Unauthorised report...

Location:
Cambridge city, england.
Date:
02 june 2005
Time:
03:05 onwards
Weather conditions:
Calm and dry.
Description:
Thick hazy blue gas/particulate trail (as if from an aircraft) that was only a few hundred yards in length and low in the air, the behavior of the emission was very peculiar, it dissapated extremely slowly and seemed to 'spread' like an oil in water.
I have never observed anything like it before, very odd indeed.
No aircraft noticed before during or after observation.
My apologies for posting this inappropiately but it is best that I record this observation at least somewhere.
This kinda post is probably common for you guys but next time il get a photo, I have my digital in my bedside cabinet ready.

Interesting. According to Met reports it was overcast with a force 3 west/southwesterly breeze at the time, following the passage of a warm front earlier in the night. Temperature was 14c (57f)
It actually sounds just like the pall of smoke you get from a firework display. But not at that time of night! Could it have been from a house fire elsewhere in the city? _________________ Andy

To Essan
The 'texture' of the vapour was not smoke like, it was a rich blue with tendrials flowing away completely unlike how smoke behaves, besides It was low in the sky, but not that low, well haha now I get it its great seeing something but without visible evidence to confirm its pretty useless.
Also the weather was Fine and calm not Overcast or breezy at that time.
Ive got the camera to hand now, so next time you can decide for yourself!
Iam not an expert on atmospheric phenomena but what I saw Iam around 99% certain was not a 'smoke' it was too high too blue too much like an aircraft jetstream yet it flowed like oil as it dissapated in around 30 minutes! _________________ Una voce |
