CHEMTRAILS LETTER TO MOTHER JONES

Dear Mr. Cohn:
Enjoyed your “cake” issue – and would like to flag you on a reporting error in the Kucinich coverage, which stated that the bill introduced by the congressman outlawing exotic space weapons (HR 2977) included a provision banning “chemtrails”.
This is true. And Mr. Kucinich did take such heavy flack over this single word that he had to introducer a follow-up bill avoiding any mention of those pesky sky trails.
But chemtrails are not “the vapors left by jets” as Charles Bowden reported. Commonly known as contrails, these short-lived vapor trails are indeed a potent greenhouse contributor, which NASA estimates have resulted in as much as 20% additional artificial cloud cover over heavily flown regions of the USA since the Jet Age took off in the ’70’s. This is mirrored by a 10% increase in contrail-induced cirrus over Europe. Which is why a Royal Commission in Britain recently called for the immediate grounding of all short-haul jet flights.
Amen to that recommendation. But as the reporter who broke the “chemtrails” story for the Environment News Service in Jan. 1999 - and has followed this phenomenon ever since - I have learned that chemical trails or “chemtrails” are being spread over Canada, the USA and a dozen other allied nations by USAF tanker planes in a process US Air Force Weather Force Specialists call “aerial obscuration”.
Scientists working on this project at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio told Columbus Alive newsman Bob Fitrakis that aerial spraying seen constantly over American communities is aimed at slowing runaway greenhouse warming by spreading enough shiny aluminum oxide particulates to reflect about 1% of incoming sunlight.
The late Edward Teller, father of the H-Bomb, pushed this sunscreen idea in ’98 – ’99, after computer simulations carried out at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory showed the scheme would work. An earlier patent issued to Hughes Aircraft Corp. serves as a blueprint for this geoengineering project, which Teller assured government leaders would permit petroleum pollution and profits as usual.
Independent laboratory tests of chemtrail fallout in Espanola, Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta confirm levels of sunlight-reflecting “aluminum” many times higher than provincial health limits. The tiny particulate size of this fallout - 10 microns – is termed an “extreme human health hazard” by the EPA. (100 microns is the diameter of a human hair.)
The scientists at “Wright Pat” also said that a second, more publicized project, adds barium to the chemtrail mix. These temporary “sky antennas” are used to conduct radar and radio waves over the horizon for military purposes. Barium chemtrails, added the scientists, are also used to conduct HAARP’s extreme high-energy beam onto “targets” worldwide. HAARP’s inventor, Bernard Eastlund, told me the original purpose of his ionospheric heater was “weather modification”. HAARP is also intended to overload power grids and disrupt communications. According to a strong protest lodged by the Russian government last February on the front page of Pravda, the Alaska beam weapon’s Earth and human brain-resonant frequencies can also cause earthquakes and “produce apathy” in entire populations. They should know.
The EU has also strongly denounced HAARP, and is currently looking into chemtrails.

ITALIANS CONCERNED OVER CHEMTRAILS COME TO NORTH AMERICA LOOKING FOR ANSWERS AND ALLIES
Exclusive Report by William Thomas
Concerned countrymen have dispatched two Italian filmmakers to document chemtrails on the other side of the Atlantic. After flying in from Rome earlier this week, Vincent Gambino and Duccio Benvenuti interviewed the author – and were interviewed in turn at his island hideout.
Vincent and Duccio showed video recently filmed from their 3,500 year old village in northern Italy. Located 500 meters above the sparkling Mediterranean, the descendants of ancient Rome look out daily on air traffic departing and landing at a major airport to the south. While high-flying airliners sometimes scrawl brief contrails across flawless skies, the predominantly low-altitude aircraft leave no contrails at all.
But sparse contrails have not spared the town’s airspace from becoming completely obscured by jet trails in recent years.
“We wake up some days and the whole sky is filled with trails, and there is no good explanation of this,” Vincent said.
Excellent digital footage presented by the pair showed extensive criss-crossing plumes coalescing and spreading out over Italian skies – the unmistakable signature of chemtrails. Pointing to the extensive sky grids, Vincent said simply, “Impossible.”
“FAMOUS WHITE PLANES”
Vincent related how a protest last year among airport workers at Fiumicino received prominent media coverage in Italy, after a USAF tanker Vincent referred to as another “famous white plane” landed and taxied to a cordoned off section of Rome’s big international airport. “No one was allowed close for two or three days,” Vincent recalls. Airport workers were angry at the secrecy surrounding the white American air force plane, he said, and the fact that they “couldn’t do their jobs.”
