Lydia Pence OMG!! she was fantastic.and so underated.
I agreee so many cool we term them Theatrcal rock such as Rush,Styx and like you said Emerson, lake and Palmer.Moody Blues and even Meatloaf.
Remeber one of the greatest musicals came out then too Rocky Horror.
The Timewarp song AWESOME!
We have a practice clip of us (practice for sure)with a full band except no keyboard.
but I wish I could and I think I can send a clip of a tune or two but I can't do it on here because they are not original tunes. My husband knows how to do it I have them loaded into my Itunes as songs.Would like to let you hear a bit of our output.I don't think we suck too bad,of course maybe we had a long run playing in the bars because the people were too drunk to notice if we were terrible.Hope that isn't the fact.
The eighties USED musical technologies to the fullest I think.
You think of songs such as Turning Japanese and Should I Stay Or Should I Go(drum licks are just tooooooo much on this tune)It was like different things were going on a one time truley cool.
yeah the good ol days music really, did rock. |

We saw The Vapors (Turning Japanese) open for Gary Numan in Los Angeles in 1980. Both bands really blew us away, especially Numan. His band was absolutely psychoactive, and the bass player was one monster, who reminded us of Pastorious or Miles Davis' BP MArcus Miller. Numan was operating from another dimension we think.
ELP's first night in the USA (Fillmore East March 1971) was THE show that made EVERYONE better musicians. There was no slouching now. When we saw the vicious playing and beautiful singing by Greg Lake, we knew Science FIction music was here now. They started with "The Barbarian", and seeing Emerson playing two orgams at once will be something you can never forget. The encore was a song from their second album, called "Tarkus", starting with that sycopated 5/4 time signature.
Of course we saw The Mothers of Invention, The Strawbs, The Beatles, Spirit, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, DEVO, The Art of Noise (Whew!!!!!), The Fixx, Psychedelic Furs, Orchestral Manourvoures, KIng Crimson, Gentle Giant, Genesis (First Night in the USA), on and on. The only thing that even compared to this level of musicianship recently was a three hour show by Meat Beat Manifesto in New York. I believe there is a dumbing down of musical tastes now, and you have to really search very hard for new music that pushes the Sonic Envelope. _________________ Heard it from a pilot who spoke real gooooood! |

The ramones and abba are my favorites, i also like james brown and merle haggard a lot.
Trance music puts me in a bad mood, i avoid it at all costs.
I'll be looking at the chemjets in my backyard as i listen to "i want to be sedated" by the ramones while detoxing inside my portable steam room.
Detox is the key to survival, hydrothermia is best. |

Oooh way cool...
I regret not meeting him backstage after last summer concert here in Cro...but I'm sure it would be more interesting to know him before he got famous or Infamous like KnoW-ThiS said
The obsessive part is pretty obvious. _________________ *~Peace&Ganja~* |
