HAL TURNER HAS BEEN ARRESTED PostThu Jun 04, 2009 9:06 pm  Reply with quote

HAL TURNER HAS BEEN ARRESTED

June3, 2009

North Bergen, NJ (TRN) -- At about 4:00 this afternoon, Hal received a call from the North Bergen Police telling him to go to the Police Station because they had received a tip from a credible source about a death threat made against him and they needed to talk. He arrived at the station at about 4:10 and was arrested at 4:15. It seems that the state of Connecticut issued a warrant for his arrest for making "Harassing Communications". There is no other information available at this time. At this point, any and all donations toward his defense would be greatly appreciated.

Quite obviously, the Hal Turner Show will not air tonight. All other shows will run as scheduled.

From http://crooksandliars.com

Radio host Hal Turner — accused of hosting a website that incited Connecticut Catholics to "take up arms" and singling out two Connecticut lawmakers and a state ethics official — was taken into custody in New Jersey late today after state Capitol police obtained an arrest warrant for him.

Turner, who has been identified as a white supremacist and anti-Semite by several anti-racism groups, hosts an Internet radio program with an associated blog. Last week, the blog included a post that promised to release the home addresses of state Rep. Michael Lawlor, state Sen. Andrew McDonald and Thomas Jones of the ethics office.

"Mr. Turner's comments are above and beyond the threshold of free speech," Capitol police Chief Michael J. Fallon said in an e-mail announcing the warrant. "He is inciting others through his website to commit acts of violence and has created fear and alarm. He should be held accountable for his conduct."

What apparently gave Turner an excuse to issue threats this time was an ongoing dispute in Connecticut over legislation affecting the Roman Catholic hierarchy in the state:

"It is our intent to foment direct action against these individuals personally," the blog stated. "These beastly government officials should be made an example of as a warning to others in government: Obey the Constitution or die."

And, the post continued, "If any state attorney, police department or court thinks they're going to get uppity with us about this; I suspect we have enough bullets to put them down too."

UPDATE ON HAL TURNER PostFri Jun 05, 2009 9:50 pm  Reply with quote

UPDATE ON HAL TURNER

June 5, 2009

The arrest warrant issued wasn't just for the charge of "Harassing Communications." It was a "Fugitive from Justice" warrant. The state of Connecticut claims that they allegedly contacted Mr. Turner and asked him to turn himself in (no such request was made). When he didn't follow through with this alleged request (because no such request was made), they issued the "Fugitive from Justice" warrant, which called for the North Bergen Police to arrest him on the charge of "Harassing Communications". That is all the information we have at this time.

Again, any and all donations toward Mr. Turner's defense would be greatly appreciated.

FBI Arrests White Supremacist Blogger Hal Turner PostFri Jun 26, 2009 4:13 pm  Reply with quote

FBI Arrests White Supremacist Blogger Hal Turner For Threatening To Kill Federal Judges

June 24, 2009

FBI agents went to the New Jersey home of white supremacist blogger/radio host Hal Turner and arrested him “on a federal complaint filed in Chicago alleging that he made internet postings threatening to assault and murder three federal appeals court judges in Chicago in retaliation for their recent ruling upholding handgun bans in Chicago and a suburb,” according to a statement released by the Justice Department. A summary of Turner’s dangerous tirade against the judges:

Internet postings on June 2 and 3 proclaimed “outrage” over the June 2, 2009, handgun decision by Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook and Judges Richard Posner and William Bauer, of the Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, further stating, among other things: “Let me be the first to say this plainly: These Judges deserve to be killed.” The postings included photographs, phone numbers, work address and room numbers of these judges, along with a photo of the building in which they work and a map of its location.

Turner’s posts also “referred to the murder of the mother and husband of Chicago-based federal Judge Joan Humphrey Lefkow in February 2005,” saying, “Apparently, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court didn’t get the hint after those killings. It appears another lesson is needed.” In the Justice Department statement, U.S. attorney Patrick Fitzgerald — who announced the charges — said, “We take threats to federal judges very seriously. Period.”

Turner is already in trouble with the law. Earlier this month, he turned himself in to the Connecticut State Police on charges of “inciting violence” against three state officials. He urged his audience to “take up arms” because he was reportedly “angry over legislation that would have given lay members of Roman Catholic churches in Connecticut more control over their parish’s finances.” Turner’s next court appearance in this case is on July 14.

Accused man paid by FBI, newspaper says PostWed Dec 02, 2009 3:51 am  Reply with quote

Accused man paid by FBI, newspaper says

Ventura County Star
November 30, 2009

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- A New Jersey blogger about to stand trial on charges he made death threats against federal judges apparently was paid by the FBI in its battle against domestic terrorism, according to a published report.

The Record of Bergen County reported Sunday that Hal Turner received thousands of dollars from the FBI to report on neo-Nazis and white supremacist groups and was sent undercover to Brazil.

Turner also claims the FBI coached him to make racist, anti-Semitic and other threatening statements on his radio show, but the newspaper also found many federal officials were concerned that his audience might follow up on his violence rhetoric.

The newspaper reviewed numerous government documents, e-mails, court records and almost 20 hours of jailhouse interviews with Turner.

He goes on trial Tuesday in New York, accused of making death threats against three Chicago-based federal appeals judges after saying in Internet postings in June the judges “deserve to be killed” because they had refused to overturn handgun bans in Chicago and suburban Oak Park.

The postings included the photos and work addresses of the judges -- Richard Posner, Frank Easterbrook, and William Bauer -- plus a picture of the Dirksen Federal Courthouse in downtown Chicago and notations indicating the placement of “anti-truck bomb barriers.”

Turner’s FBI connection began in 2003 with the Newark-based Joint Terrorism Task Force and continued on and off until this year, according to the newspaper.

He claims his postings and other inflammatory statements were part of an undercover operation to ferret out violent left-wing radicals.

His lawyer, Michael Orozco, has subpoenaed Chris Christie, the former U.S. Attorney for New Jersey to testify on Turner’s behalf.

In an affidavit filed with the subpoena, Orozco says Christie knew of Turner’s activities from 1002 to 2008 while Christie held his federal post.

Orozco says Christie issued a letter saying he would not prosecute Turner for his statements.

Federal prosecutors and FBI officials declined comment on Turner’s claims.

Documents show federal agents growing more anxious about Turner’s extremist views while valuing his ties to right-wing hate groups, the newspaper said.