Working closely with Nexus Italy, Vincent has been investigating chemtrails since becoming aware of them fouling Italy’s skies two years ago. Hoping to spur awareness and action across a country intensely interested in information overlooked or censored by the mainstream press, the two filmmakers are producing a one-hour documentary on chemtrails for Italian audiences.
A TALE OF TWO TOWNS
During their visit to Canada, the Italians were especially interested in the experience of Espanola. Repeatedly overflown by photo-identified U.S. Air Forcer tankers spraying broad white plumes that made people sick over 50 square-miles in the spring and summer of 1991, this small community west of Sudbury, Ontario was the first to petition a national government to stop chemtrail spraying. (An activist involved in the early Espanola protest said in a recent interview that while spraying has dropped off there, "I'm convinced people here have died as a result of this spraying, including a close friend.")
Vincent added that a village located in a valley north of Venice has undergone an aerial onslaught similar to Espanola’s. In Fletre In Val Belluna, “people started complaining” after many took ill following heavy chemtrailing there.
On November 18, 2001 Espanola residents presented a petition to the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa, demanding an explanation and cessation of aerial spraying. The Canadian Department of National Defense, which does not operate tanker planes, eventually replied, “It’s not us.”
Somewhat enigmatically, DND added, “The Canadian Forces have confirmed that they are not aware of any visiting foreign military aircraft having requested diplomatic clearance to conduct aerial spraying or to drop chaff in the vicinity of Espanola."
With 15% of NORAD’s Cheyenne Mountain air defense headquarters staffed by Canadian military officers, U.S. military overflights are daily occurrences over Canada. Military exercises – including chemtrails, according to the Victoria Airport Authority - are arranged directly between Canadian and U.S. commanders; not by civilian “diplomatic” requests.
In Italy, a “Parliamentary interrogation” - or investigation – into the purpose and composition of chemtrails is now being sought. The Italians hope to raise the issue of chemtrails before the European Union, as well. After protesting HAARP, it is hoped that the government representing a growing number of European countries will also condemn chemtrails.
ESPANOLA LAB TESTS
In Espanola, lab tests of rainwater falling through extensive chemtrail plumes revealed levels of aluminum seven-times higher than existing provincial safety limits for drinking water. Other spray simply fell as visible, flesh-stinging particles, thick as snow.
Microscopic quartz particles predominated in the Espanola chemtrails analysis, with one chemtrails fallout sample taken from a car windshield showing an 80% quartz component. The electrical conductivity of quartz – especially its use by Nikola Tesla in his high-energy experiments - has raised speculation that the spraying over Espanola may have been connected with HAARP – and/or airborne laser experiments using a Boeing 747 as a weapons platform. An amateur radio operator has detected high levels of electrical energy over Espanola during heavy chemtrail spraying. On one occasion the Prime Minister’s aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing due to “electrical problems” while flying through the area.
THE TESLA CENTER
Also known as the “Tesla Center”, Ohio’s Wright Patterson Air Force Base is said to be the repository of that energy inventor’s prodigious papers and patents. Two scientists working on the chemtrail project at “Wright Pat” told Columbus Alive reporter Bob Fitrakis that besides climate-modification, temporary “chemical antennas” utilize barium sprayed by air force tankers to conduct radio and radar waves over-the-horizon. Extremely high energy beamed from HAARP could also be ”ducted” by barium chemtrails, affecting countries thousands of miles away from those planet-threatening Alaskan transmitters. HAARP HAUNTS ITALIANS
The Italians are especially concerned over HAARP. Despite the European Union’s diplomatic condemnation of HAARP several years ago, the monster with electronic claws continues to grow.
The holder of the original HAARP patents, Bernard Eastlund, has said that because of limited available electricity through a rural Alaska power grid, the only way for HAARP to reach high-power would be to generate its own power using North Slope natural gas. So HAARP watchers took note when, late last month as HAARP was ordered to double power output, the Bush administration approved natural gas drilling on Alaska’s North Slope.
Already the most powerful energy transmitter used to turn planetary processes against themselves, radio-frequency specialist Richard Lampe announced at last September’s Radio Frequency Interference meeting that HAARP’s experimenters hope to quadruple the power of its steerable energy beam “from its current 960 kW output to 3.6 Megawatts.” [The ARRL Letter Oct31/03]
DARPA’s drastic if not demented and possibly demonic 400% boost to HAARP’s already radical radiations will make this troposphere-twisting transmitter the worst in the world by orders of extremely risky magnitude.
BUT WHY?
The original idea and intent, Eastlund told me in an earlier interview for The Georgia Straight, was to manipulate weather at great distances using HAARP’s computer-controlled antenna array to “steer” part of the ionosphere around. (Think of Earth doffing her protective cap to killing gamma and x-rays from unprecedented solar flares.)
