Possible ET Abduction And
Death Of PA Man Reported

Shape : Disk (NUFORC Note: We have contacted a local newspaper in Northumberland County, and to the police officer who served as investigator of the case. The newspaper confirms that the incident occurred, although the police officer stated that the decedant's remains had been returned to the family, contrary to the claims made by some regarding this case. The official report will be released in late September, according to the police officer, and we will attempt to obtain a copy of it. --PD)
I will be as brief as possible. A man named Todd Sees was abducted and murdered by aliens on Montour Ridge in Northumberland County near the town of Northumberland, Pa. This is a big sloppy coverup if there ever was one.
Todd Sees, the victim, lived at the foot of Montour Ridge, a mountain stretching over 20 miles east. Todd Sees went up the mountain to look for preseason deer. He told his wife that he would be home by noon. He rode his 4 wheeler up the powerline behind his home at a little after 5:00 in the morning. Noon came and no Todd. His wife and children became concerned. At 2:00 a search party was organized and local police, state police, paramedics, and 200 volunteers helped search for Todd Sees.
The 4 wheeler was found on the top of the mountain near a powerline. Tracking dogs could find nothing to go on around the 4 wheeler. The search went on for 2 days and over 6 miles of mountain were covered from top to bottom. Todd had vanished with out a trace. The 4 wheeler was - keep in mind - 2 miles from his home at the foot of the mountain. A pond a few hundred yards from the house was even searched by skin divers just so they overlooked nothing. Dogs were over the whole area constantly no results. No trace.
Then, in the evening of the 2nd day, something white was spotted in a large brushy area 25 feet from the pond. Police and rescue workers spent 20 minutes cutting and hacking brush and small trees so they could reach what looked like a body. It was Todd Sees. He was wearing his underwear. He was emaciated - not bloated. He was white. He had an expression of horror on his face. When he went up the mountain he was fully-dressed, boots, camo vest, hat, socks, pants.
The FBI showed up with in 30 minutes (of Todd's discovery -ed). They took charge. They would not let his wife look at her dead husband no matter how much she tried. The FBI asked questions around the area...neighbors, mostly farmers.
3 farmers on one farm said they saw a large round bright object just above thje powerlines at the time of the disappearance. It was silent, it did not move for about 10 to 15 minutes. It suddenly went up...and suddenly stopped. A light shined down and something was pulled up into the light.
It then went straight up, hesitated again, then went west over the Susquehanna River and out of sight.
A police friend of mine said after 2 autopsies, nothing was found. A toxicology test revealed nothing. No visible cuts or bruises anywhere except from the brush. Now the body is at Allentown, from there it is going to Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa. The wife was told she cannot have the body for 6 to 8 weeks. A boot was found a mile from the 4 wheeler a few days ago at the top of a tree. It was his. I notice military copters have been scouring the mountain ever since at least once a day. If you need additional info for verification on anything contact me. ((name deleted)) http://www.nuforc.org/webreports/S24698.html

A few seconds later and it started shuddering, then went west very fast stopped briefly, then went straight up and out of sight.2 days later a naked body except for his underware was found, the man found rode up the powerline looking for deer signs at around 5:00,his 4 wheeler was 2 miles from where his body was found in thick brush.his clothes were never found. Blood hounds never got aq scent past the 4 wheeler. The papers are not telling the whole story, they are not mentioning he was naked except for his underware.A police officer said they were told to keep a lid on this. The f.B.I. we were told by a rescue worker was questioning people in the general area, thyey were told not to tell people anything. The body was taken for an autopsy ,no cause of death could be found. Now thje Govt. has the body ,and told the wife they will need it for 6 to 8 weeks before they can return it.A police officer told told my friend they are going to say he died of a snake bite, even though snake bite was already ruled out by toxicology tests. UFO Murder Case Likely Hoax
06-Oct-2002

On September 13, Uknowncountry.com reported a case of a possible murder by UFO, as recorded by the National UFO Reporting Center. Dreamland science reporter Linda Moulton Howe began an immediate investigation, and two Unknowncountry readers from the local area offered their services as correspondents for us.
The original story reported that two farmers had observed a UFO lifting a man in a beam of light, and that a local resident had later been found mysteriously dead in an inaccessible area. It was also reported that the FBI had taken control of the body, and that the UFO sightings had been reported in the local paper and on area radio and television stations.

