Not quite the same as military.
Clarification for all...
Military is not seen at all on tool.
Bill Gates' jet could be seen on the tool, altitude, heading, etc. available, although the identifying ###'s would be hidden.

You may need a fun toy to clarify your
view but I don't. I've lived within 10 miles
of O'Hare Airport my entire life. It is not
the norm to see planes flying in
formation leaving trails as far as the eye
can see. I've never had a doubt about
these planes - they're not passanger
jets.
"F/E does help, removes certain doubts...and clarifies a view..."
"..the sheer volume of flights at any given time is astounding..."
Business must be good.
O'Hare Airport expansion is a necessity
according to the mayor and governor.
Maybe the airlines will consider giving
back some of the 9/11 $$$$$$
"I was watching on 9/11, and during a recent sighting of a unusual craft."
So what did you see on 9/11 after all commercial traffic was grounded?
"..it is a good tool, and a nice toy to have in the box "
I agree FE is a fun toy but so is a yoyo -
I'll take the yoyo ..... you can have FE.
"you can't track military for security reasons"
Yes Seeker - that point has been made.

a big map of the U.S....the connection was terminated around noon....

here's a link to all military in illinois...
http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/statefacts/blil.htm
speakin' of eyes a good pair you must have to tell the difference between planes roughly 150 feet long @ almost 6 miles straight up...
I understand what your saying, commercial tend to fly in straight lines, military tend to go where they want...but to me this tendency is not proof...and is the equivalent of seeing brush moving from a couple of hundred yards, and thinking it's a deer...when it could be another hunter...
I've never tried using a yo-yo to identify planes...sounds like fun...