HAARP on steroids is not pretty to contemplate. But as Chemtrails Confirmed documents, the real plan is to pluck HAARP at one-billion watts - at which time all eco bets are off.
The HAARPists assured HAM radio operators that their beast is muzzled whenever its beam wanders to jam the entire75/80 meter band. But the taboo topic of what happens when HAARP’s high-power pulses trigger a cascading resonance in the ionosphere was not discussed.
The answer, according to engineers working on the project, is that HAARP’s hellish beam can be further energized by the energy already in the ionosphere. That extra shove invites another escalating oscillation - and so on - until our spaceship does a Columbia and shreds her protective outer shielding. The one that keeps cosmic rays out and Earth’s paper-thin atmosphere in. (Does anyone still believe that everything about the shuttle’s crackup was not a metaphor for our times – and an omen?)
EASTLUND’S CURRENT PROJECTS
Hoping to cash in on climate change, Eastlund says that his company ESEC has recently signed a contract with the European Space Agency “to review the weather modification potential of the HAARP facility in Alaska.”
Eastlund is also looking to abort budding tornadoes with HAARP - effectively turning off these whirling dervishes before wind speeds reach destructive force.
Another company courting catastrophes has already used USAF chemtankers to spray tons of gel into a budding hurricane in order to dry up the moisture that drove it. Who can argue with saving lives and property? But neither Eastlund nor Dyn-O-Mat has satisfactorily explained what happens to energy equivalent to hundreds of hydrogen bombs “dissipated” from tornadoes and hurricanes into our spaceship’s closed recirculating atmosphere. All that extreme weather-causing heat has to go somewhere.
Meanwhile, as exceptionally sudden and severe off-season tornadoes keep trying to remind North Americans of our folly, Eastlund enthuses over how all the juice needed to zap ”twisters” will magically emanate from “high power electromagnetic radiation produced with solar power satellites.”
Remember: we are all antennas. Even as low-power cellphones become recognized as worthy successors to Big Tobacco’s misery and mortalities, the Texas inventor has yet to describe the effects on wild and human lives already being hosed by HAARP at its present power levels.
For Eastlund, the danger of dreaming on planetary scales is that smaller details – such as the planet’s inhabitants – can be overlooked. His present preoccupations with HAARP include using it as a “missile shield antenna” against anyone stupid enough to invite instant massive retaliation by shooting anything bigger than a spitball through the air at the United States.
Whatever excuse is used, a handful of ionospheric hot-rodders want to hold HAARP’s pedal down. His personal fantasy, Eastlund says using somewhat different terms, is to unleash one-trillion-watts of power into the electrically Chaotic region capping our planet. As the sun continues to burp tsunamis of energy at the ionosphere, the unpredictable outcomes of goosing this already unpredictably fluctuating realm with so much more power include wild weather and blown-our power grids thousands of miles from Alaska. And maybe no more ionosphere.
If destroying Earth as a habitable planet is not ambitious enough, Eastlund’s “Current Projects Menu” also includes more techno “quick fixes” to planet-threatening pollution too profitable to make and “clean-up” to curb:
q weather modification using HAARP and North Slope gas
q high power solar satellites for weather modification
q ozone hole mitigation using electromagnetic processes some scientists fear could actually destroy the remnants of Spaceship Earth’s tattered radiation shielding.
But not if our Italian chemtrails allies can help it. According to the visiting filmmakers, Italy’s Democratic Left party - the country’s recent former government and now Italy’s official Opposition – is demanding a Parliamentary investigation into chemtrails and their possible connection to HAARP.
BARIUM FOUND IN CHEMTRAILS OVER ITALY, CANADA, USA
In Edmonton, Alberta last winter - after city landscape contractor Dave Dickie found electrical conductivity in city soils as much as 4.6 – 7-times higher than normal and acceptable levels - tests conducted by Nor-West Labs on snow samples collected from extensive chemtrails found levels of aluminum oxide and barium in northeast Edmonton at more than twice the levels recorded at a heavily polluted diamond mine.
Though barium is twice as reflectant as glass – and thus serves well as a sunlight reflector called for in the late Dr. Edward Teller’s “sunscreen” scheme – this common electrolyte is also an excellent conductor of electricity.
Vincent says that his group is currently raising money for more extensive – and expensive - tests on chemtrail fallout. But after collecting “white material” from the chemclouds, the Italians have already found “barium salts” in the mix.
While many barium salts are relatively “safe”, other barium compounds have been used as rat poison. Though the filmmakers did not know the type of barium identified in Italian chemtrails, we all wondered just who are the lab rats in this ongoing secret experiment?
Vincent reported widespread health effects following chemtrail spraying – including sudden nosebleeds suffered by his mother, sister and father in Florence after “many trails” there 18 months ago.
