Red Mold

Just went to take a shower, and I was absolutely disgusted.
As I've previously stated, I'm an extreme neat-freak. I clean my bathroom at least twice a week, it's simply spotless. What I just witnessed was nearly on par with the Amityville Horror.
My shower faucet looks like it has a bloody-nose. There is some kind of red, slime mold invading my pipes. Could this be the reason for all my health issues of late? Has anyone here experienced this?

I can't believe I've been drinking out of these pipes, who exactly regulates water-quality anyways?

There is no saving it, I need to replace the downstairs toilet, I looks like hell. The pipes in town got hot enough to promote the groth of this stuff and it's been a 3 month invasion of homes here.
