Fluoride History PostWed May 28, 2003 11:19 am  Reply with quote

1930's Less known to the public is that fluoride also accumulates in bones. "The teeth are windows to what's happening in the bones," explained Paul Connett, Professor of Chemistry at St Lawrence University, New York, to these reporters. In recent years, pediatric bone specialists have expressed alarm about an increase in stress fractures among young people in the US. Connett and other scientists are concerned that fluoride-linked to bone damage in studies since the 1930s-may be a contributing factor.

1943 Planning began in 1943 with the appointment of a special New York State Health Department committee to study the advisability of adding fluoride to Newburgh's drinking water. The chairman of the committee was, again, Dr Harold C. Hodge, then chief of fluoride toxicity studies for the Manhattan Project. Subsequent members of the committee included Henry L. Barnett, a captain in the Project's Medical Section, and John W. Fertig, in 1944 with the Office of Scientific Research and Development-the super-secret Pentagon group which sired the Manhattan Project. Their military affiliations were kept secret. Hodge was described as a pharmacologist, Barnett as a pediatrician. Placed in charge of the Newburgh project was David B. Ast, chief dental officer of the New York State Health Department. Ast had participated in a key secret wartime conference on fluoride, held by the Manhattan Project in January 1944, and later worked with Dr Hodge on the Project's investigation of human injury in the New Jersey incident, according to once-secret memos.

1944 A Manhattan Project memorandum of 29 April 1944 states: "Clinical evidence suggests that uranium hexafluoride may have a rather marked central nervous system effect... It seems most likely that the F [code for fluoride] component rather than the T [code for uranium] is the causative factor." The memo, from a captain in the medical corps, is stamped SECRET and is addressed to Colonel Stafford Warren, head of the Manhattan Project's Medical Section. Colonel Warren is asked to approve a program of animal research on CNS effects. "Since work with these compounds is essential, it will be necessary to know in advance what mental effects may occur after exposure... This is important not only to protect a given individual, but also to prevent a confused workman from injuring others by improperly performing his duties. The author of the 1944 CNS research proposal attached to the 29 April memo was Dr Harold C. Hodge-at the time, chief of fluoride toxicology studies for the University of Rochester division of the Manhattan Project.

1944 When a severe pollution incident occurred downwind of the E.I. DuPont de Nemours Company chemical factory in Deepwater, New Jersey. The factory was then producing millions of pounds of fluoride for the Manhattan Project whose scientists were racing to produce the world's first atomic bomb. The farms downwind in Gloucester and Salem counties were famous for their high-quality produce. Their peaches went directly to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City; their tomatoes were bought up by Campbell's Soup. But in the summer of 1944 the farmers began reporting that their crops were blighted: "Something is burning up the peach crops around here." They said that poultry died after an all-night thunderstorm, and that farm workers who ate produce they'd picked would sometimes vomit all night and into the next day. "I remember our horses looked sick and were too stiff to work," Mildred Giordano, a teenager at the time, told these reporters. Some cows were so crippled that they could not stand up; they could only graze by crawling on their bellies. The account was confirmed in taped interviews with Philip Sadtler (shortly before he died), of Sadtler Laboratories of Philadelphia, one of the nation's oldest chemical consulting firms. Sadtler had personally conducted the initial investigation of the damage. The farmers were stonewalled in their search for information about fluoride's effects on their health, and their complaints have long since been forgotten. But they unknowingly left their imprint on history: their complaints of injury to their health reverberated through the corridors of power in Washington and triggered intensive, secret, bomb program research on the health effects of fluoride.

1945 May. Newburgh's water was fluoridated, and over the next 10 years its residents were studied by the New York State Health Department.

1945-1955 Much of the original proof that fluoride is safe for humans in low doses was generated by A-bomb program scientists who had been secretly ordered to provide "evidence useful in litigation" against defense contractors for fluoride injury to citizens. The first lawsuits against the American A-bomb program were not over radiation, but over fluoride damage, the documents show. Human studies were required. Bomb program researchers played a leading role in the design and implementation of the most extensive US study of the health effects of fluoridating public drinking water, conducted in Newburgh, New York, from 1945 to 1955. Then, in a classified operation code-named "Program F", they secretly gathered and analyzed blood and tissue samples from Newburgh citizens with the cooperation of New York State Health Department personnel. The original, secret version (obtained by these reporters) of a study published by Program F scientists in the August 1948 Journal of the American Dental Association1 shows that evidence of adverse health effects from fluoride was censored by the US Atomic Energy Commission (AEC)-considered the most powerful of Cold War agencies-for reasons of "national security". The bomb program's fluoride safety studies were conducted at the University of Rochester-site of one of the most notorious human radiation experiments of the Cold War, in which unsuspecting hospital patients were injected with toxic doses of radioactive plutonium. The fluoride studies were conducted with the same ethical mindset, in which "national security" was paramount.

