US Still Trying to Force GMOs on Europe PostWed Nov 22, 2006 8:20 pm  Reply with quote

This comes with 10 years of failure due to commercialised planting of GM crops globally showing no advantages or benefits for either farmers or environmental eco-systems. In fact often showing opposite effects than desired with increased herbicide use and dependence on corporations for food security. Increasing numbers of farmers now in hundreds of millions of USD in debt, India - over 50,000 farmers now committed suicide as a direct result of growing GM crops.

Over 1870 sheep also died this year after eating GM cotton in India over a period of 7 days.

Corporations still have a strong hold over governments and with UN and EU trade rules allowing GM contamination and force acceptence of GM seeds in thrid world countries, no longer legal to save seed. Or to accept free seeds as aid - only GM seeds the USA dumps on the world - Africans still rather starve or eat only one meal a day than eat tainted genetically mutated food.

WE MUST FIGHT TO PRESERVE NATURE AND SAVE SEED! OR ALL BIODIVERSITY WILL BECOME EXTINCT WITH HUMANS BECOMING EXTINCT LAST. OR EATING ARTIFICIAL FOOD GROWN IN LABS - EVEN GM GROWN MEAT FROM LABS NOT ANIMALS EVEN - NOT EVEN CLONED ANIMALS.

* EU drags heels on biotech food, U.S. lawmakers say
By Missy Ryan
Reuters, Nov 15, 2006
Straight to the Source

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States must pressure the European Union to stop dragging its feet on approving new imports of bioengineered food, senior U.S. lawmakers said in a letter released on Wednesday.

"The EU has avoided for too long its WTO obligations ... The illegal discrimination against biotech products on nonscientific grounds must cease," a group of lawmakers said in a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab.

Scientists have created bioengineered foods, such as higher vitamin content in rice, by inserting genes from things like daffodils into targeted products.

The EU has insisted on careful regulation of bioengineered food to screen for health or environmental risks.

The U.S. lawmakers, including the incoming chairs of the House and Senate Agriculture committees, want European officials to act quickly on the heels of a September 29 ruling by the World Trade Organization's dispute settlement body.

A main finding of that ruling was that a ban on approving new biotech products, which the EU had in place for four years until 2003, led to "undue delays."

Lawmakers here are skeptical Europe will heed the ruling.

"Winning the WTO case without achieving any positive changes in the approval process would greatly erode the credibility of the WTO in the eyes of U.S. agriculture," the lawmakers wrote.

The letter was signed by Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin and Minnesota Rep. Collin Peterson, who are poised to lead the Senate and House Agriculture committees once Democrats take control of Congress in January.

The committees' outgoing chairs, Republicans Saxby Chambliss of Georgia and Bob Goodlatte of Virginia, also signed the letter, along with the current heads of the powerful Senate Finance Committee and House Ways and Means Committee.

The European Union says its current, updated regime for approving bioengineered products -- including a food safety authority based in Italy -- complies with WTO rules.

"The new system is science-based. We've set up a centralized procedure ... that's responsible for doing risk assessment" of bioengineered food, said Canice Nolan, who directs food safety, health and consumer affairs for the EU's delegation in Washington.

Nolan said he disagreed with the letter.

Europe has approved only "a handful" of biotech products in the past few years, and some approvals have been pending for over a decade, USTR spokeswoman Gretchen Hamel said.

Now, the United States will do everything in its power to ensure European complies with the WTO ruling, she added.

Nolan said the European Union had not decided if it would appeal the WTO's ruling. It has until late November to do so.

So called Green activists or environmentalists fail miserably to lobby the UN for strict controls on GM food crops or banning of such foods for countries that are already allowed to do this under the Biosafety Protocol, Geneva, UN.

Instead the UN is actually paid to endorse pharmaceutical cartels and support biotech industry in partnership or collaboration.

The post WW2 plan for pharmaceutical globalisation and domination of the world has in many rsspects won, this was the plan historians talk of when corresponding documents showed this as a Nazi post WW2 plan to return if they lost the war. Hundreds of countries now have mass contamination/pollution from GM crops that are toxic in more ways than you have heard. Please do some thorough research on this as I have now since the start of commercialised GM crop plantations started.

Chinese Farmers of Genetically Modified Cotton Are Losing Money

Bt cotton in China fails to reap profit after seven years because secondary pests emerge and require lots of pesticides

Although Chinese cotton growers were among the first farmers worldwide to plant genetically modified (GM) cotton to resist bollworms, the substantial profits they have reaped for several years by saving on pesticides have now been eroded.

The reason, as reported by Cornell University researchers at the American Agricultural Economics Association (AAEA) Annual Meeting in Long Beach, Calif., July 25, is that other pests are now attacking the GM cotton.

The GM crop is known as Bt cotton, shorthand for the Bacillus thuringiensis gene inserted into the seeds to produce toxins. But these toxins are lethal only to leaf-eating bollworms. After seven years, populations of other insects -- such as mirids -- have increased so much that farmers now have to spray their crops up to 20 times a growing season to control them, according to the study of 481 Chinese farmers in five major cotton-producing provinces.

The study conducted by Per Pinstrup-Andersen, the H.E. Babcock Professor of Food, Nutrition and Public
Policy at Cornell and his colleagues -- the first to look at the longer-term economic impact of Bt cotton -- found that by year three, farmers in the survey who had planted Bt cotton cut pesticide use by more than 70 percent and had earnings 36 percent higher than farmers planting conventional cotton. By 2004, however, they had to spray just as much as conventional farmers, which resulted in a net average income of 8 percent less than conventional cotton farmers because Bt seed is triple the cost of conventional seed.

