On Monday, the day before the election, my 9 yr. old son and I were having a discussion about the process of voting. Little did I know then how forboding his questions were. My husband and I voted with absentee ballots, due to the voting site being moved to 25 miles away. My son was distrustful of the process of counting the votes, and the potential of those receiving them not processing them correctly. He wondered if it would be done the same way all across the country with impartiality, and suggested that it would be hard to know if all votes were counted, that were mailed in. My assurances have now been put to question. I wonder what will change, to provide consistencey in future elections..... |

I don't know if I could handle having to explain any of this to a child. I'm not handling it well myself, especially when the first thing I hear on the news this morning of some ballots "accidentally" thrown in the trash. Am I the only one feeling devastated and betrayed AND sad? One of the things, our right to vote, that has meant so much to us as free citizens has been a sham.

Don't you worry Cy!
I predicted that Bush would win this race, and I've correctly predicted every election since I first became aware of elections during Reagan vs. Carter. So if my intuition holds out, no worries! |

Hi,
This election thing is sickening, but maybe it is for the good of the country in the long run. Most people can see for themselves that something is really wrong with the system. I don't think it's possible for a US presidential election to be this close without there being lots of tampering somewhere along the line? I wonder how many years it's been this way?
I would rather see Bush win too. The media has really shown it left-leaning colors. It makes you wonder how much the media polling has affected the last 2 elections in favor of the Clinton/Gore administrations and their financial backing of (still) Red China. It's no wonder they're dragging this out. These are some of the same people who gave us Waco, the OK City bombing coverup and some of those other memorable events of the past 8 years that the mainstream media and the Republicans seem to have completely
forgotten. Why hasn't any of that been brought up during this campaign? It's funny to hear Gore talk about preserving Constitutional rights now after their 8 year campaign to destroy the 2nd Ammendment.
If Bush doesn't do something about campaign finance reform, then he'll be almost as bad as they are. At least he seems to take contributions from AMERICAN special interest groups! |
