Now that the GBP is almost as weak as the EUR will the UK have no need to adopt the single market currency or will we be forced to do so even more. One way of looking at it is that we no longer need to have the EUR now the EUR and GBP are harmonised so much! But the Eurocrats may want the UK to surrender their Sterling to the German EUR, where the ECB can control the interest rate, actually there is no maybe about it, the EU or Germany and France want exactly this to happen. After all Germany had plans for a single European (world) currency well before they lost WW2 and after. Why should we keep the Sterling? Because it is the best currency in the world by the side of the USD and the UK economy is harmonised to the US economy more than it ever will be with European markets. Adopting a sinlge currency is permanent and once we have it if it fails so does the whole economy and millions of life's with hundreds of thousands if not millions of UK based businesses. There is no currency to fall back on other than the USD! Then. Some businesses do bank in Euros already, sure. If the UK surrender the GBP we will lose all control of our economy. We will lose our heritage and sovereignty.
(All) Europeans hate the UK and want us to have their crappy play money!
How about bringing manufacturing from Europe to England once the pound is weaker than the euro. I know...they won't allow or do this...
I guess if we lose the Sterling I will have all my money in dollars instead in my bank account at least. Never in Euros!
quote: The Archbishop of Canterbury has risked new controversy after he appeared to draw parallels between Gordon Brown's Government and the Nazis.
He spoke of the theologian's opposition to Nazi principles, and then went on to question the economic principles on which Mr Brown and the Government are trying to cope with recession.