In addition to Pinstrup-Andersen, the study was conducted by Shenghui Wang, Cornell Ph.D. '06 and now an economist at the World Bank, and Cornell professor David R. Just. They stress that secondary pest problems could become a major threat in countries where Bt cotton has been widely planted.

"Because of its touted efficiency, four major cotton-growing countries were quick to adopt Bt cotton: the U.S., China, India and Argentina," said Wang. Bt cotton accounts for 35 percent of cotton production worldwide. In China, more than 5 million farmers have planted Bt cotton; it is also widely planted in Mexico and South Africa.

When U.S. farmers plant Bt crops, they, unlike farmers in China, are required by contracts with seed producers to plant a refuge, a field of non-Bt crops, to maintain a bollworm population nearby to help prevent the pest from developing resistance to the Bt cotton. The pesticides used in these refuge fields help control secondary pest populations on the nearby Bt cotton fields. Researchers do not yet know if a secondary pest problem will emerge in the United States and other countries, Pinstrup-Andersen said.

"The problem in China is not due to the bollworm developing resistance to Bt cotton -- as some researchers have feared -- but is due to secondary pests that are not targeted by the Bt cotton and which previously have been controlled by the broad-spectrum pesticides used to control bollworms," added Pinstrup-Andersen, who also is serving as president of AAEA for 2007.

Wang and her co-authors conclude, "Research is urgently needed to develop and test solutions."

Photo: Shenghui Wang, an economist with the World Bank interviews a Chinese cotton farmer about using Bt cotton and how much spraying was required after several years of use.

These include introducing natural predators to kill the secondary pests, developing Bt cotton that resists the secondary pests or enforcing the planting of refuge areas where broad-spectrum pesticides are used.

This study was jointly conducted by the Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy, Chinese Academy of Science and Cornell.

Humans now have artificial brain cells from eating GM food, yet again no governments or corporations is concerned and no one is being held accountable or liable for what is ongoing globally.

Much experiments on animals such as mice and rats may all be flawed due to intebred - so called - perfect lines that have been used world wide for around 100 years now. They are considered the same genetically identical even though they are not meant to have been GM to start with. Same gene pool as used for experiments they were bred from the same lines in places such as the UK.

Former I G Farben Nazis = Bayer and Monsanto work closely...all in cahoots...
Bayer honours war criminal (14/11/2006)

GM WATCH COMMENT: What is it about the main promoters of GMOs that they have such appalling records - not only in terms of causing environmental devastation and human suffering, but also in terms of delay and denial when it comes to any form of redress?

In Monsanto's case, their unsavoury record takes in amongst other things: dioxin, Agent Orange and PCBs. The latter led to a series of court decisions resulting in US$700m in damages being awarded to thousands of residents of the town of Anniston, Alabama that had been polluted over a period of years by Monsanto's PCB byproducts.

"Though the PCB production was outlawed in 1976 Monsanto dragged the lawsuit out for nearly three decades. It was settled with the following judgement. On February 22, 2002, Monsanto was found guilty of 'negligence, wantonness, suppression of truth, nuisance, trespass, and outrage.' Under Alabama law the rare claim of outrage requires 'conduct so outrageous in character and extreme in degree as to go beyond all possible bounds of decency so as to be regarded as atrocious and intolerable in civilized society'."

Bayer's record is still more terrible.

EXTRACT: ...for decades BAYER refused to pay compensation to surviving slave labourers. Only when international protests threatened the company's reputation did it hesitantly agree to pay damages - more than 50 years after the end of the war.

BAYER honours war criminal Fritz ter Meer
PRESS RELEASE, November 14, 2006 Coalition against Bayer Dangers

The company BAYER continues to refuse to openly distance itself from the convicted war criminal Fritz ter Meer. On All Saints Day the corporation again had a wreath laid on ter Meer's grave in Krefeld-Uerdingen (Germany).

Ter Meer, born in 1884, was a board member of IG Farben from 1925. During the Second World War he was responsible for the construction of the IG Farben factory in Auschwitz, in which around 30 000 slave labourers went to their deaths. In July 1948 at the Nuremberg IG Farben trial ter Meer was sentenced to seven years in prison for enslavement and looting. During questioning he maintained that no specific suffering was inflicted on the slave labourers "because without this they would have been killed anyway".

After his release from prison, ter Meer became Chairman of the Board of BAYER. After his death in 1967 Bayer named a student support foundation the "Fritz ter Meer Foundation".

(see photo in high resolution: http://www.cbgnetwork.com/images/img001690.jpg).

Axel Köhler-Schnura from the Coalition Against BAYER Dangers: "It is unacceptable that BAYER honours a war criminal like Fritz ter Meer and at the same time refuses to adequately and justly compensate the victims and their descendants. BAYER must face up to its share of the responsibility for the Nazi reign of terror, the war and slave labour." Köhler-Schnura points out that for decades BAYER refused to pay compensation to surviving slave labourers. Only when international protests threatened the company's reputation did it hesitantly agree to pay damages - more than 50 years after the end of the war.

NAZI BAYER GLOBALISATION!

FUND CORPORATE UN INSTITUTE!