SMALL ORBS FILMED AROUND CHEMTRAILS IDENTIFIED
In other developments, video of small white orbs filmed near chemtrails in Italy have been identified as robot drones originally developed by the Italian military’s “Project Cipher”. The program was sold to the U.S. military after Cipher funding ran out in Italy in the ‘Seventies.
CHEMTRAILS SPRAYED FROM WINGS, NOT ENGINES
Duccio and Vincent also said they have excellent, high-resolution photos of spray coming off the entire trailing edge of sprayplane wings – “not the engines,” Vincent emphasized.
In their rush to make connections, the CD containing these pictures and other material was unfortunately left behind. I hope to post these photos - as well as exclusive footage of chemtrails over Italy - on this website shortly.
CONTRAILS DECREASING AS CHEMTRAIL COMPLAINTS CONTINUE
In related developments, NASA scientists say that despite a steady increase in commercial air traffic over Europe and the Continental United States in recent decades, normal airliner contrails have significantly decreased over central Europe, the heavily traveled North Atlantic Flight Corridor and the USA.
NASA’s 2002 study, “An Estimation of CONUS Contrail Frequency” used computer algorithms developed by atmospheric expert Patrick Minnis to estimate contrail frequency. The chemtrails debunker found that as of May 2002, estimates of contrail coverage over the North Atlantic and central Europe "are significantly smaller than those given in 1994.”
CONTRAILS – HEALTH HAZARD?
Official insistence that contrails are harmless is dangerous nonsense. Formed when pollutants and moisture in hot jet exhaust is momentarily flash-frozen on contact with a sometimes super-cold stratosphere, condensation trails from jet engines contain highly toxic petroleum particulates – including carcinogenic benzenes and naphthalene – as well as heavy concentrations of soot, and other contaminants detrimental to life. While jet fuel “fallout” readings under heavily-traveled air routes are not publicized, residents living around airports and military air bases continue to be stricken by jet fuel pollution in their air and drinking water. JP-8 - the sweet-smelling intoxicant connected with jet flight - is actually quite nasty. Since Desert Storm felled so many tanker crews, sparking a pilots’ exodus from the Air National Guard that currently continues, the US Air Force has spent more than $25 million studying the poisoning of ground crews and other personnel exposed to jet fuel fumes.
The findings aren’t worth any kind of paycheck: lung and liver damage, severe asthma, rashes – even mutated DNA derailing future generations.
AND THE CLOUD YOU FLEW IN ON
According to German atmospheric scientists, “normal contrails” have increased cloud cover over Europe by a climate-changing 10%.
In the science of a system so vast even part of a percentage point can signal major changes, since the jet age took off in the ‘Sixties, cloud cover over the United States has increased a whopping 5%. But for Americans living beneath heavily trafficked air corridors, 12,000 bumper-to-bumper jetliners making 62 million flights a year have increased local cloud cover by 20% - enough to crank the climate thermostat and the weather.
All this before chemtrails were added to the artificial cloud-making mix - starting big time around the winter of 1998, when so many got sick. Since then, citizens in at least 14 nations have been enduring the theft of their serenity, health and blue skies by chemtrails, contrails - or both.
It is all pollution. Even the “harmless” water vapor from all those jet engines traps five-times more heat than the CO2 spewed by those same toxic turbines.
The highest contrail concentrations in North America have been found over the Pacific Northwest, central Canada and the eastern Midwestern U.S.A. But NASA now reports that these regions – which used to see twice the number of contrails as the continental average – have been seeing significantly fewer contrails since the winter of 2001.
Which is interesting, since during this same time period people in Portland, Seattle and other Pacific Northwest centers were yelling bloody murder about being “hammered” by chemtrails. [Chemtrails Confirmed]
Even as international air transport authorities rejoice in reporting airline travel back to “near normal” planet-wrecking levels following airliner-delivered Sept. 11 and SARS, NASA studies have found “unusual weather patterns” – not curtailed airline flights – are causing the curtailed contrails … even as chemtrails over cities such as Portland, Marin and Santa Cruz remain a daily curse.
TAKE IT HIGHER
A Nov. 25 radio show in Santa Cruz heard many listeners calling in to express their outrage over continuous chemtrail activity over this previously sunny California coastal city.
With Orwell being more ruthlessly rewritten, and the Reich reemerging under the successor to its first Bush patron, perhaps it is time to envision connecting the issues, principles and coordinators that so far this year have brought more than 20 million people into the streets of our global village.
Imagine including chemtrails in anti-war, anti-globalist, peace, ecology and social justice
speeches and protests! After all, these issues are linked fundamentally. And the hour is so late, it’s already past. (We’re now in overtime. Together.)