1995 Dr Phyllis Mullenix, former head of toxicology at Forsyth Dental Center in Boston and now a critic of fluoridation. Animal studies which Mullenix and co-workers conducted at Forsyth in the early 1990s indicated that fluoride was a powerful central nervous system (CNS) toxin and might adversely affect human brain functioning even at low doses. (New epidemiological evidence from China adds support, showing a correlation between low-dose fluoride exposure and diminished IQ in children.) Mullenix's results were published in 1995 in a reputable peer-reviewed scientific journal.

1995 The University of Rochester's classified fluoride studies, code-named "Program F", were started during the war and continued up until the early 1950s. They were conducted at its Atomic Energy Project (AEP), a top-secret facility funded by the AEC and housed at Strong Memorial Hospital. It was there that one of the most notorious human radiation experiments of the Cold War took place, in which unsuspecting hospital patients were injected with toxic doses of radioactive plutonium. Revelation of this experiment-in a Pulitzer Prize&endash winning account by Eileen Welsome-led to a 1995 US presidential investigation and a multimillion-dollar cash settlement for victims.

"Why'd you do it, Doc? Why'd you toss the fluoride folks

I had just tracked down Dr. Hardy Limeback, B.Sc., Ph.D., in
Biochemistry, D.D.S., head of the Department of Preventive Dentistry for
the University of Toronto, and president of the Canadian Association for
Dental Research.

Dr. Limeback is Canada's leading fluoride authority and, until
recently, the country's primary promoter of the controversial additive.

In a surprising newsmaker interview this past April, Dr.
Limeback announced a dramatic change of heart. "Children under three should
never use fluoridated toothpaste," he counseled. "Or drink fluoridated
water. And baby formula must never be made up using Toronto tap water.

Why, I wondered? What could have caused such a powerful paradigm

"It's been building up for a couple of years," Limeback told me
during a recent telephone interview. "But certainly the crowning blow was
the realization that we have been dumping contaminated fluoride into water
reservoirs for half a century. The vast majority of all fluoride additives
come from Tampa Bay, Florida, smokestack scrubbers. The additives are a
toxic byproduct of the super-phosphate fertilizer industry."

"Tragically," he continued, "that means we're not just dumping
toxic fluoride into our drinking water. We're also exposing innocent,
unsuspecting people to deadly elements of lead, arsenic and radium, all of
them carcinogenic. Because of the cumulative properties of toxins, the
detrimental effects on human health are catastrophic."

A recent study at the University of Toronto confirmed Dr.
Limeback's worst fears. "Residents of cities that fluoridate have double
the fluoride in their hip bones vis-a-vis the balance of the population.
Worse, we discovered that fluoride is actually altering the basic
architecture of human bones."

Skeletal fluorosis is a debilitating condition that occurs when
fluoride accumulates in bones, making them extremely weak and brittle. The
earliest symptoms?

"Mottled and brittle teeth," Dr. Limeback told me. "In Canada we
are now spending more money treating dental fluorosis than we do treating
cavities. That includes my own practice."

One of the most obvious living experiments today, Dr. Limeback
believes, is a proof-positive comparison between any two Canadian cities.
"Here in Toronto we've been fluoridating for 36 years. Yet Vancouver -
which has never fluoridated - has a cavity rate lower than Toronto's." And,
he pointed out, cavity rates are low all across the industrialized world
including Europe, which is 98% fluoride free. Low because of improved
standards of living, less refined sugar, regular dental checkups, flossing
and frequent brushing. Now less than 2 cavities per child Canada-wide, he
said. "I don't get it, Doc. Last month, the Centers for Disease Control
(CDC) ran a puff piece all across America saying the stuff was better than
sliced bread.

What's the story?" "Unfortunately," he replied, "the CDC is
basing its position on data that is 50 years old, and questionable at best.
Absolutely no one has done research on fluorosilicates, which is the junk
they're dumping into the drinking water."

"On the other hand," he added, "the evidence against systemic
fluoride in-take continues to pour in."

"But Doc, the dentists."

"I have absolutely no training in toxicity," he stated firmly.
"Your well-intentioned dentist is simply following 50 years of
misinformation from public health and the dental association. Me, too.
Unfortunately, we were wrong."

