Strange thing happened PostThu Apr 26, 2001 8:30 am  Reply with quote

Well, I have debated for hours if I should post on this strange thing that happened today and finally I thought what the heck. I have to wonder if I am beginning to be a bit paranoid(from reading to many posts LOL) Ok here goes. Don't laugh this scared the crap out of me. I am living at my parents house with my husband and 3 children while we purchase a house. I know that the Aol is in his name, but I don't know if that means anything. I was outside today with my mother and she was in the front with the kids while I was washing the car out in the back. As I was looking up there was a very well groomed man, tall and dressed very nice walking up to me. He was carrying some type of folders so I thought for sure he was selling something. That was until he started asking questions. He asked me if I lived here. I said yes. He introduced himself I don't want to give his name but he was from the FBI. Yep scared the living you know what out of me. I thought, here we go. He flashed his badge and he asked for my father. I told him that he could speak to his wife in the front. I walked him around to the front where my mom was. He began to ramble asking questions about my fathers vehicle. I guess that they had a crime in Yakima, WA which by the way is at least 6 hours from us, and that they ran a check on all the vehicles and they needed to ask some ?? So anyway he didn't stay long. My mother told him that nobody else but the 2 of them drive the car and that it had not be loaned out to anyone. He said that not to worry about it, just routine and needed to check it out. I guess the car was similar to the one used in the crime. I think I have seem at least 1000 or more of this old beater(LOL) going down the road. I don't think that it meant anything. But he did get uneasy when my mom started asking him questions. He left a few minutes later. I think I was thrown off guard for a few minutes, after all it is not everyday that you have FBI come to your door. My mom said maybe you should stay off those boards. I told her no way! I will not let anyone try and play games with me. Besides you guys are all to nice to stay away.(LOL) Just wanted to share my strange day with you guys. I don't think it was anything, just a little creepy thats all! God Bless,
Melanie

Thing to do would be to obtain a case number and request the original police report from the local agency that was inolved, then see if the description of the vehicle matches.

Honestly, it sounds legit though. Must have been a pretty serious crime for an FBI agent to be doing the legwork on this case.

Don't tell NSA about this. He'll have you booked on the next plane out of the country!

Chem 11, Hey thanks for the advise. Sounds like a good idea. I am sure that it was nothing, just a little strange. I think that the crime was a bank robbery or something. I think it would be easy to check on. As far as leaving the country, that is so funny! Nope not going to go anywhere. You had me laughing so hard that I thought I was going to choke! I will try and see what I can find out today about the story. I'll try and see if it checks out. Have a good day.
God Bless,
Melanie

WonderWmm... I'm curious now as to what kind of questions did your mom ask the FBI agent that made him uneasy?

I'm sure if the rest of us start reporting unexpected visits from the FBI then we've really got something to start worrying about.

Hi WW93,

The guy may be a fake with a phony badge? He could just as easily be some crook trying to 'case' your house/car/situation for a robbery or a scam. Especially if you are well-off, nice home etc. Or it could just be related to your father. Or even a sexual predator after you or your kids. I mean, it does happen.

It's probably totally unrelated to any of your internet surfing. You could report it to local authorities to be safe. And get his license plate number, description, photo, etc. if you ever see him again.