BAYER and the UN Global Compact
How a major chemical and pharmaceutical company bluewashes its image

by Philipp Mimkes (Coalition against BAYER Dangers)

BAYER considers itself a “founding member” of the UN Global Compact, but its dedication to the Compact’s nine principles should be seen in the context of an extremely controversial corporate history. The Coalition Against BAYER-dangers (CBG) has found that BAYER has been using its “membership” in the Compact to deflect criticism by watchdog groups, without addressing the substance of the criticism. BAYER’s use of the Global Compact is a classic case of “bluewash ” – using the good image of the United Nations to present a corporate humanitarian image without a commitment to changing real-world behavior.
Bayer - more than Aspirin

When most of us hear the brand name “Bayer” we think of aspirin.
But BAYER AG, based in Leverkusen, Germany is a major producer of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and plastics. The company has 120,000 employees worldwide and annual sales of some $28 billion. The U.S. is its largest market, and the company has facilities in Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, India, Thailand, China, Japan and many European countries. It is also a founding member of the UN’s Global Compact, a partnership between the United Nations and big business. Bayer has signed on to nine voluntary, non-binding human rights and environmental principles. In exchange for the use of the UN name and logo, a range of UN programs hope to receive funding from giant corporations.
History of Corporate Crimes

BAYER has a long history of giving profits precedence over human rights and a sound environment. During the first World War the company invented Chemical Warfare ("moisture gas") and built up a "School for Chemical Warfare". BAYER was part of the conglomerate IG Farben, which worked closely with the Third Reich. IG Farben exploited several hundred thousand slave workers to build up their plant in Auschwitz, took over companies all over Europe and used human guinea pigs for pharmaceutical research. IG Farben´s subsidiary Degesch manufactured Zyklon B, the poison gas used in the gas chambers. In the late 30´s organophosphates (sarine, tabun) were introduced, after the war marketed by BAYER as pesticides (E 605, Folidol, Nemacur, Fenthion). IG Farben´s managers were convicted as war criminals at the Nuremberg Trials. After the war IG Farben was broken up into BASF, BAYER and Hoechst (now called Aventis), and the three firms still cooperate closely and exert a large influence on German and European politics.
Useless and Hazardous Pharmaceuticals

BAYER is best known for aspirin and for the antibiotic Cipro, but it has also provided many useless and dangerous medicines. In 1898 BAYER introduced Heroine as a cough medicine "without side-effects" and marketed the drug for decades inspite of the well-known dangers of addiction. Ten years ago the company admitted foreknowledge in selling HIV-tainted blood clotting products which infected around 50% of the hemophiliac community. The class action cases in the U.S. were settled for $100,000 per claimant, while in Europe the taxpayers were left with most of the bill.

Beginning in 1997 BAYER paid three of its competitors a total of $200 million to abandon efforts to bring cheaper generic versions of Cipro to the market. Last year BAYER was forced to withdraw one of its leading pharmaceutical products, the anti-cholesterol drug Baycol or Lipobay, which was linked to over 100 deaths.

BAYER was one of the pharmaceutical companies who took the South African government to court for allowing the production of cheap generic versions of HIV drugs. Last year, BAYER Corporation agreed to pay $14 million in restitution to the American government to settle charges stemming from its role in inflated claims for prescription drugs used by Medicaid patients. Even BAYER´s flagship product, Aspirin, which is marketed as preventing heart attacks and strokes, has its problems: more Americans die from side-effects of acetyl salicylic acid than of AIDS.
Europe´s #1 in Biotechnology

In October 2001 BAYER bought GM seed company Aventis CropScience for $6.4 billion. With that purchase BAYER became the leading genetically modified (GM) crop company in Europe, with more than half of the GM crop varieties up for approval for commercial use. If the European moratorium on the commercial growing of GM crops is lifted, BAYER will be set to flood Europe´s fields with GM oilseed rape and maize. In most European countries BAYER will be responsible for the majority of GM field trials over the next year.

BAYER is also linked with PPL Therapeutics, the leading company in cloning. BAYER engaged PPL to breed the sheep "Tracy." BAYER participated in founding EuropaBio, Europe´s most important lobby group for biotechnology.
Corporate Lobbying

Bayer also leverages its economic clout in the political arena. Since the 1920’s the company has financed German political parties and has formed business associations in order to increase its influence on politics and the media. Several of Bayer´s managers became ministers in German governments. Today BAYER is a member of hundreds of lobby groups tackling 'trade barriers' like environmental or health & safety laws. The European Round Table of Industrialists effectively writes big chunks of EU corporate legislation. BAYER also helped set up the Transatlantic Business Dialogue, where European and US multinationals work together to influence policy in the direction of greater liberalisation and deregulation. The World Business Council for Sustainable Development, another corporate coterie of which BAYER is part, helped 'hijack' the UN Earth Summit in Rio in 1992, and continues to promote the idea that issues like climate change are safest left in the hands of multinational corporations. Other lobby groups in which BAYER takes an active role are the International Chamber of Commerce, the Global Crop Protection Federation and the German Verband der Chemischen Industrie and Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie. BAYER supported President Bush´s electoral campaign with $120,000. In the last five years BAYER has handed out more than $600,000 to US politicians.
Founding Member of UN Global Compact

Two of IG Farben´s successors - BAYER and BASF – signed onto the Global Compact at its founding meeting in July 2000. BAYER advertises its co-operation with the UN broadly, for example by printing an editorial by Secretary-General Kofi Annan in its “Sustainable Development Report.” The company’s website and Annual Report dedicate special section to the Global Compact.