Hopefully, the evidence and video Vincent and Duccio are bringing back to Italy can persuade parliaments in that country and the European Union to sound loud and uncooperative alarms over the chemtrails their own governments must be approving.
Which would be interesting.
BUSH THE GREAT UNIFIER
“Who gave Bush permission to do these things?” Vincent asked just before I spilled the pasta into the sink.
While we could still enjoy dishrack-drained fettuccini, it seems that none us at the table could stomach “Boosh”. From the stories the Italians related, current European concerns revolve around America’s increasingly Israeli-like occupation of Iraq, Bush’s last sanctioned stampede of the world’s worst carbon cowboys, the gulag at Guantanamo, implantable cash-and-ID chips, surveillance cameras and internal “watch lists”, complete suspension of the US Constitution and open talk by the Pentagon of a military government soon, the imminent and total bankruptcy of the world’s most indebted nation, depleted uranium as the Pentagon’s urban weapon-of-choice – and the real show stopper, to which everything else is a distraction.
If you don’t think you’re part of a Sixth Great Extinction Event proceeding faster than the last one that took out the dinosaurs and just about everything else – think chemtrails. And think again.
From chemtrails to climate change, global corporate extortion, and the escalating military and eco-terrorism coming from a White House as illegally occupied as Iraq - all present agreed on an ocean-spanning effort that “connects the dots” between the make-or-break issues of our times.
The time to reach out to Europe and the rest of the world is now.

CHEMTRAILS OR CONTRAILS?
FACs: FREQUENTLY AIRED CRITICISMS
FAC 1: You paranoid chemtrail conspiratorialists are seeing normal sky spoor from a marked increase in commercial air traffic. Combined with changing atmospheric conditions, these wetter and denser air masses are leading to lingering contrails and the artificial formation of cirrus-type clouds from ice-crystal condensation left by "rush hour" jet traffic.
Ans: There is no question that air traffic is up sharply throughout the world. Also that atmospheric change (including increased moisture) is contributing to increased natural and artificial cloud formation.
But not all sightings are of normal contrails. Experienced pilots, military personnel and other qualified observers note that:
1. Normal contrails dissipate less than one minute after formation. Many long-lingering "chemtrails" being reported across North America are being made at altitudes between 10,000 and 15,000 feet - well below the stratosphere where ice-crystal cloud condensation forms. Indeed, commercial aircraft entering spray zones often emit no contrails alongside "chemtrail" spraying aircraft. At higher altitudes and around airports, commercial jets have also been seen to leave pencil-thin contrails that quickly dissipate alongside fatter, billowing "chemtrails" that linger and spread out at the same altitude for hours.
2. Commercial aircraft do not cross each other's flight paths in Xs and grid-patterns at the same altitude. Concerned with making efficient point A to point B passages, airliners also do not fly back-and-forth in formation across the same patch of clear sky, laying long-lasting chemtrails for hours at a time.
Kansas
3. Commercial aircraft prominently display their airline logo, "colors" and registration numbers. While configured after commercial aircraft, observed KC-135 and KC-10 spray aircraft are usually painted white and carry no identification markings.
4. Normal contrails come from the engines and wingtips of high-flying aircraft. They do not stream from the tails of airplanes equipped with wing-mounted engines. Chemtrails, on the other hand, have been observed through high-power telescopes and binoculars to be streaming from tanker tailbooms pointing downward at a 60-degree angle - the normal configuration for deployed refueling tailbooms. Chemtrails have also been observed streaming in thick white streams inboard of the wingtips but outboard of wing-mounted jet engines, where aerial tanker refueling probes are also deployed.
5. Contrails do not make people sick. Hundreds of eye-witnesses have become ill within hours of watching chemtrails woven over their heads. Many have tasted and smelled something metallic or corrosive in the air. Check the dates and locations of peak hospital admissions alongside sightings of heavy "spray days". They match.
6. Contrails do no rain cobweb-like material and jello-like "goo" over porches, power lines and police cruisers. Most likely caused by misadjusted or malfunctioning spray nozzles, this material has been tentatively identified by a microbiologist as a "bio-matrix" for hosting and dispersing pathogens. Uncontaminated, fully-documented samples of this aerial fallout are being analyzed now. Previous (though inconclusive) samples tested in Washington state, Ohio and Wyoming have revealed the presence of highly toxic ethylene dibromide (a component of JP8 jet fuel) and Pseudomonas Flourescens (a genetically modified bacteria that is extremely antibiotic resistant). Among other severe symptoms, both of these agents cause severe upper respiratory distress.
FAC 2: You are unfairly casting aspersions on the US military, accusing them of poisoning their own people.
