Hey, I'd just like to explore some aspects of what it means to be human. Contribute if you can.
......................................................................................................

Okay, we are basically, as individuals, comprised of four. the Heart, the soul, the Body and the Mind.

The mind is simply an advanced computer system as far as I'm concerned. Not that different from the rest of the animal world, except for its complexity. So I won't go into that.

The soul, well, i guess you have to be religious to believe that we possess an indefinable something that lasts forever. But they say, when we die, we lose 21 grams. Funny thing, when sleep, we lose the same 21 grams. How to explain that? I can only do that from my own perspective;

"It is God that takes the souls at death: and those that die not (He takes) during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death He keeps back (from returning to life) but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed. Verily in this are Signs for those who reflect". Q39:42

So, in other words, our souls are taken when we sleep.

The body, well that is an impulsive creature. When its hungry, it wants to be fed. When its sleepy, it want to sleep and so on. Same thing with addictions such as nicotine, drugs, alcohol. It starts out as foolishness, but then the body demands it and we feed it.

But, it is the heart that interests me.

(will continue later)

The seven stages of the heart/self/being according to middle eastern philosophy.

1) Ammara (Nafs-e-Ammara / Commanding Soul): This Nafs commands us to commit sin. It is lower than animals because they behave according to the demands of nature. When a lion or tiger devours another animal it is because it needs food. And once an animal is full it does not pursue another animal, while a man is capable of swallowing the whole world and still be hungry. Man can kill thousands and still long for more blood. There are lots of factual accounts which are indicative of the existence of Ammara, one of whom was the late Shah of Iran; the more he killed the thirstier he became and the more he stole the greedier he got. Saadi, the famous Iranian man-of-letters recounts the story of Mahmoud Shah Ghanzanavi who was at the threshold of dying but he would not die. Eventually he commanded that his royal jewels be mounted on mule backs so the caravan could pass in front of his eyes. Once this was done, he died comfortably. These are a few samples of men who became so degraded that they sank lower than any animal. Man tramples upon his nature and behaves relative to the demands of his desires and whims for which there is no limit. In short, Ammara is lowest of all the Nafs and Dr. Shariati has compared it to mud.

2) Lawwama (Nafs-e-Lawwama / self-accusing soul): This word is derived from 'Lom' which means to 'reproach.' At this stage Nafs reaches a point that if it commits a sin its conscience wakes up and criticizes the doer. This is the first indication that man's Nafs is wakening up and perhaps most men in the world are at this stage. When common men commit a sin they awaken and become sorry and sad. It is this self critics that forces some criminals to give themselves up (or it allows the psychologist to find them). Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. (Holy Qur'an 75:2)

3) Agheleh: At this stage Nafs posses the power of thinking and reflection and so, it bases its actions upon logic and thinking and does not fall prey to extremes of sentiments, rage, whims, and fleeting desires; it calculates. Not too many people reach a stage where they can ponder over the consequences of their own behavior before acting.

4) Malhama (Nafs-e-Malhama / Inspiring soul): Malhama is derived from Elham (inspiration). The person who reaches this stage receives inspiration from the Lord. Namely, he is so virtuous and devout that he has developed the aptitude to accept the Lord's inspiration. God's light shines upon all, but this particular Insan at this stage is capable of absorbing the Divine's light and comprehends it.

There are beautiful definitions for Elham and Wahy (inspiration) which must be clarified at this point. Elham is from low to high, while Wahy is from high to low. Specifically, in Wahy God establishes communication with man, while in Elham Insan establishes communication with God. Of course, Elham depends upon the extent to which a personality has evolved while Wahy is not subject to such rule; it is God's command that descends to man. And since Wahy is from the Lord, it is absolute and perfect and there is no doubt in it because He wants man to receive the message in it entirely. However, this is not true about Elham which is always incomplete since it depends each man's aptitude and personality. The stronger and more perfect man is, the more perfect will be his Elham. But since men are not perfect, often times Elham appears as lightning in the sky in a dark night, so quick that man gets a chance to perceive the truths very briefly.

5) Mutmainnah (Nafs-al-Mutmainnah / satisfied soul): At this stage Nafs reaches the stage of certainty; it will neither collapse nor will it retrogress. It is sure of its evolutionary cycle and its meeting with the Lord. It can commit a fault or sin but it is so ahead that it is certain it will never backslide.