On October 3, Point Township police chief Gary Steffen announced that 39 year old Todd Sees, who was found dead on August 6 after a two day search, died from a cocaine overdose. The death has been listed as accidental.

Local authorities and the bereaved widow were besieged with phone calls from would-be investigators and curiosity seekers, to the point that Chief Steffen threatened to arrest people for harassment.

Unknowncountry.com correspondents were under instructions not to disturb family members in any way.

The reality behind all of this is as follows:

No story about UFO activity ever appeared in any local paper. The FBI was apparently never involved in the case. Police officials state that the only calls about UFO activity in the area came after the story appeared on the internet. No UFO witnesses can be found in the area by either of Unknowncountry s private correspondents, both of whom are local residents and familiar with the community. Our correspondents are not aware of each other s identity, but both are giving us essentially the same report.

Opinion: At this point, we can say with reasonable assurance that this was either a hoax or is being skillfully covered up. The overwhelming probability is that it is a hoax and an exceptionally cruel, strange and damaging one.

A large question remains about who contrived it and why, and this question must be asked of the National UFO Reporting Center, which received the original e-mail containing the story, and thus has the only (slim) chance of identifying the perpetrators. NUFORC has stated that it does not have the resources to follow up every e-mail it receives, however it would seem important to the future of online UFO reporting that extraordinary stories like this be first carefully investigated before they are published. To its credit, NUFORC made an effort to confirm the claims before publishing its report, but it failed to seek independent corroboration of the core of its story, that direct witnesses had observed the abduction of a man by a UFO. In the end, these witnesses could not be found. NUFORC should have had their observations confirmed and their names on file before publishing its story.

I'm posting the two latest stories about the unusual UFO related death of the one gentleman.
In this first story there is mention that the family of the deceased was told not to view the body because of the condition it was in. Seems peculiar if indeed he was supposed to have died from a cocaine overdose. In the second story there is mention of this story being discussed on the Jeff Rense show tonight. In my opinion some of the details make this a rather interesting story to follow.

Cocaine Blamed In Norry Death
By the Press Enterprise staff
10-5-2
NORTHUMBERLAND -- A Northumberland man whose body was found in the woods here in August died because of cocaine, police said in a release Friday.
While Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley would not qualify the death as an overdose, the press release listed Todd Sees' cause of death as "cocaine toxicity."
Police said the manner of death is accidental.
Kelley said he could not release the amount of cocaine in Sees' blood because his death was still under investigation.
Point Township police could not be contacted Friday for further comment about what they were investigating.
The family of Sees, 39, reported him missing on Aug. 4. Searchers found his body in the evening of the next day.
In the past month, while police were waiting for the results of toxicology tests, a group of UFO Web sites published anonymous reports that a UFO may have been involved in the death. Officials called the reports "ridiculous."
Kelley, along with Point Township Police Chief Gary Steffen and Sgt. Seth Cotner, met with the Sees family Thursday night to inform them of the toxicology results, police said.

