More than 100 million Americans breathe sooty air PostTue Dec 23, 2008 1:30 am  Reply with quote

Fifty-four counties that didn't violate soot standards in 2004 — the last time EPA put out such a list — now do. They include areas around Fairbanks and Juneau, Alaska; Nogales, Ariz.; Pinehurst, Idaho; Davenport and Muscatine, Iowa; Klamath and Oakridge, Ore.; Provo and Salt Lake City, Utah; Seattle, Wash.; Green Bay, Madison, and Milwaukee, Wis., and the Logan, Utah, area that also includes part of Franklin County, Idaho.

I find it very difficult to believe these cities with low populations have this much of a soot problem from woodstoves and disel trucks. The USAF sprays, the particles fall heating the air as they fall and they are breathed by us at the surface. I work with outdoor PSU II pumps and have records of the air quality dating back to 2006, whenever the USAF sprays upwind of us in the Baltimore/DC area, it shows up in our air monitors. The worst of the days often have high temperatures that exceed forecasted high temperatures by a few degrees. I said that spraying over Ohio on 8/7/07 was a payback to Constellation Energy from the USAF to bring record highs over the Central MD region. I have paperwork from PSU machines to prove this that would hold up in Federal Court. I've also come up with a mathematical algorithim to demonstrate this problem. This is the proof we need to prove this project exists.

Looking at Fairbanks that is surrounded by trees which should reduce pollution a great deal. London planted trees to clean up polluttion. Which helped solve some illnesses.

There is always a haze on clear days from spraying.

Anywhere in the world - on clear blue sky days there is always a haze! Not by nature but spray!

How about Antarctica? How much airtraffic do they get anyway, look at the atmosphere.

Here in the Eastern US, some air masses are much cleaner than other. Those that originate over Siberia and travel across Canada and into the US are extremely clean. Those that originate from the Pacific are pretty dirty and the worst is when the SW flow hooks up from Mexico. That air is unbelievably dirty. There's always some sort of background pollution in the form of particles. The issue becomes when we can track chemtrails on satellite photos and observe their fallout on the radars.
I had a chat with a representative of the Maryland Department of Envirnoment and the DC Department of Envirnoment. The air machines that were used in this testing are testing for particles greater than 2.5 micrometers and they sample every 72 hours. That is the samples that are collected are over a 72hr period. I know Northern VA has more advanced sampling equipment, I'd like to see how their sampling is conducted. The sampling that I acquire is every 18-27hours with a diameter greater than 3 micrometers. If the state of MD and the district of columbia is the National US EPA standard for soot testing, then there is a reason why the EPA will never expose this project. The machines they use to sample the particle pollution in the air will never be precise enough time wise for it to catch the USAF in the process.

Some of that soot is coming from Asia and their lax PostThu Dec 25, 2008 2:23 am  Reply with quote

pollution standards. Come to think of it I am not sure if Asia has any reasonable pollutions standards what so ever.

Scientists have recently reported that they have tracked pollution plumes traveling across the Pacific that are having a direct and measurable degradation of our atmosphere.

Linfen China the most polluted city in the world. You guys have got to see this video of what they are doing to their own environment.

The good news from China is that they are taking the lead in solar by having plans to produce double the world's current production levels.

More than 20 companies in China are setting up polysilicon plants, for a combined capacity estimated at 80,000 to 100,000 tons, more than double the 40,000 tons currently produced in the entire world. What’s driving the demand for China’s photovoltaic solution? Whereas a ton of polysilicon usually goes for about $84,500, Chinese companies can make it at $21,000 to $56,000 a ton.

Climate Change Melts Man!
NASA Satellite Tracks Movement of Pollution from East Asia to North America

Seems like lots of Chinese released particulates are flowing towards Alaska because of the prevailing and not so prevailing winds......

It turns out our Chinese imports aren't limited to just cheaper goods - pollution accounts for a fairly hefty slice. In fact, that pollution may be equivalent to a not trivial 15% of local emissions in Canada and the U.S. This is but one of the stunning findings of a new study done by NASA scientists looking at the amount of pollution that makes its way to western North America from China every year. These pollutants, which have doubled over the last two decades, consist primarily of aerosols.

Large aerosol clusters appear as brown blots on the included image, with darker ones accounting for heavier concentrations; the red points in East Asia correspond with large forest fires, which emit vast amounts of aerosols into the atmosphere, and the black areas account for human populations. According to the scientists, the red, or fire, points are directly related to the aerosol patches appearing over China.

Just wanted to share something with the forum that I was researching a few months ago that might shed some light on part of the Alaskan pollution anomaly.

Merry Christmas happy Hanuka happy holidays to all !!!

weather man I hope your father is recovering from his recent accident.