6) Raziyah: This is derived from satisfaction. In its evolutionary cycle Nafs reaches a degree that becomes satisfied with its own position.

7) Marziyah: At this stage not only Nafs is satisfied with itself but also the Lord almighty is satisfied with it too. Now Nafs is a lover of the Divine.

"What you sacrifice for God is nothing but an outer manifestation of inner clarity and truthfulness."

So basically we are meant to purify our hearts and fight against our lusts/desires. Which is basically the same teaching as that of Buddhism and other religions.

"The strong one is not the one who overcomes people, the strong one is he who overcomes his nafs [ego]."

"There are two impulses in the soul, one from an angel which calls towards good and confirms truth; whoever finds this let him know it is from God and praise Him. Another impulse comes from the enemy which leads to doubt and denies truth and forbids good; whoever finds this, let him seek refuge in God from the accursed devil." Then he recited the verse: "The devil shows you fear of poverty and enjoins evil upon you" (2:268) [Tirmidhi: hasan; Nisa'i; `Iraqi did not weaken it].

Sufyan al-Thawri said: "I never dealt with anything stronger against me than my own ego; it was one time with me, and one time against me"... Yahya ibn Mu`adh al-Razi said: "Fight against your ego with the four swords of training: eat little, sleep little, speak little, and be patient when people harm you... Then the ego will walk the paths of obedience, like a fleeing horseman in the field of battle."

This is a good thread!

I like the buddshist concept as fas as classification is concerned, They start the mind through the five senses.

But as far as bodies are concerned the following is accepted norm among innitiates of all ancient wisdoms. There are seven, it would be useless to talk about anything above the astral at this point until the person has managed to realize some type of astral travel or lucid dream.

the first three bodies that are of most interest under my opinion are the

1. Physical

2, Etheric

3. Astral

The etheric is the weigt loss at the time of death because the etheric is a vital substance created by the physical body.

the astral body is too high above the vibrational fiels that any isntrument on earth can detect.

It is known that many E.T´s use the etheric plane to play hide and seek (good and bad, the universe is much larger than most people realize).

The astral realm is the world were desires and effects did not have application on earth.

It´s not a real world in the sense we say "real". but it is where your dreams are played out, most dreams are fantasies of the mind but some are not dreams they are astral travel.

The problem here is trying to decipher the two is the key to progress in the higher fields of knowledge.

Infinite knowledge based on cosmic laws anyone can prove to themselves by their own exercise and will.

The mind is an antenna for the soul,

The soul is the real you but if you don´t realize that you can not harness the universe.

The soul is connected to the universe but our materialist personality keeps us in limbo, not here not there.

The process to get back is the same path that got us where we are but in reverse.

Internal dialogue drains the mind and the energy neccessary to create lucidity in the sleep state is difficulted, there are other habits but that one is a major.

Your dreams once you study them will tell things about your true nature and how you can make it grow to a higher vibrationl frequency which will open new areas of the immediate universe, here, now.

When a person passes away his etheric lingers as a ghost for a short period, days.
at that point the astral body seperates completley and begins its journey up the seven subplanes of the astral, The first three are not visited by the majority of the people, the people who go there are the real demented figures of history, you know many of them.it´s dark with no physical sensation but you´re there somehow, someway.

The fourth is similar to life as we knew it but no physicial sensation and the personality (we take our virtues and our folly) what´s left begins the journey up to the hgiher astral realms,

each one gets better as you move up, if you´re lucky you might get a
glimpse of them in your astral travel.

In the astral your desires are in front of you as if your personality is being played by all the concepetual imagery in a play (beings included).

Imagine a film with everything in it is saying something about your personality, that´s how the astral works.

Look at your dreams and you´ll see what I mean.

Dreams are understood through symbols, trees, water, elements.

Danke mr.Jones. Keep it going.
.............

Analogy;

“Imagine there is a person who is climbing a mountain. Due to having walked a very long distance he is very tired. Just prior to reaching the summit he notices that the last part of the climb is very strenuous.

Despite this portion of the climb being very difficult, he finds that there is something pushing him on. And it is through this extra support that he continues his climb and slowly but surely reaches the peak.

On the other hand there is another climber in exactly the same situation. He is also tired but despite exerting all his efforts he finds that there something constantly holding him back.

Thus this climber fails to achieve his objective of reaching the mountain’s summit.

