Happy Valentine's Day Ladies !!!
The History of Saint Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day started in the time of the Roman Empire. In ancient Rome, February 14th was a holiday to honor Juno. Juno was the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses. The Romans also knew her as the Goddess of women and marriage. The following day, February 15th, began the Feast of Lupercalia.
The lives of young boys and girls were strictly separate. However, one of the customs of the young people was name drawing. On the eve of the festival of Lupercalia the names of Roman girls were written on slips of paper and placed into jars. Each young man would draw a girl's name from the jar and would then be partners for the duration of the festival with the girl whom he chose. Sometimes the pairing of the children lasted an entire year, and often, they would fall in love and would later marry.
In the United States, Miss Esther Howland is given credit for sending the first valentine cards. Commercial valentines were introduced in the 1800's and now the date is very commercialised. The town of Loveland, Colorado, does a large post office business around February 14. The spirit of good continues as valentines are sent out with sentimental verses and children exchange valentine cards at school.

Thank you T/S for the only Valentine I'm "kinda" getting this year hehehe.
That was very nice of you to start our day on such a pretty and pleasent note, and I wish you a Happy Valentines Day too,... and that your mail box is filled to the brim with pink and red fluffy cards, from secret admirer's
I Hope the same for Everyone here, also.
Special Note for defender:
I want to publically apologise to you defender, for accusing you of purposely burying peoples posts, and thinking the worst about you. I see and know that the information you bring to the board is very valuable, and accept that we all have our own styles of posting, different as they all may be.You, like a hawk, like to do your posting in one felled swoop, and I nickname you "SwoopingHawkDefender" I hope Valentines Day is especially, and surprisingly heart warming for you, on this Feb.14th 2002. -KE-

i disagree with a government mandated holiday that forces a guy to give chocolates and roses and all that junk to his battleaxe. if you aint getting it regular then there's something wrong anyway and valentine's day aint gonna help with the situation. it's a conspiracy by hallmark cards to get a dumb bastard to pay five bucks for a really sappy piece of poetry on a piece of paper. |

Thanks for the post, Seeker, it was uplifting. I've been a bit down for the last few days because with the sunshine here in Spokane, Washington, has come the heavy chemtrailing, along with the denials by weather forecasters that anything is amiss.
Sometimes little thoughtful acts can really make a soul feel better.