To document its commitment to the principles of the Compact the firm presents four examples:

* Financial support for the Brazilian Abrinq Foundation for the Rights of the Child which combats child labor,

* Donations of two pharmaceutical products against sleeping sickness to the World Health Organisation,

* Its efforts to control the spread of antibiotic resistance,

* Company training programs for Brazilian farm workers and small farmers teaching them to handle pesticides appropriately.

In addition BAYER provided medicines after earthquakes in India and El Salvador and donated one million dollars and firefighting equipments to selected relief organizations following September 11.

BAYER does not publish figures on its efforts to combat child labor in Brazil or its contributions to the WHO, though these expenditures are less than $1 million each. At the same time as these fairly modest contributions, the taxes BAYER paid declined from about $1 billion in 2000 to $132 million in 2001. The tax cuts added up to more than 50 times the total philanthropic donations. Even assuming BAYER’s donations all go to wonderful causes, the public might be far better off foregoing BAYER’s contributions in favor of their paying taxes.

BAYER is the third biggest manufacturer of herbicides globally, and dominates the insecticides market. Insecticides are responsible for the majority of pesticide poisoning in Third World countries. The World Health Organisation annually counts 2 million pesticide poisonings with, according to the WHO, a number of unreported cases which is probably higher than 10 million. About 200,000 people per year die from pesticide poisonings.

In 1995 Bayer promised to withdraw its most toxic pesticides, but has yet to do so, and still sells pesticides rated by the WHO as 'extremely' or 'highly' hazardous. Bayer claims that it is the responsibility of pesticide users to take precautions, despite the fact that underpaid farm laborers often do not have access to health and safety information.

To "minimise the risks to humans and the environment" BAYER in Latin America has started an initiative called "Agrovida". Several thousand persons in the rural farming region in southern Brazil underwent health and security trainings. According to BAYER "the information conveyed covered the basic concepts of integrated crop management, which is designed to optimize all of the measures needed towards sustainable farming. The crop protection part of this strategy concentrated on the safety of the user, proper storage of crop protection products, maintenance of equipment, and careful disposal of empty containers". The company admits that "the training campaign was perhaps only a small step in terms of the area it covered, but it was certainly a forward-looking step if one considers what an excellent model it could be for other regions of the world".

In the first place one may discuss if it wouldn´t be more beneficial to conduct courses for Organic Farming. Furthermore training "several thousand people" might be helpful, but the fact remains that millions of peasants in Third World countries who use BAYER´s highly toxic products have never received any instructions. BAYER regularly breaches the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation code of conduct, which it has signed. According to this code pesticides should only be sold to trained and certified professionals who wear full protective clothing and should otherwise be taken from the market voluntarily.

Even in Agrovida’s home country of Brazil, the pesticide Baysiston, number 1 on the Brazilian market, poisoned hundreds of coffee growers, at least 30 of them fatally. The omnipresent advertising of Baysiston camouflages the risks, with many coffee growers even believing Baysiston to be a fertilizer which increases yields. The State Prosecutor who investigated the case complained about the publicity which presents the product as harmless and completely neglects potential risks. BAYER stated that they are aware of cases of contamination, but that these cases were not due to lack of information but to "inexpert use alone."

Following reports in the German and Brazilian news media, the company pressured local governments and medical doctors to collude in minimizing concerns about their products risks. The firm threatened to sue communities which intended to limit the use of Baysiston (which was done in some municipalities nevertheless). BAYER contacted hospitals so that death certificates would no longer state "pesticide poisoning" or even "Baysiston intoxication" as cause of death. Later on the company donated money to a group of doctors who would cooperate. According to the Agricultural Worker´s Union Baysiston poisonings continue to be daily routine but hardly ever appear in the records.
Case Study: Antibiotics and Resistant Bacteria

BAYER is a major producer of antibiotics, including the fluoroquinolones Cipro for humans and Baytril for animals. The effectiveness of many life-saving antibiotics is, however, waning. Health experts have deemed the rise in antibiotic resistance a public health crisis. BAYER pretends to counter the problem by starting a new initiative: "BAYER has launched a global initiative to preserve the effectiveness of antibiotics. It aims to work with leading health organisations and experts to help tackle the growing threat caused by bacteria rapidly developing resistance to today's antibiotics, a serious problem affecting developing countries as well as industrialized states."

Bayer also touts its membership in the Global Compact as motivation for the program. "Since Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) states that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, the project is perfectly in line with the Global Compact Initiative and its aims. (...) The new initiative Libra intends to help educating doctors, patients and policy makers about the need to reduce the inappropriate use of antibiotics - specifically their misuse, overuse and underuse."

But in reality BAYER´s business activities themselves are contributing to the rise of resistant bacteria: a major reason for resistence is feeding antibiotics unnecessarily to healthy farm animals to promote growth and to compensate for unsanitary conditions. The Union of Concerned Scientists estimates that 70% of all antibiotics in the U.S. are used in healthy pigs, poultry and cattle. Because fluoroquinolones are given to entire flocks indiscriminately in their drinking water, near-ideal conditions for speeding the development of resistance are created. The American Medical Association has publicly demanded a stop to the use of antibiotics in agriculture for healthy animals.

In October 2000, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposed banning fluoroquinolone antibiotics for treating poultry. FDA scientists asserted that fluoroquinolone use in chickens and turkeys has accelerated the development of fluoroquinolone-resistant Campylobacter. FDA estimates that Campylobacter contaminates up to 80 percent of broiler chickens in some supermarkets. The medical community strongly supported FDA's proposal, as did the public interest community. Abbott Laboratories, maker of one fluoroquinolone product for poultry, complied with FDA's proposal, withdrawing the product from the market.