___
NORTHUMBERLAND, Pa. -- The unexplained death of a man near here has become fodder for UFO enthusiasts, who have made it into a tale of alien attack and spread it around the world via the Internet.
The bizarre interest in the death of Todd Sees has aggravated investigators trying to determine the cause of his death, who also worry the tales will deepen the anguish the Sees family is feeling.
Sees, 39, a Little League coach and father of two, was found dead in the woods near here in August.
The anonymous Internet postings blame his death on a UFO.
Officials dismiss the stories as ridiculous. But they don't yet know how or why he died, and they have no way of preventing story-tellers from filling that vacuum with speculation.
Searchers found the body of Sees about 150 yards from his Northumberland home along Route 147 in a heavily wooded area Aug. 5.
He had taken out his all-terrain vehicle the day before, planning to track deer. After a 30-hour search by more than 250 people, his family found his body.
An autopsy the next day failed to establish a cause of death, said Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley.
A toxicology report, which could detect the presence of drugs, poisons or other substances at the microscopic level, is expected by mid-October, he said.
But even before August was over, some Web sites began featuring anonymous tales that Sees had died in an encounter with extraterrestrials.
Here's what they say:
A farmer who did not give his name said he saw a round disk over Montour Ridge. It moved quickly, stopped and shot a light to the ground. The farmer then saw a man being pulled up the light head first into the bottom of the craft.
Seconds later, the disk flew away.
When searchers found the man's body, some of these anonymous reports say, it was partially clothed and had a look of horror on its face.
Some claim federal agents soon showed up to take over the investigation and didn't let the family see Sees' emaciated body.
'Ridiculous'
"They're so ridiculous and far-fetched," said the investigating officer, Sgt. Seth Cotner of the Point Township Police.
Cotner said he's seen a number of the Internet stories, and his department has taken "several" calls from UFO organizations.
None of the reports he has read was accurate, Cotner said. No police report on Sees' death has yet been issued.
Cotner said police "all certainly hope" the toxicology report will clear up the mystery of Sees' death.
There are no federal agencies involved in the investigation, he added.
Linda Vizi, a spokeswoman for the FBI, said she had not heard of the case. "But I know that Congress does not mandate us to investigate UFOs," Vizi said.
'Very traumatic'
Kelley, the coroner, said he saw the body, and the Internet reports he had read were inaccurate.
He said he couldn't go into the details, since the case is still under investigation.
The family had been asked not to open the casket when they received Sees' remains, he said.
"Letting them see it would have been very traumatic for them," Kelley said.
Todd Sees' family declined comment through relative Traci Sees.
The naked eye examination of the body during the autopsy turned up no evidence of trauma, heart attack or any other obvious cause of death, Kelley said.
"We're still following every possible avenue," he said, including the possibility of a snakebite or bee sting. But there was no visible sign of either of those, he said.
UFO groups have contacted Kelley looking for information. But since the investigation is still under way, he said he cannot get into details.
"Everyone's entitled to their own beliefs, I guess," Kelley said about the groups. "I just hope that nothing the family sees adds to what they're already going through."
'I want the facts out'
To Peter Davenport, it's not about belief, it's about facts. Davenport is director of the National UFO Reporting Center, the Web site on which the first Sees reports appeared.
"I want the facts out," Davenport said.
He was not comfortable saying there was UFO involvement in Todd Sees' death. More facts must be gathered, he said.
Davenport said he became interested in the case when he received the first report of a UFO sighting Aug. 18, before he knew Sees had died.
He said in that anonymous report someone stated that a farmer and three fishermen had seen a flying disk.
It wasn't until the end of the month, when another person said they had seen a person drawn up into the disk, that Davenport said he got interested.
He said he spoke briefly with Kelley and Point Township police, but they stopped returning his calls.
Davenport's site, at www.nuforc.org/index.html, posts five to 25 reports of UFO sightings per day, he said.
Those that make it to the site are only those that "warrant attention," he said.
Davenport said he screens out those that are obvious hoaxes.