The first climber is like that person who has control over his desires. Because he has nurtured his ego the ego helps him in his deeds. The second climber is like that person whose ego is out of control.

The ego constantly overpowers him to such an extent that even if he wants to carry out good deeds, his ego won’t let him.”

The ego is the result of our mind being entrained through a lifetime series of education (starting from childhood) of pure subjective analysis.

In other words we base !00% of our analytical processing on the information we gather from the physical senses (buddhism does a great job here with the classification of the senses and how they operate).

By interpreting all of our mental data throguh this process we leave out the subtle factors of the universe.

The sublime aspects of nature and the universe have their own rythm and it is slow, peaceful.

A person by being artificially excited through a materialist society and culture drains himself of energy.

All of our energy is used to put up, withstand the onslaught of the materialist ambient, hence we have none leftover for the awakening of higher consciousness.

The main ingredient in all is energy, it is the basic component to all phenomena.

Meditation helps the mind rest and the body store energy, but at the same time a person needs to be vigilant and not lose it through unecessary excitement or negative emotions.

Anger is a problem everyone has and it drains a person through no end.

The materialist mind ( a mind which focuses all its attention on materialist principles) is like a bottle with hundreds of egos (psychological aggregates are negative emotions, sensual habits, intelectual redundancies).

these agregates keep ther mind bottled up (asleep).

we think we are awake but we are not.

the fact that we dream (fantasize) when we are asleep is the basic proof to that.

a person who has awakened consciousness is awake here and everywhere in the universe, now and at all times.

When a fully awakened person goes to bed his physical body is asleep but his mind is awake in the internal world (the astral realm).

When that person passes away, to him it is like going from one room to another.

That other room he has already familiriazed himself with it because in his life he lived in it fully awake.

Some of this may seem quite a leap of mental conception to many people, but as I mentioned earlier it can be confirmed thorugh your own analysis of dreams and through practice of astral travel.

It´s not that difficult but like anything else it takes time and patience.

I would say it is quite worth it, the rewards are very promising.

Everyone looks to the future, unfortunately passing away never comes into mind.

Noone ever prepares for it and thus ends up on the short hand of the stick (so to speak).

We are here to make the most of our life, nothing should be left unnocticed.

Great post RAZE
Being raised inside the christian religion this post surpasses by far ANYTHING that I have ever seen any christian ever put out. All shallow preaching, empty of substance compared to this NAFS post. To live those Nafs would in my opinion be living a life free from the thoughts, and mind control of the beast. To be truly human.
Thanks for the post RAZE

Read the following carefully and completely, you will get a clear picture of how the earth is being manipulated through the media.

Now of course we know that already. but there lies a deeper manipulation of thought and consciousness not even touched by even the wisest of investigators.

Mr.Jones, we live in a world of fast food and throw-aways, I'd really like to know more about the astral stuff, but I don't see how to prove or disprove it. Is there a way to experience it?

The reason I think its important to find other ways and paths to understanding the human psyche, is coz I totally disbelieve in modern psychology.

I think its inception could well be likened to that of marxism and then later communism. A method to control people.

I mean, just look at the ideas and motivations of the 'founder'. Nuts! i tell ya!

The best time to practice astral travel is in the morning at dawn. The body is rested and the enegy level is not depleted.

You drink a cup of water with some lime juice (just a bit) and go back to bed.

You remain on your bed comfortable.

You focus your mind on the intent of being aware of the slumbering process.

Eventually (about an hour or less) you will slip into slumber.

The trick is to be as much aware as possible of the process so that the line of awarenes is not broken.

With practice you will get into the astral with awareness of knowing it.

That is...... your body is asleep and you realize it as a fact, once on the other side you´re free to go wherever you want.

The astral is the realm of desire and emotion.

It´s where your desires and emotion take shape and form.

A few of many statements i liked ....
"Some people have truly learned how to shut their minds down. Apathy is enslavement."

" It is if we are a different species? (humans conciousness that is) "The deep polarization of awareness between us all."

"I would just like to grab one of these zombies walkin' down the street and say WAKE UP!"

"Nothings making any sense, What kind of maniacs would do this to their own people. This is totally insane."

"It's not genocide; it's zombiside"

"It is a collective hallucination" "How can anything else seem believable or even percievable?"(inside a hallucinational reality)
