Dear Mr. LWR:
I am not sure I understand the significance of the SUCCESS program as it applies to ‘chemtrails’ vis-à-vis ‘contrails’.
From my admittedly quick overview of the literature, it seems that the purpose of the program was to investigate if there is a correlation between aircraft exhaust and subsequent formation of cirrus clouds. This would make sense, because, under certain conditions, the ice crystals comprising the contrails would act as a ‘seed’ to cause ice-crystal (i.e., cirrus cloud) formation in the atmosphere.
The increased cirrus cloud cover could have significant long-term climatic effects, based on daytime cooling as the increased cloud cover blocks some incoming solar radiation; and nighttime warming, as the same increased cloud cover blocks some outgoing radiation from the heated planetary surface.
But there is nothing controversial about that. To the best of my knowledge, just about anyone involved in meteorology accepts the fact that jet contrails have the potential to act as ‘seeds’ for cloud-formation, and that cloud-formation can have significant climatic effects.
But what does it have to do with the hypothesis of contrails as containing something other than ice and engine combustion byproducts? Please understand that I am not a meteorologist; I’d like to hear someone with more expertise than I give some further information of the significance of the SUCCESS program.

This program was going on in the late 90s. There has been much information written about it on other boards and discussed. I believe things have proceeded on a different pathway.
If you look further you can see all kinds of programs NASA, government involved in in the 80s and 90s. Keep looking and researching to see the history of it all. |
