Bush Allows Gays to be Fired for Being Gay PostWed Mar 24, 2004 1:59 am  Reply with quote

BUSH ALLOWS GAYS TO BE FIRED FOR BEING GAY

Despite President Bush's pledge that homosexuals "ought to have the same
rights" (1) as all other people, his Administration this week ruled that
homosexuals can now be fired from the federal workforce because of their
sexual orientation.

According to the Federal Times, the president's appointee at the Office of
Special Counsel ruled that federal employees will now "have no recourse if
they are fired or demoted simply for being gay." (2) While the Bush
Administration says it is legally prohibited from firing a person for their
conduct, they have the legal right to fire or demote someone based on their
sexual orientation. To carry out the directive, the White House has begun
removing information from government websites about sexual orientation
discrimination in the workplace. (3)

Not only does the new directive contradict the president's own promise to
treat homosexuals as equals under the law, but it also contradicts what the
Administration told Congress. As noted in a bipartisan letter from four
Senators to the Administration, "During the confirmation process [of the
president's appointee], you assured us that you were committed to protecting
federal employees against unlawful discrimination related to their sexual
orientation." (4)

Was listening to a red-neck conservative talk show on the radio today discussing the gay marriage issue and none of this was mentioned! Hmmm!

Gotta know the enemy! LOL!

Thetaloops, Show-Me-Truth, Mech, scareforthefutureand, I have just about exhausted this subject:
http://www.chemtrailcentral.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000682.html

I will say again...It is the first time in the history of the US, that an amendment is desired to be added to The Constitution that TAKES AWAY rights. It is Un-Constitutional, and that is that. Equal Rights under The Constitution. Like Inter-racial marriage and Womyn's Right to Vote, the time has come today.

What gets me is that all the people that are against it are hetero-sexuals, who are running a 50% divorce rate. Two large studies on gays and lesbians, together for a least 5 years, run a 15% break up rate. Awful lot of broken glass from throwing stones at glass windows.

Personally, I think most Ultra-Conservatives think Love is Sex, rather than Love is something much more deep and profound. Remember Born-Again Ken Starr wanting to know every detail of Clinton's Pecker.

County retreats from call to ban gays
Thursday, March 18, 2004 Posted: 10:49 PM EST (0349 GMT)

DAYTON, Tennessee (AP) -- The county that was the site of the Scopes "Monkey Trial" over the teaching of evolution Thursday reversed its call to ban homosexuals.

Rhea County commissioners took about three minutes to retreat from a request to amend state law so the county can charge homosexuals with crimes against nature. The Tuesday measure passed 8-0.

County attorney Gary Fritts said the initial vote triggered a "wildfire" of reaction. "I've never seen nothing like this," he said Thursday.

But Fritts said it was all a misunderstanding.

"They wanted to send a message to our (state) representative and senator that Rhea County supports the ban on same-sex marriage," he said. "Same-sex marriage is what it was all about. It was to stop people from coming here and getting married and living in Rhea County."

Not that the issue of banning homosexuals didn't arise.

"I'm not saying it wasn't discussed," Fritts said. "Sometimes you had five or six people talking."

Fritts said he advised the commissioners they cannot ban homosexuals or make them subject to criminal charges. The U.S. Supreme Court in 2003 struck down Texas' sodomy laws as a violation of adults' privacy.

Fritts said he doesn't believe the issue will come up again.

"I think they got all the publicity they need about it," he said.

All of the commissioners declined to comment Thursday.

Social worker Esther Jackson, 24 -- one of 300 people who attended Thursday's meeting -- held a sign reading: "Breed Love, Not Hate."

"It's just ignorance is all," she said of Tuesday's vote.

But 12-year-old Caitlin Kinney, attending the meeting with her mother, said she supported the commissioners' initial vote.

"I think they should go further, try to see if they can ban them," she said. "It's not a Christian thing."

The politically conservative county holds an annual festival commemorating the 1925 trial at which high school teacher John T. Scopes was convicted of teaching evolution. The verdict was reversed on a technicality, and the trial became the subject of the play and movie "Inherit the Wind."

This thread is not about gay marriage! It's about the Bush administration passing a directive that discrimates against gays ON THE JOB!

This is yet another coat of a similar color!

The gays that get fired for being gay in the service and in government positions will be furious!

quote:
"..have no recourse if
they are fired or demoted simply for being gay." (2) While the Bush
Administration says it is legally prohibited from firing a person for their
conduct, they have the legal right to fire or demote someone based on their
sexual orientation. To carry out the directive, the White House has begun

discrimination in the workplace.

Bush will go down!
