I sure hope we get to see you! Here's the write up and schedule.

I'm Living In Iraq

Since its initial episode in 1998, MTV's award-winning True Life documentary series has told remarkable real-life stories of young people and the unusual subcultures they inhabit. Whether documenting the lives of plastic surgery enthusiasts, illegal streetracers, or competitive cheerleaders--the True Lifeseries tells its stories solely from the varied voices and points-of-view of its characters--putting the series in the unique position of reflecting the state of youth culture at any given moment.

Ha! I’d have recognized you anywhere! I had you pegged with that first sentence out of your mouth. You did a great job. And no, you didn’t look fat at all. Considering where you are and what you’re going through, I’m glad to see you have a mischievous twinkle in your eyes! Good work soldier!

I liked how MTV interviewed Iraqi civilians and showed life in the streets. Parts of the show pulled at my heart strings! That was excellent reporting and the kind of thing I’d like to see on TV more often. Why on earth doesn't mainstream do stuff like this? Maybe this will given other stations some ideas!

And Mrs. Bhang, I’m not flirting with your honey, just appreciating his efforts - hee, hee!

Ha ha! I'll be signing autographs all week in down town Baghdad.

I must say it's a little frustrating not being able to be at home for my national tv debut. I'd like to see my friends and family's reactions... it's not every day an average joe gets to be broadcast coast to coast all week!
I'm glad it aired even though I have not seen it yet! I was a little worried bacause I'd had not heard from David in a long while. Now I turn my attention to Mike Moore's next documentary...

Bhang.... I saw the special on MTV today... missed the first showing on the 26th... but thanks to Jersey's list of show times I made a point to catch the second showing.

All of you guys did an excellent job giving those interviews... two thumbs up! The segment with the nurse was a tear jerker.. looks like she's more than ready to come home, you can see she's under a lot of stress.

So you plan to go to college after you get out... that's cool... are you going to study to be a writer or journalist?

I see you've been through some wicked experiences while serving your country ... there's a lot of truth to the statement that "war is hell"... be careful out there...

There was one segment in the documentary where you and another soldier were showing your purple hearts... it didn't appear that either of you were too enthusiatic about your medals... course I could be wrong..

The guys doing the filming did a good job showing what life is like for the Iraqi people there right now...
The other day while listening to Rense on the radio, another independent reporter was being interviewed about conditions for the people in the city of Baghdad. He mentioned that the infastructure... water and sewer services were really bad now... and that some of the damage from the bombings isn't being cleaned up very fast.. Has this been your experience as well?
They mentioned one of the reasons things aren't being worked on is due to the situation still being insecure.

I noticed that the one Sergeant they interviewed was watching a video with his lap top computer... I thought that was cool. Do you also have a lap top? Well... you take care and watch your back. Stay safe. BTW.. the uniform didn't make you look fat or old..

That is exactly the situation. Recent attacks around here have been car bombs intended for U.S. personel but have actually killed many, many Iraqi's instead. There was a car bomb that ripped through part of our compund about three weeks ago that killed 42 Iraqi's and no soilders. It was an awful experience, totally graphic and very, very sad. It's one thing to kill a soilder who is meant for warfare, but to kill innocents is unjustafiable.
So you might understand that it is not safe for anyone funded by the U.S. to begin public works. Yet at the same time we have really done a lot to help. We got 6 schools up and running in our sector since we have been here and help build up some housing for the locals. We do what we can but our main objective is security - basically police.

NO. That's one medal most people don't want to earn. If you get one of those it means you have escaped from death's grip.

No I do not have a laptop out here. I think a laptop is a waste of my money... I want a screaming machine and I don't do money making business out here.

Bhang -- was very interested to read your comments here after seeing the documentary piece. Documentaries of this kind are usually interesting, and revealing, especially if the subjects of the documentor are willing to be open and candid. I think you all did a pretty good job of being candid and circumspect at the same time, but mainly I thought you all showed considerable grace and courage in an overall tough and frustrating situation. As both an American and a human being living on the planet, I thank you.

I was quite curious about one thing: the producer, with whom you have corresponded, and who spent time with you, referred to the people killing US troops and Iraqis over there as "the resistance". How do you feel about that characterization? Do you think there is a better way to describe those people, and, if so, what would you say?

Cheers.

"the resistance"

I can agree with this view. I mean let's look at the facts -

Bush said weapons of mass destruction. There are none as of yet, a whole year+ later.

Saddam as evil as he was, was minding his own business and was no REAL threat to the U.S.

Slice it how you like but I must agree with others when they say this is a hostile takeover which has turned into a humanitarian aid / security mission.

The program went well from what I understand. AFN even picked it up and it went world wide! (American Forces Network) Yet still I have not seen it. Nor will I enjoy being recognized as the guy on TV... just another sacrafice we in the military make. Oh well. It was still fun and I'm glad everyone enjoyed. I thank you all for your comments and understanding.

Much love to you all.

May Justice live and Freedom reign.
God Bless America and the rest of the world.