Last week, Dr. Hardy Limeback addressed his faculty and students
at the University of Toronto, Department of Dentistry. In a poignant,
memorable meetng, he apologized to those gathered before him.

"Speaking as the head of preventive dentistry, I told them that
I had unintentionally mislead my colleagues and my students. For the past
15 years, I had refused to study the toxicology information that is readily
available to anyone. Poisoning our children was the furthest thing from my

"The truth," he confessed to me, "was a bitter pill to swallow.
But swallow it I did."

South of the border, the paradigm shift has yet to dawn. After
half a century of delusion, the CDC, American Dental Association and Public
Health stubbornly and skillfully continue to manipulate public opinion in
favor of fluoridation.

Meantime, study after study is delivering the death knell of the
deadly toxin. Sure, fuoridation will be around for a long time yet, but
ultimately its supporters need to ready the life rafts. The poisonous
waters of doubt and confusion are bound to get choppier.

"Are lawsuits inevitable?" I asked the good doctor. "Remember
tobacco," was his short, succinct reply. Welcome, Dr. Hardy Limeback, to
the far side of the fluoride equation. It's lonely over here, but in our
society loneliness and truth frequently travel hand in hand. Thank you for
the undeniable courage of your convictions.

In 1986-87 ORNL discovered that fluorides in the body cause
accumulation of calcium-fluoride in the lymph nodes and that this damages
the pathogen destruction mechanism of the immune system.

Oak Ridge and its industry minions employ supplanted activist
organizations fabricating mysterious illness directions to hide HF
emission/toxic effects and human nuclear experiment war crimes.

Oak Ridge and other gas diffusion sites are primarily
Bhopal-like chemically affected areas and secondarily a Chernobyl-like
radiation affected area. Gas diffusion sites are also affected with high
coal power emissions and compounded with heavy metal and hundreds of other
emissions from the plants that produce toxic effects. These too, damage the
lymph nodes, as these cells are the most exposed in the body.

These exposures cause shortened longevity, impacted learning,
and produce a gullible population for political and industry profiting.

Those whose health was affected in the Gulf War affected have
related fluoride toxic effects from nerve gases and insoluble metal oxide
concentrations in lung lymph nodes.

In common with GW and DOE gas diffusion ills are long term
halogen toxic and metal oxides insult via bioconcentration into the
lymphatic system, impairment of macrophages, and damage to mitochondria of
cells resulting in immune pathogen protection damage and resultant rise of
viral, bacterial, mycoplasma, and fungal cell damage.

In the new millennium, the truth will set all free to enter a
kinder and gentler time for environment and health.

Fluoride Is Poison, Says Dartmouth Doctor

By Tom Valentine

Fluoride Is Poison, Says Dartmouth Doctor

New evidence seems to confirm that by fluoridating our water, we are poisoning our children.

By Tom Valentine

More than two years ago, the court-killed Spotlight wrote about George Glasser, a citizen researcher who blew the whistle on the use of highly-toxic fluorosilicic acid from rock fertilizer processing as the primary source of community water fluoridation.

Now, a massive study of young children who have been subjected to fluorosilicic acid fluoridation in their New York communities shows that the water additive does not improve kids’ teeth and could even be poisoning them.

Until that time, most people were under the impression that water fluoridation used sodium fluoride, rat poison, a by-product of aluminum manufacturing.

Glasser, however, pointed out that more than 75 percent of the U.S. water fluoridation communities have been using the even more toxic fluorosilicic acid since the late 1970s.

Glasser was the first to stress the excessive toxicity inherent in using the hydrofluorosilicic acid residue that is removed from the industrial pollution control “scrubbers” in the manufacture of phosphate fertilizers.

The chemists refer to this material as silicofluorides and have now conclusively shown that the fluoridation material is linked to other heavy metal toxins that are found in drinking water—lead, arsenic, aluminum and cadmium for example.

In the March 2001 issue of the journal Neuro Toxicology, a team of researchers led by Dr. Roger Masters of Dartmouth College reported evidence that public drinking water fluoridated with fluorosilicic acid is linked to higher levels of lead in children.

After pointing out that since 1992 only about 10 percent of America’s fluoridated communities use sodium fluoride and 90 percent use fluorosilicic acid, the researchers stated that about 140 million Americans have this chemical placed in their water.

They also pointed out that sodium fluoride was tested on animals and approved for human consumption, but fluorosilicic acid had not been so tested and approved.

The research team studied the blood-lead levels in more than 400,000 children in three different samplings. In each case they found a significant link between fluorosilicic acid-treated water and elevated blood levels of lead.

