as mech continues his disgusting personal anti-American campaign against the U.S to aid terrorists and lend comfort to saddam....seems the Canadians get it....

"At this point I think there is no use debating the reasons why some people think war is necessary and some people think it is not. We should not say anything that would comfort Saddam Hussein," he told reporters

btw that sure don't look like a on topic protest to me kook...with that "save the trees" protest sign and all....thought this was a gulf war thread ?

It says..."We need TREES..not BUSH"

That was a picture from the MASSIVE protest in Berlin this morning.

ANYONE who has enough motivation can check it out for themselves.

As far as your comments of "protesters giving comfort to Saddam?"

ROLFLMAO!!!

Dude...you need your f--king head examined.

Right now..hundreds of tanks are decending on Basra and soon many Iraqi civilians and U.S. Troops will be dropping like flies for Bush's imperialist agenda.

Let the record show that you supported this.

Kiss my 1st Amendment protected veteran @$$ Seeker.

That sounds typical of your heartless, blood buttered, greedy personality.

Someday you will answer for it..trust me.

Those people over there are not human shields "for saddam." Only a NEO-CON would assume as much.

REAL patriots ask questions.

NOT the armchair Archie Bunker slobs waving the Chinese slavelabor made plastic American flags.

"Traitorous" my @$$.

At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."

THE REAL TRAITOR

Relieved to be finally getting his chance to slaughter Iraqis.

Bush gets off on death

March 20, 2003
George W. Is High on Killing
http://www.davidcogswell.com/

Every once in a while we experience one of those little moments when a small tear breaks through the social fabric and allows us a glimpse of its underlying workings.

A Knight Ridder reporter was treated to such a rare glimpse and apparently couldn't resist including it in his story, though it was tangential to the narrative. And no editor cut it out, so we are left with a gem, a glimpse into the strange personality of George W.

The article was a description of Bush's speech announcing that he had ordered strikes to begin on Iraq. Here's the quote: "Minutes before the speech, an internal television monitor showed the president pumping his fist. 'Feels good,' he said."

Dubya is now at the brink of what he has pushed for relentlessly for years, perhaps as far back as 1992 when Bill Clinton was elected and ruined Daddy Bush's chance to continue his agenda and get in a few more armed engagements, which surely would have included a return to Iraq to take revenge for his embarassment over people talking about "the wimp factor" and saying he was a little feminine.

CNN started hyping "Iraq: The Unfinished War" with its own logo back in December 2001 even before George W. took office. It has been a long time coming. It took 911 to clear the way for the war Bush desired so passionately. Now he is so close he can taste it. The blood has begun to flow, and it is exhilarating. Soon he will have Saddam Hussein's head.

We are talking now about a guy who as a kid put firecrackers in frogs and threw them into the air to watch them explode. He cracked himself up in an interview with Talk magazine by mocking a woman on death row whose cries for mercy he scorned, screwing up his face and saying, "Please don't kill me!" in an impersonation of the deceased.

He presided over more executions as governor of Texas than any governor since capital punishment was legalized. His own people said he never spent more than 15 minutes deliberating over whether to sign the order to kill. This included at least one case in which the public defender slept during the trial, and many other cases in which the court-appointed lawyers obviously just took the money and ran, leaving their clients to the mercy of a vicious and corrupt system. This is a man who enjoys killing. He is totally in his element when it comes to killing. Everyone is different. This is the way he is.

It reminds me of something in Ed Sanders' book on the Charles Manson murders The Family, in which Sanders described Manson as one who, even more than the excessive drug use and sex of his little tribe, got off on murder. Some people like it.

Then there was Ted Bundy, the serial killer. In one documentary film, a police detective who had worked to track down Bundy seemed uncharacteristically amazed when he said, "I never encountered anyone who was so consumed with murder."

So here is George preparing to give his speech announcing that the killing has begun in Iraq, the long-awaited moment. And there he is pumping his fist and saying, "Feels good!" It makes perfect sense, too much sense.

That's one for the history books.

Peace Action: Demonstrations for Peace Increase
U.S. Newswire

Demonstrations for Peace Increase Across Country and World Spurred
by Bush's Unprovoked Attack on Iraq, Peace Movement Gains Momentum

WASHINGTON, March 20 /U.S. Newswire/ -- President Bush's
unprovoked attack on Iraq has stimulated an increase in pro-peace
activity throughout the U.S. and around the world. The increase in
activity is a rebuke of the Bush administration's position that
unilateral aggression against Iraq is the way to peace and
disarmament. There are over 500 pro-peace events that are
scheduled, across this country, for today and there are hundreds
more scheduled for this weekend.

"We are dispelling any delusions on the part of the part of the
Bush administration or the right-wing pundits, that this
well-developed, broad based peace movement is going to dry up and
blow away in the face of war and their nationalistic propaganda
blitz. There are Americans turning out in streets of this country
in nearly ever state and country of the Union. We are united! We
stand united, for peace, for America and for our troops," said
Kevin Martin, Executive Director of Peace Action.

-- Peace Action activists across the country are organizing
emergency anti-war demonstrations from Maine to Oregon. Interviews
with local organizers are available through the Peace Action
national office. --

Although the Bush Administration acts as if the only victim of
this war will be Saddam Hussein, it is a fact that war means the
death of innocent people: women, men, children. Peace Action joins
with its partners in the United for Peace and Justice coalition in
encouraging individuals to express anti-war sentiments by wearing
black and yellow armbands or lapel ribbons. The black in the
armbands will symbolize mourning for the thousands of innocent
Iraqi people and U.S. service men and women who will be killed in
this unjust and unnecessary war. The yellow in the armband will
symbolize our support for the American troops and our desire to see
them return home safely.