Peter Davenport Special Report
Mystery Death Tonight
From Peter Davenport
director@ufocenter.com
10-8-2

EXCLUSIVE - Peter Davenport will present the latest data on this truly very strange case which has possible UFO connections. Peter will also introduce a key witness who knows some of the parties directly involved in the event and the subsequent investigation.
Tonight, with Jeff, Tuesday, beginning at 7pm Pacific time.
Note - The following update and response was posted by Mr. Davenport to the 'Current Encounters' list:
I was directed by several sources today to the statement on Whitley Strieber's site regarding the Northumberland, Pennsylvania, case. Noting several inaccuracies in the posted statement, I telephoned Whitley and apprised him of what I felt were either errors, or statements of partial fact.
Predicated on our conversation, Whitley offered to prepare a second, replacement statement, to correct some of the errors embodied in the first.
Whitley was kind enough to send me a copy of the replacement statement for my inspection. In reading the second statement, I noted factual errors in it, as well, and Whitley said he would work on it further.
I do not know the status of the second statement may be at this writing, but I would direct interested parties to Whitley's website.
The Northumberland, PA, case appears to NUFORC to be rather complex, and it becomes more and more complex as individuals, most of whom have done little primary investigation into the case, write "summaries" of what the "real" story there is. The recent statement on October 3rd, 2002, by the Point Township, PA, police department to the effect that the decedent had perished from an overdose of cocaine may, or may not, explain the cause of Mr. Sees' death. However, at first blush, that explanation does not appear to satisfy all aspects of the case that are known to us. NUFORC will wait to see any written report, e.g. the police report, the death certificate, or a coroner's report, etc., before we issue a final statement about the case.
For details about the case, we would direct interested parties to the preliminary statement of fact on the NUFORC website. We probably will update that statement, if we are able to obtain more evidence.
A party from Northumberland, PA, who knows some of the parties involved in the event and in the subsequent investigation, will appear on the Jeff Rense Radio Program, together with Peter Davenport, at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, October 08, 2002. Details for listening are available at . If the program is not broadcast live, for any reason, it will be available approximately 3 hours later in the radio program archives on that site.
Regards,
Peter Davenport

Dear list: Has anyone seen this article yet? The address given below will take you to more of the story. Donnie
Donnie;
I noticed that the website you reference posted an update as per a phone call from Peter Davenport, and also made reference to several of the Pennyslvania reports. I did follow up on a few of those reports, and I believe you may have also tried to track down and verify the Sharon, PA claim with no luck of authenticating either the location, the person or the claim.
But in their original report, Unknown Country.com seemed particularly blunt with their criticism of the announcing and reporting process regarding the unverified UFO claim involved with Sees death. We'll wait to hear more from Peter on this one, but as a quick blurb here this whole affair goes to show the general pitfalls of accepting and/or receiving anonymous claims. Its extremely unfortunate the hardship of a family and a man's death is a component of this situation.
Perhaps as an investigative measure, witness confidentiality should always be respected but anonymity should be rejected with respect to UFO claimants. I know that from time to time N.U.F.O.R.C. has received an anonymous claims that do pan out to be true (one case being the Maysville, Kentucky anonymous UFO report from Feb., 2002 that was independently confirmed after contact with a security guard at a local power plant), but sometimes I wonder if the damage from receiving anonymous grub is greater than the benefits.
I do not doubt, and know from experience, that there may be some value in consideration of an anonymous claim, but if all the UFO groups and independent investigators would implement a policing policy of rejecting any and all anonymous reports, or at least authenticating anonymous matters prior to undertaking public announcement, many ugly issues could be potentially avoided.
I did receive some input from a few folks and even questions regarding this case, and there were a few who suggested that I investigate the story. I am glad now that I did not begin any such process (perhaps normally I would have made a call or two but having been busy the past few weeks with the conference I was unable to even think about it). But suddenly we hear that investigative folk have come out of the woodwork here. It's amazing how few people actually contribute to discussion or examination of things, but for select instances an investigative 'mob' mentality will surface. Still, I don't know what the Sheriff's department could really charge these people with, and excluding the family, the department officially has to answer any public inquiry.
Again, UFOlogical anonymity is totally uncool, but as always, I'll disclaim my certainty in the above diatribe by saying "I could be wrong" but I'll wait to hear if there might be any discussion on the matter, and be on the lookout for any comments from Peter...
thanks, Kenny Young