Ans: The US military has conducted "Open Air" biowarfare testing involving dangerous pathogens and carcinogens and resulting in illness and fatalities over hundreds of American cities without the informed consent of residents since 1949. However, because these spray aircraft are unmarked it is not possible to assert at this time that the US government and/or US military are responsible. These agencies are accountable, however, for allowing these overflights to continue.
FAC 3: You have absolutely no proof that these "contrails" are causing illness on the ground. Have you forgotten that it is the height of a particularly severe flu and asthma season?
Ans: Even at the height of the flu season, hospitals and doctors' offices across the USA, as well as in Canada and England are typically operating at twice their usual winter influx of respiratory patients, with Emergency Rooms jammed and some hospitals closed to new admissions. While outbreaks of the Sydney (A) strain and Beijing (B) strain of influenza have been identified in major North American cities (along with Respiratory Syntytial Virus causing only mild cold symptoms in adults) - the acute and recurring bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, sinusitis and unidentified viruses reported by worried doctors and nurses do not fit this "flu" designation.
Why an epidemic of pneumonia, bronchitis and unknown respiratory viruses is afflicting many thousands of adults and children coast-to-coast is unknown at this time. But it is suggestive that almost all outdoor observers of spraying have become sick with extreme respiratory symptoms within 24 hours of witnessing "contrails" unusual enough to excite comment and cause cameras and camcorders to be aimed skyward. Usually associated with damp, wet climates, outbreaks of bronchitis across the American southwest are unprecedented.
It is also suggestive that when two American veterans went to Veterans Administration hospitals for their annual flu shots several months ago, they were advised to get the pneumonia vaccine as well, because "pneumonia is going to be very big this year."
It is also suggestive that a nationwide 1-800-I-GOT-FLU tracking program is open only to participants who "qualify" by exhibiting specific symptoms after being exposed within 32-miles of known outbreaks within a specified time period.
It is also disturbing that on each of the three occasions that Washington state resident William Wallace has complained to the media of spraying over his remote mountain cabin, he and his wife Ann were attacked by jet and propeller aircraft diving in at treetop height to release spray within their property line. William and Ann Wallace remain sick, with William exhibiting several "marker" symptoms for infectious Mycoplasma Fermentans - the infamous Gulf War Illness.
After investigating GWI and exposing the origins of Gulf War Illness in my book, BRINGING THE WAR HOME it is the unconfirmed opinion of this writer that the outbreaks of Lupus and Fibromyalgia following some spraying incidents could actually be the look-alike symptoms of Mycoplasma Fermentans. The pneumonia outbreaks being reported across the USA may also be caused by Mycoplasma Pneumonia. Sputum and blood tests should be carried out to test this hypothesis.
Regarding the recent "flesh-eating" staph outbreaks in Delaware and Illinois, I also note that this Staph A belongs to the same family (genus) as Pseudomonas, strep and anthrax.
Until the lab results are in, lack of "proof" should not obscure an overwhelming preponderance of pattern and precedent. If a thousand people crowded around a field are sprayed with an unknown substance by unidentified aircraft...and if many of those people fall sick enough to be rushed to hospital...what would you conclude?

Stories about suspicious chemical trails in the sky have been floating about for years. I don't know if they're true, but if there is truth to any of them, the implications are, at the least, very disturbing.
I first heard about Chemtrails on a sunny clear day in October 2001 when I was visiting a farm near the small rural community of Marlbank, Ontario. Looking up, I noticed an unusual number of vapour trails in the blue vastness above. The trails formed a criss-cross pattern across the sky, looking as if a group of hotshot jet pilots had been horsing around. My host said that she believed they were chemtrails, that is, chemicals that are sprayed from jets. She had been noticing them for some time, but since September 11, they were appearing far more frequently, often daily. She went on to explain that odd-looking commercial airline vapour trails (contrails) were being reported all over the world since 1998. I had to admit the trails did appear strange and puzzling and so I left, determined to investigate.
I called the Ministry of the Environment in Kingston and explained what I had seen. The man I spoke to suggested it might be crop dusting. "In mid October?" He admitted that it was not likely, but that this sort of thing was not in the jurisdiction of his ministry, so he could not help me. I received a similar response from the ministry office in Toronto." An e-mail to the then Minister of Health, Allan Rock, elicited a two-page letter explaining that his ministry "was not aware of any chemtrail activity in Canada and that contrails, condensation trails, which do not pose health risks to humans, have been a normal effect of jet aviation since its earliest days." He added, "Recently, more people have noticed them because they have become more frequent as a result of the increase in air traffic transport." Some time later I received another two-page letter informing me that The Honourable Allan Rock, former Minister of Health had forwarded my email to The Honourable David M. Collenette, Minister of Transport, and that Minister Collenette wished me to know that what I had seen were "contrails, which are composed of ice particles and are a normal by-product of aircraft flying at high altitudes." The letter went on to say that contrails are becoming more common as a result of the very efficient engines of modern aircraft. I was frankly surprised to see that my short e-mail had elicited such serious responses by the offices of two busy ministers. I also wondered which minister was correct in explaining why contrails were being seen more frequently. The Sierra Club responded to my query about contrails with an e-mail saying, "Unfortunately this is an issue that the Sierra Club is not currently addressing." They recommended that I contact the Institute for Concern for Public Health. I did, but never heard back from them.