In the latest study, the blood levels of about 150,000 children ranging in ages from infant to 6 were analyzed.

The samples were collected by the New York State Department of Children’s Health from 1994 through 1998.

Researchers concluded that the fluorosilicic acid-treated water was equal to or worse a contributor of blood-lead levels as old house paint.

Dr. Masters said these preliminary findings correlate the fluorosilicic acid water treatment and behavior problems that are due to known effects of lead on brain chemistry.

Additionally, a study in Germany showed the fluorosilicic acid water (SiFs) may inhibit the enzyme cholinesterase which plays a key role in regulating neurotransmitters.

“If SiFs are cholinesterase inhibitors, this means that SiFs have effects like the chemical agents linked to Gulf War Syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome and other puzzling conditions that plague millions of Americans,” Masters said. “We need a better understanding of how SiFs behave chemically and physiologically.”

Last March, Dr. Masters testified before New Hampshire legislators in favor of the Fluoride Product Quality Control Act. The bill would put the SiFs to a series of tests, and perhaps further research on neurotoxicity and behavior.

“If further research confirms our findings,” Masters said, “this may well be the worst environmental poison since leaded gasoline.”

The EPA admits it has no data on the health and behavioral effects of SiFs.

Dr. Masters asked: “Shouldn’t we stop intentionally exposing 140 million Americans to an untested chemical until the risks are extensively and objectively evaluated by independent researchers?”

And, the final insult: There is no conclusive evidence that fluoridation of drinking water significantly improves the teeth of children at all.

Some research says that flouride in the "filtered water" from the soda can actually pulls aluminum from the inner wall of until we drink it. Another reason to stay away from soda!

We have an old fashioned soda company a few towns over that uses a reverse osmosis machine when making their soda. It costs a little more but it sure tastes better than Ca Ca Cola.
Only comes in GLASS bottles too.

fluoride ? seems it would try to permeate the can's interior and put up a layer insulating not the other way around...

now the acid/alcohol in a beverage is another story...personally I am convinced the jury's more than out on this "leaching" of aluminum in the drink....

waiting for some cock-eyed scientist to really take this on...

used to be a keystone beer commercial...that said they're can's were insulated to protect the taste...from what ?

aluminum ?

Fluoride also calcifies the pinneal gland from what I've read. The pinneal is supposedly responsible for creating spiritual and visionary experiences in humans.

That is downright messed up if that is true. And downright evil and satanic.

No wonder TBTB push it so much.

Really makes you wonder, doesn't it? It makes no sense that TPTB would push for adding fluoride to the water, most recently Tony Blair, to care for children's teeth. What about children's education, health, and future? As long as they've got nice teeth, I guess it doesn't matter. They seem to forget that fluoride is only helpful if applied topically, not ingested. I got a friend who lived in Lincoln, NE, where the fluoride levels are low, and never had a cavity growing up. Went to Iowa City for college, where the fluoride levels are really high, and got 8 cavities in 4 years.

To me that is just an example of pure evil.

These people want OUR SOULS...I'm conviced.

They want us totally manipulated, controlled, dumbed down and basically beasts of burden.

It's incredible.

I think they know that we are all a part of somthing larger that science just can't explain and are afraid that humans will actually seize their own personal sovereignty and begin to understand how WICKED the world is getting.

Basically numbing our spirt like novacaine numbs nerves.

My sister told me that a "flouride lady" comes around to her son's kindergarten class and all of the kids have to "swish and spit" with a mouthful of flouride mouthwash 2 times a week in th morning.

I told her to complain but she thinks it's a non-issue.

I really don't know. I'm a assuming the nurse who goes there is a State healthcare worker from the local Hospital.

I think it comes mabye down from the state or federal level. Some program under the guise of "disadvantaged kids" mabye?

That's what happens when you put your kids in PUBLIC schools. But it may go on at private schools.

I guess the nurse comes in in the morning, makes the kids rinse with this stuff and this goes on for a few months twice a week.

Fluoride in the tap water is the #1 reason I feel that there is some sort of conspiracy afoot to dump down the populace. What state does your sister live in? I'm gonna ask my little sis if that is happening at her school.

fluoride is naturally occuring in veggies...

unfortunately some children get more candy than veggies...and benefit from a supplement...

mercury filling are far more of a risk...

Still, the amounts that some cities put in the water can have negative long term effects- it's not necessary to do it. Do you know off hand which veggies contain it, or do all?
I haven't needed fillings for awhile, do they still use mercury ones?
