Democrats may have conquered both houses of Congress, and so have Jewish politicians. Number of Jewish senators rises from 11 t o13 and number of Jewish representatives jumps to 30 thanks to six new faces creating all-time high of Jewish politicians in Congress. The picture isn't complete yet, but it seems that the Democrats executed a double takeover in the mid-term elections and have taken control not only in the House of Representatives, but also in the Senate. It also turns out that the number of Jews in the two houses of Congress has hit an all-time high.
An accurate count shows that the number of Jewish senators has risen from 11 to 13, with the addition of two former representatives Benjamin Cardin (Maryland-D) and Bernard Sanders (Vermont-I) who were successfully elected to the Senate.
Sander's and Cardin's departure from the House didn't lower the number of Jews there – on the contrary. The number of Jewish representatives elected to the House of Representatives also grew.
They now number 30 thanks to six new faces: Gabrielle Giffords (Arizona), Ronald Klein (Florida), John Yarmuth (Kentucky), Paul Hodes (New Hampshire), Stephen Cohen (Tennessee), and Steve Kagen (Wisconsin). They are all Democrats.
'Time for US to see a moderate Muslim voice'
At the same time, a new precedent was set with the election of the first Muslim to Capitol Hill. Keith Ellison (Minnesota) was elected to the House of Representatives on the Democratic ticket. Ellison's election is also unprecedented in that he is the first African American to be elected to Congress from Minnesota.
During his campaign tour, Ellison, 43, decidedly didn't refer to either of these issues – the color of his skin, or the religion that he adopted at the age of 20.
He campaigned mainly on social and economic issues for advancing the middle class, and upgrading education. He was emphatic about not running as "the Muslim candidate," but as the American who wants to improve the conditions in his country.
However, he said that he knows that his election will send a clear message to the American public and to the legislators on Capitol Hill.
“I think it’s time for the United States to see a moderate Muslim voice, to see a face of Islam that is just like everybody else’s face,” Ellison said. “Perhaps it would be good for somebody who is Muslim to be in Congress, so that Muslims would feel like they are part of the body politic and that other Americans would know that we’re here to make a contribution to this country.”

WASHINGTON - American Jews expressed flagrant support for Democratic candidates for Congress, contributing to a turnaround in the House of Representatives. According to a CNN sampling of voters, 87 percent of Jewish voters voted Democrat.
This was the highest percentage of support for Democrats since the Republicans took over Congress in 1994.
The Republican Party tried to frighten Jewish voters during the election campaign, primarily with their ads in Jewish newspapers, but no one was buying.
In this election, Jews voted for candidates they thought would be good for Israel, but not necessarily the ones who would be the best for Israel, said Steve Rabinowitz, an elections expert who served in the White House during the Clinton era.
Jews didn't vote for anti-Israeli candidates, but also didn't ignore other issues important to them: the war in Iraq, the economy, immigration, the environment and abortion, he explained.
One of the Democrats' biggest assets was Rahm Emanuel, the Chicago-born son of former Israelis, who chaired the Democratic Congressional Campaign.
Emanuel, who served as a Clinton political advisor in Washington, endorsed conservative candidates for conservative states such as Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky and, thus, succeeded in achieving a political upset in traditionally Republican areas.
Additionally, the number of Jews in Congress is expected to increase: Bernie Sanders (Independent) from Vermont and Ben Cardin (Democrat) from Maryland will raise the number of Jewish Senators from 11 to 13 out of 100 - in a nation where Jews comprise only 5 million of the 300 million person population.
There are some 25 Jewish representatives in the House of Representatives, several of whom are expected to chair important House committees in the future. |

Okay so many Americans and other people say Jews rule the world but guess what? They are not really Jews, just as we have Bush claiming to be a Christian saying God told him to invade Iraq and attack US made al qaeda. Bush is no Chritian, his membership at bohemian grove proves that.
The Zionists create wars like WW2 so they can then say oooh we are being persecuted lets KILL FREE SPEECH AND THE TRUTH WHILE WE ARE AT IT>
They are nothing more than Nazi scum!

Quite right; however, the evangelical Christians played a large role in getting the Bush cabal into power, just as many Jews play their role in keeping the Zionists in power in Israel. Members of Congress will attest to the tens of thousands of letters they receive from Jewish Americans whenever Israel's carte blanche status is threatened in any way. Many Jews believe that the Jews run Israel; they don't, the Zionist run Israel, as they do the U.S. and Britain. The citizens of these countries are just pawns in their game.
Today I saw the bumper sticker: IF YOU ENJOY YOUR FREEDOMS, THANK A VET. Personally, I do not believe that what is going on in Iraq or Afghanistan has anything to do with American freedoms (perhaps, quite the opposite), but that mindset certainly plays a role in keeping that belief system alive. |