However, BAYER Corp., the sole remaining manufacturer, has demanded a formal hearing, a process that is likely to take years to complete. Physicians fear that if the ban is delayed, and Campylobacter bacteria continue building resistance at current rates, the problem may become moot (more information: www.BayerWatch.com ).
Greenwashing and the Global Compact

BAYER has a long tradition in greenwashing: the company has actively promoted terms like "crop protection" instead of "pesticides," and has embraced "Sustainable Development" and "Responsible Care." Across the world the company promotes the idea of non-binding voluntary commitments to solve environmental problems.

In the 1980’s BAYER countered the emerging environmental movement by intensifying PR activities and by using the corporate slogan "BAYER forscht fuer den Umweltschutz" (BAYER researches for environmental protection). Only when a Dutch court judged it as "misleading" was the slogan was changed to "Expertise with Responsibility."

In the past year journalists or concerned citizens who adressed to the company were routinely referred to BAYER´s commitment in the Global Compact and BAYER´s inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index, set up by the London Stock Exchange and the Financial Times. The FTSE4Good Index lists companies which perform well in the areas of social standards and environmental protection. The firms are chosen according to their own publications; independent sources are not taken into account. The Coalition against BAYER-dangers (CBG), a watchdog group which has been monitoring BAYER for more than 20 years, was not contacted in advance. A request by CBG was answered by FTSE: “These criteria do not cover every conceivable issue and clearly there may be issues surrounding a company that are outside the FTSE4Good criteria. If that is so, then that would not exclude them.”

To illustrate the way BAYER spokesmen use the involvement in the Global Compact to counter criticism, consider the events of January 2002. The Multinational Monitor magazine from Washington D.C. put BAYER in their list of “The Ten Worst Corporations of 2001.” They included the company for several reasons: BAYER´s behaviour in the anthrax crisis, when the company tried to sell overpriced antibiotics to the American government; the withdrawal of the cholesterol-reducing drug Lipobay/Baycol which had led to the death of at least 100 patients; the suit against the watchdog group, Coalition against BAYER Dangers, for maintaining a BAYERWatch.com website (the site is now used by the Campaign Against the Overuse of Antibiotics); and BAYER´s refusal to pull Baytril from the market (see above).

After several German newspapers carried the Ten Worst Corporations story, Bayer issued a statement rejecting the Multinational Monitor’s charges: “BAYER rejects the accusations and defamations by the US-based Multinational Monitor in its so-called "negative list" of the "10 worst corporations of the year 2001". Multinational Monitor is the organ of an alliance of activist groups that have the common aim of criticizing companies. It is no coincidence that this news was published by the so-called "Coalition against BAYER-dangers" shortly before BAYER´s planned listing in the US. This presentation fits into the agitation that the Coalition against BAYER-dangers has pushed forward against BAYER and its subsidiaries for years. BAYER is one of the founding members of the UN Global Compact of UN Secretary Kofi Annan, that was started in July 2001. In joining the Global Compact the company obliges itself to agree with and spread nine principles the UN picked in the fields of human rights, social standards and environmental protection. Last year BAYER was also chosen for the FTSE4Good Global 100 Index. In this list FTSE4Good picks companies judged to have a good record in the fields of human rights, social standards and environmental protection." Note that BAYER does not respond to any allegations but instead attacks their critics.

The Coalition against BAYER-dangers has been sued by BAYER several times. In a spectacular case, which continued for five years the German Supreme Court ruled in favor of the watchdog group. The Coalition will continue to counter corporate greenwashing and the hijacking of the United Nations by multinational companies.

More info related and non related material:

How the Chemical Companies came to control the media and people

The Drug Story

How the pharmaceutical industry took control of the hospitals, universities, research and other institutions in the early part of this century is amply demonstrated by world-famous medical historian and author, Hans Ruesch, in his devastating expose: Naked Empress or The Great Medical Fraud(55) (1992). The book is an absolute must to read. Naked Empress exposes massive corruption and fraud in medicine, science, industries, governments, media and various organisations. The importance of this book cannot be over-stated.

In Naked Empress, Ruesch cited another important expose titled The Drug Story(56) (1949) by American investigative reporter, Morris A. Bealle. According to Bealle: "America's largest and most ruthless industrial combine, the Rockefeller Empire" (which was built on Standard Oil Company) in the early part of this century became interested in the drug trade after making breath-taking profits from palming off bottled petroleum called Nujol as a supposed cure for cancer and later constipation.

In 1939 the Drug Trust was formed by an alliance of the world's two greatest cartels in world history - the Rockefeller Empire and the German chemical company I.G. Farbenindustrie (I.G.Farben). Drug profits from that time onwards curved upwards into gigantic proportions and by 1948 it became a 10-billion-dollar-a-year industry.(57)

I.G. Farben's unsavoury past is highlighted by the fact that during the Second World War it built and operated a massive chemical plant at Auschwitz using slave labour. Approximately 300,000 concentration-camp workers passed through I.G. Farben's facilities at Auschwitz and at least 25,000 of them were worked to death.(58) Also, others were brutally killed in I.G. Farben's drug testing programs(59). Twelve of I.G. Farben's top executives were sentenced to terms of imprisonment for slavery and mistreatment offences at the Nuremberg war crime trials.(60)