I continued to dig. On the Internet I found a barrage of websites on chemtrails, including photographs, scientific data, maps, petitions and even lab reports. It appears that there is a large network of people, including scientists, environmentalists, biomedical researchers, journalists and former members of the military, gathering information and demanding answers for this suspicious phenomenon. Citizen action groups such as Blue Skies International are actively seeking information as well.
What's going on? There are various theories as to the nature and origin of the trails. Many believe there is more than one military project operating simultaneously, but most of the websites agree on the basics: chemtrails look like contrails initially but are thicker and last longer, often hours. (According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration meteorologist Thomas Schlattes: "Even in most ideal conditions a jet contrail lasts no more than 30 minutes.") Usually chemtrails form criss-cross patterns of Xs, grids or parallel lines across the sky for miles at a time, often appearing outside of commercial airline routes. The lines widen and spread featherlike, creating a cloud cover of the sprayed substance which then settles to the ground, blanketing the area sprayed. Although the material is difficult and rare to come by in large quantities, some tests show that it contains biological material. In some cases it has been found to include building blocks of a viral nature that would have needed to be generated in a lab. The substance has been described as a 'brown goo' and is considered dangerous.
"Ground fallout [from the chemtrails] analyzed in the United States contained carcinogens and bacteria. Coincidentally in the past decade, most jet fuel was re-engineered to reduce fire hazards by adding a long-banned pesticide, which was reportedly also found in gel samples from chemtrails. Also found were toxic micro-fibers, much finer than asbestos," the Ottawa Citizen wrote. (A fervour over chemtrails, May 16, 2001)
I spoke with Ben McNenly from Espanola Ontario who spearheaded the efforts to stop chemtrail spraying in his small northern community. In the spring of 1999, according to Ben, military aircraft started flying in formation overhead and spraying heavily. "One evening I was photographing the trails when I felt a fine particulate pelting my face and hands. It stung my skin so badly that I had to run inside." Residents over a 50 mile radius started complaining to the provincial Ministry of Environment of severe headaches, chronic joint pain, dizziness, extreme fatigue, acute asthma attacks and feverless flu-like symptoms. They attributed their ailments to the months of spraying by photo identified US Air Force tanker planes. Lab tests on particulate and rainwater samples found quartz and extremely high levels of aluminum, seven times government safe levels and high enough, according to the lab, to kill fish. "I'm convinced people here have died as a result of this spraying, including a close friend," Ben recounted sadly. Another Espanola resident reported that mental confusion and short-term memory loss were so prevalent that forgetting where their cars were parked had become a standing joke in the small town.
On November 18, 1999, the people of Espanola petitioned Parliament. Addressing the Canadian government on their behalf, NDP Defence Critic Gordon Earle explained: "Over 500 residents of the Espanola area have signed a petition raising concern over possible government involvement in what appears to be aircraft emitting visible aerosols. They have found high traces of aluminum and quartz in particulate and rainwater samples." These concerns, combined with associated respiratory ailments, have led these Canadians to take action and seek clear answers from this government. The petitioners call upon Parliament to repeal any law that would permit the dispersal of military chaff or of any cloud-seeding substance whatsoever by domestic or foreign military aircraft without the informed consent of the citizens of Canada thus affected."
The Ministry of Defence eventually replied, denying their involvement in any spraying program over Espanola and added somewhat ambiguously "In addition, the Canadian Forces have confirmed that they are not aware of any visiting foreign military aircraft having requested diplomatic clearance to conduct aerial spraying or to drop chaff in the vicinity of Espanola."
How often is this occurring? The consensus is that since 1998, citizens throughout the world have documented spray patterns on a nearly daily basis, with an average of one "clear" day per week. It's suggested that we have all become accustomed to these changes in our skies, as they've been introduced bit by bit, and have presumed them to be normal.
Government agencies deny the existence of chemtrails but according to reports, intense spraying occurs in some areas of the U.S., Canada, Europe and England, including areas with no commercial flight paths overhead. Recently, Australia, Mexico, South Africa, Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Croatia have reported chemtrail spraying. Sightings have now been reported in fourteen NATO nations and investigative reporter William Thomas notes that Croatian chemtrails began the day after that country joined NATO.
