ICU812: Of course they have been trying to find ways to keep engines from getting worn down from ingesting sand, dirt, and other particles. That is why the MiG-29 has retractable filters that cover the intake while they are taxiing on unimproved taxiways and runways.
The point I was trying to make before was not that you technically COULD if you werent trying to hide it or anything, but the fact that since they ARE trying to hide it from the pilots, if you passed this junk through the engine, it would be immediatly noticed by the pilots through the engine monitors. This would blow the operation.
If the pilots knew they were doing this, and were OK with it, then it might be possible. But passing non combustible chems through the engine will reduce the output of the engine at least noticably. |

What!!
I hope you just wrote this wrong.
What F.A.C.T. that tHey ARE trying to hide it from the pilots?
Maybe you know more than you're admitting to!!
Tell me more about the facts!
ALuminum/ Barium exist in the snow behind your heads up display.
Tell me there are no KC-135's/ DC-10's/ EC-3's with ASPEX or MASS systems on them.
Tell me that SWMS aren't in place and being used for weather mod.
Tell me that ACE, FIRE, SUCCESS, pathfinder, SASS, ARM, TRADEOFF, triana, BACIMO 2000, CHANCES, cargsun2, SPADE, WCOMP, GEWEX, NEXRAD, UNEP, WCRP, EUCREX, INDOEX, CLIVAR, RFMP, modis and the contrail forecast are for our good humor.
Tell me you've studied the 'atmospheric sciences' of weather modification and 'climate engineering' and know what the potential is.
Tell me you've studied Nikola Tesla's writings.
Tell me the drought won't last long, is simply cyclical and wasn't the product of anthropogenic influences.
Tell me that Cambridge, Texas T&M, Colostate, Washington, U of A and so many other incredible institutions don't have the ability to apply their sciences to the atmosphere.
Tell me that Zhang, Frey, Ackerman, Menzel, Lawson, Heymsfield, Aulenbach, Jensen, Wolf, Rutledge, Bodansky, Dickinson, Fogg, Trenberth, Houghton, Jamieson and Laroussi haven't figured out what to do with our ever changing climate.
Tell me the 9th, 12th, 18th, 55th, 88th and the 109th are only dates on the calender.
And I'll believe you!!
Let me know if you want to do more research yet!! Not tryin' to be a hack, but there's a lot out there for all of us to learn!!

After reading this "novel" I'll be double checking my PDC for excess [*'s] and FMC loading prior to launch. Accuload with suspect entries, will prompt me to contact my load planner with a copy of this ex-"pilot's" "story"!
Very entertaining!
ALCON - A REAL Pilot ** CTB BS **
P.S. I did enter - - **BS** - - into my FMC last flight and the printer supplied me with a copy of the "novel"... Very interesting. |

Interesting...I've never seen an FMC (Flight Management Computer) with a printer before. I'm a pilot and I didn't get half of what you said...sure it's not contrived? |

Someone here explain static wicks, yes this
does come from the mechanics statement, but
I want to know if this is bs or is it possible? and how many do most jets have,
do they run a couple on each side of the
jet? and am I correct they are basically
a ground cable? |

Static wicks are real. They are found on every type of aircraft, from little Cessna single engine planes, to high speed Gulfstream bizjets, to large "Jumbo" aircaft Boeing/airbus/embraer etc. Most often though they are on the larger sized aircraft.
The static wicks come in different sizes but essentially serve the same function. They discharge static electricity into the air. if the static had no way to discharge, it could jump into the structure and cause all kinds of problems.
Hope this helps.

well my next question is this, if you replaced one on each side for the bigger
sprayers, would that take away the function
or does there have to be several to do this?
I hope I'm making myself clear with my
question. |

Well from my understanding it would take away the static protection of the surface the wick was attatched to.
I find the "discharge nozzle" story hard to believe, but not impossible, although highly unlikely. I've been around medium sized jet aircraft up close and I have never seen anything like this.No pipes. Nothing like that.
I think it's in the jet fuels myself.
Whatever it is. Something isn't right with the skies. This is new. Contrails didn't exist for 6 hours or more when I was growing up in the 70's and 80's.
I think a lot of people here can attest to that statement.