Hoechst and Bayer, the largest and third largest companies in world pharmaceutical sales respectively, are descended from I.G. Farben. In September 1955, Hoechst appointed Friedrich Jaehne, a convicted war criminal from the Nuremberg trials, as chairman of its supervisory board. Also, a year later, Bayer appointed Fitz ter Meer, another convicted war criminal, as chairman of its board.(61)

On the Rockefellers' moves towards "influencing" medical colleges and public agencies in the United States, Bealle writes:

"The last annual report of the Rockefeller Foundation itemises the gifts it has made to colleges and public agencies in the past 44 years (from 1948), and they total somewhat over half a billion dollars. These colleges, of course, teach their students all the drug lore the Rockefeller pharmaceutical houses want taught. Otherwise there would be no more gifts, just as there are no gifts to any of the 30 odd drugless colleges in the United States."(62)

The Rockefellers did not restrict their "educational" activities to the US alone. In 1927 they formed the International Education Board which "donated" millions of dollars to foreign universities and politicos, with all the usual strings attached.(63)

As these huge amounts of money were being "donated" to drug-propagandising colleges, the Rockefeller interests were expanding world-wide. It was large enough 40 years ago for Bealle to state:

"It has long been demonstrated that the Rockefeller interests have created, built up and developed the most far reaching industrial empire ever conceived in the mind of man. Standard Oil is of course the foundation industry upon which all of the other industries have been built.

The keystone of this mammoth industrial empire is the Chase National Bank with 27 branches in New York City and 21 in foreign countries (now renamed the Chase Manhattan Bank with over 200 branches in the US and abroad). Not the least of its holdings are in the drug business. The Rockefellers own the largest drug manufacturing combine in the world, and use all of their other interests to bring pressure to increase the sale of drugs."(64)

The Not-So-Independent Media

Instrumental in Rockefellers' moves towards making the world drug-dependent is their enormous influence on the media. Commenting on this, Ruesch explains:

"So the stage was set for the `education' of the American public, with a view to turning them into a population of drug dependants with early help of the schools, then with the direct advertising and, last but not least, the influence the advertising revenues had on the media."

A compilation of the magazine Advertising Age showed that as far back as 1948 the larger companies spent for newspapers, radio and magazine advertising the sum total of $1,104,224,374, when the dollar was still worth a dollar. Of this staggering sum the interlocking Rockefeller-Morgan interests (gone over entirely to Rockefeller after Morgan's death) controlled about 80%, and utilised it to manipulate public information on health and drug matters - then as now.

Anybody who tries to get into the mass media independent news, contrary to the interests of the Drug Trust, will sooner or later run into an unbreakable wall.

For big advertisers it is easy not only to plant into the media any news they wish to disseminate, but also to keep out the news they don't want to get around. A survey in 1978 by the Columbia Journalism Review failed to find a single comprehensive article about the dangers of smoking in the previous seven years in any major magazine accepting cigarette advertising.

Even the most independent newspapers are dependent on their press associations for their national news. And there is no reason for a news editor to suspect that a story coming over the wires of Associated Press, united Press International or the International News Service is censored when it concerns health matters.

Yet this is what happens constantly. [Emphasis added](65)

Ruesch showed how the above-mentioned international media were taken over by the Drug Trust and he further explains:

"So this sews up the press associations of the Rockefeller Drug Trust, and accounts for the many fake stories of serums and medical cures and just-around-the -corner-breakthrough-to-cancer, which go out brazenly over its wires to all daily newspapers in America and abroad.."

Thus newspapers continue to be fed constantly with propaganda about drugs and their alleged value, although 1.5 million people landed in hospitals in 1978 because of medication side-effects in the US alone, and despite recurrent statements by intelligent and courageous medical men that most pharmaceutical items on sale are useless and/or harmful.(66)

Among the many publications owned by the Rockefeller Drug Trust, are: Fortune, Life, Time, Readers Digest and Newsweek magazines, and the Encyclopedia Britannica. These publications are constantly pushing drugs.

Hi FWI,

Great information. Just to let you know, in case I missed it, Bayer is the Rothchild's original company. Their original name was Bauer, which they then created the Bayer Corporation, but Mayer changed the name to Rothchild (which means Red Shield). It is the Rothchild's money that funded J.P. Morgan, not to mention I.G. Farben and also Cecil Rhodes
( who founded the Round Table Groups and Rhodes Scholarships (for world citizenship). Their foundation, of course, is a large player in the UN and the various organizations and NGO's such as Dr. WHO and UNESCO, et all. These organizations are not really US based but Globally based. They don't give a damn about nations, cultures, religions - it's all about control.

We in the US have been used as has Europe, Japan and China and other nations. The little people slave for the NWO. I just wish the whole lot of us, no matter what nationality, race, culture, religion, whatever, could somehow overcome these psychopaths who are hell bent on destroying the natural order of humanity. They are the insane ones.

Do you happen to know which family now owns Pfizer that owned Pharmacia that owned Monsanto?

Pfizer invest over 300 million GBP each week in European operations alone.

You are right, we have to educate as many as possible for them to understand the true history and where we are heading. We can all form our own groups then or fight these crazies.

This doc also available to read through Google PDF viewer makes it clear how Monsanto has always never made a decent profit and is not economical in any way which almost completely closed down twice and bailed out by the US government using tax payers money, the Bush family does this for many biotech companies and expects no money back as it is seen as sound investment.

www.greenpeace.org/raw/content/usa/press/reports/monsanto-out-of-our-food.pdf

Really most biotech companies that keep forcing us to have everything we don't need or want should be bankrupt and ceased trading. Only fools buy such shares.