"In a break with the basic tenets of our democracy and against
the wishes of the community of nations, world religious leaders and
citizens around the globe, the Bush administration has chosen to
attack, without provocation, the country of Iraq. In committing our
troops to fight a war of aggression, outside the rule of law, Bush
has, in an act of malfeasance, put U.S. troops at risk
unnecessarily. We believe the best way to support our troops is to
bring them home now and pursue the alternatives to war that other
nations and world leaders still believe are possible.

Our commitment to peace is redoubled in the face of the terrible
violence that Bush and Blair are in the process of visiting upon
the people of Iraq. To that end we will, in the best traditions of
our democracy, continue to non-violently act for peace," concluded
Martin.

Peace Action (the merger of Sane and The Nuclear Freeze) http://www.peace-action.org is the country's largest peace and
disarmament organization with over 100,000 members.

Thousands bring cities to standstill as conflict starts

Britain suffers urban chaos on first full day of action in the Gulf
BILLY BRIGGS
http://www.libertyforum.org/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=news_news&Number=509487&t=-1

THOUSANDS of anti-war protesters took to the streets of cities and towns across the UK yesterday to demonstrate against the outbreak of military action in Iraq.

Workers, children, and students were involved in a series of protests that brought many city centres to a standstill on what was the first full day of war in the Gulf.

A number of demonstrations turned ugly when protesters clashed with police and 17 arrests were made.

In London, police drew their truncheons in Parliament Square to turn back a section of a 5000-strong crowd after demonstrators tried to force their way into Whitehall. Officers were pelted with bottles and sticks torn away from banners.

Anti-war protesters who forced a train to stop in Cumbria found it was full of Celtic fans en route to last night's Uefa cup clash at Liverpool. They halted their demonstration when the fans disembarked to see what was causing the hold-up, the anti-war group said.

Scotland's five biggest cities all saw demonstrations. Traffic was brought to a standstill in Glasgow city centre for several hours as around 3000 protesters gathered at George Square and surrounding streets.

An American flag was burned and two men were detained after they threw a bucket of red paint filled with plastic babies at the office of an army recruitment office.

Protesters also blocked rush-hour traffic trying to join the M8 at one of its busiest junctions. Around 200 people stopped cars getting on or off the motorway at Charing Cross, just north of the Kingston bridge.

Angry motorists were involved in furious arguments with some of the demonstrators, and police had to step in to quell tensions.

A police helicopter was deployed last night by Strathclyde Police to check on the movements of the protesters who dispersed to different areas of the city.

Mike Gonzales, 59, a lecturer at Glasgow University, said he had joined the demonstration in an attempt to save the lives of Iraqi citizens.

He said: "I think this protest is the next step in an important movement to demonstrate that we are not convinced by this war."

In Edinburgh, around 500 people marched down to the foot of the Mound for an impromptu rally, which was addressed by MSPs Tommy Sheridan and Lloyd Quinan. Police made several arrests and criticised organisers for failing to agree on a plan or a route for the march.

In Dundee, school students hurled stones at buses, and eggs were thrown at police lines at the city chambers. Hundreds of schoolchildren stopped traffic on the Tay Road bridge when they held a sit-down protest against the war.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said: "Minor damage was caused, but the majority of the young people involved conducted themselves in a reasonable manner and protested peacefully."

In Aberdeen, protesters forced rush-hour traffic to grind to a halt as they lay down in the middle of Union Street. The main thoroughfare came to a standstill as hundreds of people spilled on to the road to support the lie-down.

Officers from Grampian Police arrived to calm the situation and a number of arrests were made.

Demonstrations also took place in Lerwick and Inverness, and a number of medical staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary staged a protest.

Liverpool police were called to remove people, including many schoolchildren, who blocked the Mersey tunnel, and in Manchester, hundreds of demonstrators gathered for a second day of protests.

In Swansea, hundreds of pupils staged classroom sit-ins after being stopped from joining a protest in the city.

In Cambridge, 17 people, including children as young as 14, were arrested after a day of protests in the city. The group was arrested after more than 400 demonstrators sat down and brought traffic to a halt.

Many other places around the UK witnessed spontaneous protests, and the government's own civil service staff joined lunchtime anti-war events. The Home Office, the department of food and rural affairs, the Scotland Office, Inland Revenue, and John Prescott's office were all affected.

Tony Blair's official spokesman said that the prime minister was aware of the protests.

He added: "He has always accepted that there are different views in relation to this debate and he has always respected people's right to express those views."

In Scotland, a political row broke out after officials at West Dunbartonshire Council defended its decision to let some of its staff participate in yesterday's protests.

mech is once again turning every thread here into a peace protest nwo thread...

I am sick of the hypocrisy of kook with regards to "on topic discussion" as long as it fits her agenda...

a fair and balanced mod she is not...

why don't we just rename this to mech central...and make all the bush bashing America hating regular posters happy ?

What an ourtageous post -
Seeker you've managed to rise above your benchmark.

If our so called leaders cared as much for this country and the constitution as Mech and Fla Kook . . . there would be no need
for this thread.

Fla Kook is one of the best moderator's C.C has ever had - she is more than fair and has plenty of integrity too.

BTW - Chicago had a great turn out of
peaceful protesters today - they're still out
in full force. While they've tied up traffic -
everyone is honking and giving a thumbs up in support.

Pray for our troops, send letters of support, send care packages, and carry on with peaceful protests.

Seek you are right, it's not fair to bash Bush when PNAC is driving him, whispering in his ear day and night with promises of frogs and black market fire-crackers, the kind of bribe no red blooded American boy can refuse!