In spite of government denials, some highly placed individuals have come forward to confirm the existence of chemtrails. US Congressman and Ohio Representative Dennis Kucinich introduced Bill HR2977 calling for the peaceful uses of space and a ban on "exotic weapons." Section 7 of the Space Preservation Act of 2001 sought to "proscribe any substance which could be weaponized, including chemtrails." Kucinich recently told the Columbus Alive newspaper (Jan. 24, 2002) that, despite official denials, as head of the Armed Services Oversight Committee, he is well acquainted with chemtrail projects. "The truth is there's a program in the Department of Defence, The U.S. Space Command's 2020 vision that calls for dominance of space, sea and air through multilayered weapons systems", Kucinich told reporter Bob Fitrakis.
What is the purpose behind the trails? This is where the varying reports differ. Secret government mass inoculation against possible bacterial and viral attack (Biowarfare) is one theory. There is evidence in the form of research that the US Department Of Defence has an interest in aerosol mass application of decontaminants. Maxygen, Inc., of Redwood City, Calif., has been awarded a $6,753,064 research and development cost contract to support the Defence Advanced Research Project Agency's Biological Warfare Defence Program. The contractor proposes to use bacillus spores as an aerosol-based delivery vehicle for medicinal purposes, specifically, vaccination and therapeutics. Another theory relates to government efforts to control global warming. Cited as evidence is a project designed to block and reduce the radiation from the sun to the earth with an aerosol emitted from aircraft. (Source: Edward Teller, Director Emeritus, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, The Planet Needs a Sunscreen, Wall Street Journal, October 17, 1997. Mr. Teller was the father of the H-bomb and an ardent advocate of the Reagan administration's Star Wars program.)
It's been reported that a scientist working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, who insisted on anonymity, claims that the two most common substances being sprayed into chemtrails are aluminum oxide and barium stearate. When you see planes flying back and forth marking parallel lines, X-patterns and grids in a clear sky, that's aluminum oxide, according to the scientist. The goal is to create an artificial sunscreen which reflects solar radiation back into space to alleviate global warming.
Computer simulations by Ken Caldeira at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory calculated that this method could stop warming over 85 per cent of the planet, despite an anticipated doubling of carbon in the atmosphere within the next 50 years. Lawrence Livermore priced the aerial spray program at US$1 billion dollars a year, a cheap fix to maintain massive petroleum profits in the face of Kyoto's internationally agreed carbon cutbacks. But Ken Caldeira, the climate expert who ran the computer model, has warned that the stratospheric spraying of sunlight-reflecting chemicals could destroy the ozone layer and pose human health risks.
A third theory points to the use of chemtrails in electromagnetic warfare. According to scientists, "In some cases, barium may be sprayed in a similar manner for the purpose of "high-tech 3-D radar imaging. The barium can be used as a 'wire' through which to shoot an electromagnetic beam through in order to take 3-D images of the ground far over the horizon." William Thomas, writing in the November-December 2001 issue of NEXUS New Times magazine, essentially confirmed this assessment. "The barium spread in exercises conducted out of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base acts as an electrolyte, enhancing conductivity of radar and radio waves," Thomas reported. "Wright-Pat has also long been deeply engaged in HAARP's electromagnetic warfare program." (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program in Alaska)
Another theory proposes a government program to modify and control weather patterns. There is evidence that throughout the Cold War, both the United States and the Soviet Union actively investigated the military use of weather modification. The U.S. Air Force admitted to CNN in July 2001 that it had broken up a storm over the Atlantic using products made by a company called Dyn-O-Mat. The company's website, www.dynomat.com lists "environmental absorbent products" such as Dyn-O-Drought and Dyn-O-Storm.
Other reports on Chemtrails present a variety of frightening scenarios. It all sounds too much like an X Files episode to be true, but I do wonder if there is something worrisome about the trails that I saw in the sky above Marlbank and have seen since in other areas. Is there some validity to all the reports and websites? Is there a secret spraying program? I honestly don't know what to make of it all. Much of what I found in the chemtrail websites may be the rantings of a lunatic fringe of Chicken Little conspiracy theorists, but clearly some evidence and first-hand reports do appear rational, compelling and very disturbing.
Update: I have noticed that the skies over the Kingston area during this summer of 2002 have been clearer; with far fewer suspicious looking jet trails. I recently spoke to Ben McNenly in Espanola and he reports that the spraying over his region of northern Ontario seems to have been scaled back, or at least the noticeable low altitude spraying. He added that, although some of the symptoms of joint pain and respiratory problems persist for some Espanola residents, most are feeling better.