I am not sure at this time who owns them, except that, I spent one night looking at major corporations and found that links existed amongst them all. For an example, I searched Dell Corporation's board of directors and found that Sam Nunn (former Senator, DOD, NASA etc. was a member), a woman who was President of the Rockefeller Family Foundation was a member, she also was on the board of Merk, there was another who was a former board member of Pfizer and one that was a former CEO at the La Roche Corp. as well as the board member of other major corps., it went on and on. A who's who of the top players. It was creepy.

But, I found this out in my research from NY Times and Washington Post:

Pharmacia Corporation was created in April 2000 through the merger of Pharmacia & Upjohn with Monsanto Company and its G.D. Searle unit. Pharmacia employs 59,000 people worldwide and has research, manufacturing and administrative sales operations in more than 60 countries. So here is the tie in between the pharmaceutical companies and the agricultural companies.

I will try to find out who the actual owners are, but as you can see, the Pharmaceutical companies are in bed with the agricultural companies. From my research, most of these major corporations are not competitors as we believe, but a huge corporate web where there truly is no competition, just like the oil companies. There is no competition at the top. These boys don't compete, they just decide who will profit and who will take the loss, like the computer companies.

One of my interesting researches uncovered that Ted Waite of Gateway, has a company with IBM that is collecting DNA from all the peoples of the world. Originally IBM was doing it but a group in Hawaii sued them for taking DNA from the locals without their understanding of what the big picture was all about. Anyway, in comes Ted Wait from Gateway to continue (with IBM in the background) this work under a different name. I tell you, I was up one night, all night and my mind was so boggled it was just incredible. Bill Gates has his own Genome Research company called Darwin's Molecular something-or-other). His company is combined with one owned by the Queen of England. None of these guys, like Ted Waite, Bill Gates or Michael Dell are self-made men, they were funded. Also, if you look at the logo of Dell Corp. you can see that the E is the same as ENRON's E.

I will try and find out more conclusively. How does the saying go - "Oh what a tangled web we weave" something like that.

Thanks for the valuable info. Exactly right when you say there is no real competition since they all work to benefit each another also.

When Warren Buffet donated most of his billions to the bill gates charities I was not happy about it at all because I knew bill gates was into the biotech corps. Now associates with many of the elite.

When researching into corporations (biotech, pharma, agribusiness, oil, energy companies, etc.) I also generally find most of them either own each other or once did and still work closely.

I look forward to seeing some more of your research when you get around to it.

Very Happy

Hi FWO,

Here's an interesting article from the Seattle Times about the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and how they are hiring new "giants" to help with the world's problems. It's a who's who of pharmaceutical biggies, world bankers, Monsanto, top government officials, Boeing, etc. all who make some hefty salaries at these non-profit, tax free foundations. The article is enough to make you vomit. Thank God we have "experts" like this looking out for the "little guy". Africa should be in "good hands with Bill" - I can just imagine the new kinds of vaccines they'll be able to whip up in their labs. It must be why Bono wears his rose-colored glasses.

Well, what eye opening sh..! Thanks for prooving to me what I already knew. Nothing can be done or stopped about all this. Just keep informed so as not to be one of the sheep hauled of to slaughter. Well, not as fast anyway.

There's no way your going to get the average joe or jane to even give this stuff a read. They are only intersted in what they can get at the store and for what discount. Then to come home and open that fast food they bought somewhere. And who's gonna get the remote first!

Africans aren't as stupid as the rest of the world thinks they are. They still have civilizations that have been around for thousands of years. But them, as well as the rest of us are going to be a thing of the past. Wonder what the elite will do when we are all gone and they have no one to rape, steal from or wipe their asses.

Thanks for all the info, as horrible as it is. Peace

edit: Again we still need to compile a list of corps, the elite and their crimes with real genuine history not false info and consolidate it all on one site for all to gather info on a wide range of subjects. This is no easy task. I imagine data in size of TB or PB.

Remember, Remember, Archives that are never lost or deleted and always backed up multiple times over, remotely. No memory holes for us...essential works...

edit: note this was just outspoken (info bites) well known among interested ones, not really well typed on forums as usual when it comes to my posts...

I do have some very constructive concepts that could battle the corps with great effectiveness though, best discussed in private generally with it not been done before in this way. We would be using their enemy or be that enemy but being fully backed by the masses of all backgrounds daily...as well as using them (the elite) as a weapon against themselves - in an organised fashion of course. This may not be the best of of describing of what I have in mind, and won't be going into it any further.
================
Some more of what we already know...

Fortunately (IMHO) if you believe any thing at all can be done it can and is done by action we take as the people. The consumers, masses, etc. The ones still with the real power that passively hands it all away by being ignorant and arrogant daily while some how sleepwalking through life.

SIMPLY BE APATHETIC IF YOU BELIEVE NOTHING CAN BE DONE OR CHANGED...:p

Vote with your feet people! The FDA did promise GM food lebals for the USA several years ago but again nothing came of it when Monsanto and co actually legislate laws on this at the federal level now making it illegal to ban GM food in states.

Most news we see, hear or read from mainstream outlets is pure corporatist propaganda. We can already prove GM crops are unsafe but this may take 50 years or more for the authorities to listen when nothing can then be done but us facing mass extinction more so than ever before caused by this madness. Who can say for sure we will even have much left in 50 - 80 years at the current rate of devastating destruction caused by humans. No action or no way near enough taken to preserve life or to make this world clean from pollution and sustainable with eco-tech.

I never hear of any unbiased or balanced news reports on TV/cable or major news papers on how GM foods kill animals and all the animals that die in experiments and even then with all the mutations they still have.

All GM farmers have to rely on subsidies or they make no money when growing GM crops a proven FACT, these subsidies are also illegal under US and UN rules as well as EU laws and Free Trade agreements they will be stopped within the next few years so they say.

European and UK consumers have rejected GM food for over (10 years) a decade now. With over 85% not wanting GM food and wanting it labelled, with over 54% that have total zero tolerance (even for medicine or other uses) and even these consumers have little knowledge compared to what can be learnt about it all and the very imprecise technology used.

Impossible Coexistence

www.gmcontaminationregister.org

www.gmofree-europe.org

www.gmo-free-regions.org

With GM contamination passing International barriers travelling over 2,000KM. Also proven to be true independently.

The UK has near 800 or so biotech companies. Pfizer makes most of its pharma sales to our health services. European based pharma cartels are in control of American ones as we can see putting pressure on the EU and rest of world from within the USA and UN. Still a totally unregulated industry as with drug cartels that also self regulate and no independent safety testing is done. When it is done by FDA is it not genuinely legitimate especially not so with GMOs with Monsanto employing their workers at the FDA - this has also been out in court with this and how their own safety tests do not work with GM food not passing barely any, when Bush got in and outlawed all safety tests required to introduce GM food commercially.

In the USA we have had protesters from day one also even destroy crop trials in universities and on Monsanto plantations with the first ever field trials we knew about. The biotech industry wanted organics to be legislated as being genetically modified or allowing organics to be GM and sold as being natural. There is so much propaganda and spin used in the promotion of GMOs that is easy to get past with common sense telling us things such as genetic engineering has been ongoing for centuries with breeding yet it was never genetic modification using viruses to force alien DNA into crops so not to be rejected and to use human DNA, antibiotics, etc. Now was it ever transgenic, always in some relation.

The USDA has even given biotech cartels full access to their seed banks for GM of them to make profit from and danger seed banks that have much variety including rare high quality drought and flood resistant crops - this is something nature already provides with natural rare strains (evolved naturally in such climates) barely in use now or only now available in some wild. Organics standards in America have to be among the lowest with non organic ingredients and allowing GM contamination which are both prohibited under EU and UK laws where charities regulate and certify farmers produce to such high standards world wide.

A lot can still be done to fight these corporate elite whether you believe it or not - best is education to start with showing all sides and facts - which can easily prove no benefits exist for anyone but the patent holders and companies that manufacture the genetically mutated produce in the first place which is not even economical for them - making losses always unless they get huge investments and more crops sales with over 1.4 billion acres world wide of Monsanto GM crops each year and with targets of doubling this each year. Another long held strategy spanning decades has been to create mass contamination so that no natural choice exists - having any GMOs at all equals zero choice causing great threat to nature and all biodiversity. Mostly due to damage to ecosystems and mass contamination.

In Europe, Africa and Asia we are still seeing growing opposition due to people being educated on basic facts - that crushes the corporate lies, false hopes and pure propaganda.

Leaked documents are released yearly from within the industry and government bodies in Europe and USA that reinforces our evidential work against the corporations lies, false hopes and crimes they commit globally. With even court cases backing us up so to how unsafe their genetically mutated artificial new life forms are.

THEY CAN ONLY EVER RE-CREATE NEVER CREATE FROM NOTHING!

So we can do something here - especially if we start building the worlds biggest natural organic seed banks that are inter-partnered alongside major organic certification charities in UK and European countries with the soil association being one the the best.

If we are to help benefit each other rather than central global corporations free trade needs to be scrapped and replaced with fair trade not regulated by the UN or other Union Institutes based on corp values.

Some countries are now allowed to plant GM crops without telling the public where the sites are to prevent destruction of them, this is also done with almost all GM and GM-Nanotech trees that are severely toxic. Something the UN now recognises as a threat. Yet the industry goes unregulated and is allowed to plant these trees anywhere, even when situated near native or natural forests. GM tree and tobacco plantations were among some of the very first open environment experiments done before we ever heard of trials for commercialised crop plantations. This was done in the 1980's in several countries.

In Germany farmers are liable NOT corp giants:

http://www.newscientist.com/channel/life/gm-food/dn6729-german-farmers-to-be-liable-for-gm-contamination.html

(mainstream masses read and now start to debate a little more)
GM crops are a liability not asset

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/5389208.stm

I agree that Africans are generally very intelligent when it comes to subjects such as this but much conflict (such as guerrilla wars I mean)exists and the corps are over there to gain much benefit from all action including trade - we have free trade countries dumping their crops on them that can either be GM or non-GM but still flood the markets so they cannot sell their own local produce and instead export to Europe. Starvations is mostly down to poor infrastructure and people living in rural sparsely populated areas. This can all be solved but politics will use it all for their own agenda and ignore the real issues here. So we can help fix it if we tried to take it from a different angle while training locals. Too much food is produced (able to feel more than world populations meant for food security) and this is also a problem. So much food is dumped daily as well which is a waste and pollutes along with environmentally damaging packaging.

Organic consumers like myself buy organic life magazine to learn more on all of this.

It is worth being weary of all publishing companies when you buy any books or magazines to see how information is used for what purposes

Peace
