Drifting Towards Fascism PostMon Jun 16, 2003 5:31 pm  Reply with quote

Fascism: "A philosophy of government that stresses the primacy and glory of the state ... obedience to its leader, subordination of the individual will to the state's authority ... suppression of dissent. Martial virtues are celebrated, while liberal democratic values are denigrated ... led by charismatic leaders who represented to their publics the strength that could rescue their nation from political and economic conditions." - Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Encyclopedia.

What shall I call this new America in-the-making just three years into a new century?

These days I find myself unable to swallow what I have told myself, in both the best and worst of times, about ourselves as Americans. All the old words have broken loose from reality. They rattle like falsehoods in the nation's throat.

Based upon how our America now conducts itself among its fellow human beings - including us, its own citizenry - what is our nation becoming? What, if we're honest with ourselves, are we to call a system of government that behaves in these ways:

* Taxes its ordinary people into unfathomable national debt, thereby ensuring that its rich revel in even more riches, its poor regress into even more poverty, its military rejoice in even more militarism?

* Devises and enforces policies that starve public services for its most vulnerable citizenry - its children, its elderly, its working poor, its racial minorities?

* Sells national and state legislation to the highest bidders from among wealthy interest groups, while vigorously resisting reforms that would restore democratic power to the individual?

* Exercises its contempt for the collective will of other nations by unilaterally tearing up global arms and environmental treaties, while dismissing both the legal and moral authority of the United Nations?

* Invades and conquers a sovereign country by fabricating military intelligence as a pretext for invasion, then, declares "liberation" as its real intention all along as it expropriates that nation's oil fields?

* Turns one cataracted eye to atrocities in dozens of other countries that have no oil wells to liberate, the other to a report by Amnesty International critical of its own behavior as a "liberator"?

* In a work of egregious TV propaganda, lands its supreme leader "at sea" (costumed as a fighter pilot) on the state-of-the-art USS Abraham Lincoln to proclaim victory over a third-rate, enfeebled nation?

* Holds nameless prisoners incommunicado, without counsel or charges, for indefinite periods of time, in addition incarcerating the highest proportion of its own citizens (most of them black) in the world?

* Actively attempts to nullify laws intended to ensure equality for racial and other minorities, at the same time invoking evangelical Christianity as the primary motive for all of its policies?

* Alone among Western nations preserves capital punishment, even seeking to try alleged murderers in states where, upon conviction, the likelihood of execution is most probable?

* Threatens the civil rights of individual citizens by expanding its surveillance and policing powers, including pressuring libraries to release to federal authorities the reading records of library patrons?

* Conspires to consolidate media control - and thereby dissemination of "news" information - among corporate leviathans lavishly invested in perpetuating the incumbent party's political power?

Footnote: Fascism: "A philosophy of government that stresses the primacy and glory of the state ... obedience to its leader, subordination of the individual will to the state's authority ... suppression of dissent. Martial virtues are celebrated, while liberal democratic values are denigrated ... led by charismatic leaders who represented to their publics the strength that could rescue their nation from political and economic conditions." - Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Encyclopedia.

Hey now..I'm somewhat a conervative Shatoga..but more like a Constitutionalist because the word "conservative" has been totally abused. Much like the word "liberal".

I hate to say it but this article illustrates CLEARLY that Americans these days do NOT have much to be proud of.

Contrary to what FOX says.

In fact...it's feeling more and more like old Communist RUSSIA here than the USA.
People are so mind controlled and blind they can't see it, but I certainly can. It's frightening...downright CHILLING.

You are speaking for yourself here of course. If you don't like America...leave. It's really that simple.

And I still agree 100% with Barry goldwater.

A true American constitutionalist and conservative.

"I didn't leave them; they left me."
-Barry Goldwater
(explaining why the party had kicked him out.)

We both support and defend the US Constitution Mech.

We can put petty politics aside and support America first!

Americans have little to be proud of:
and FW's quote above is the reason.

In the 'peoples' republic of bushylvania':

Fascists have taken over.

LONG LIVE THE FASCISTS!

After all...if they are running the country right now, as $#@#! says...then they are doing an outstanding job! But I'm confused, are the fascists running the country or the globalists as Mech says? Are fascists also globalists? If so...then why hasn't Bush let the UN or EU usurp US sovereignty as Gore or Clinton would have done? Fascism, it seems to me, is the opposite of NWO ism..

Oh...is this why you support a welfare state? Again...if you can't find the welfare state clause in the constitution...but you support it, then you must not be a constitutionalist. You must be a liar by default. This is simple deductive reasoning.

FART-Talker most certainly DOES support a welfare state...provided that welfare goes to CORPORATIONS...

Proving FArt-Talker is one of the biggest socialist advocates around and a total hypocrite.

He wouldn't know anything about the NWO/Illuminati even if Ru$h Limbaugh himself explained it to him.

Nor would he care enough to learn and understand.

It's much easier to embrace FASCISM I guess.

Makes you look "patriotic". Supposedly.

FART-Talker "Love it or Leave it, how dare you question our saviors" mentality at work.

Dear Jeff:

THIS IS VERY FRIGHTENING! I believe Bush is making Adolph Hitler look more like George Washington than a tyrannical dictator by his own actions.

Hitler didn't hesitate to use the name of God in his quest for power, now I believe Bush is going to enslave us all in the name of Jesus.

Daniel 8:24 "And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people."

The net of police/military control in America appears to be on the advanced fast track, or it would seem by the way the forces of control are being put in place with more art form than a major choreographed Hollywood production.

I had to ask myself; "How could an intelligent society of people, a people who have already witnessed these very same events and modus operandi in other parts of the world, accept so willingly, and without question, the constraints being placed on us by our "leaders" and the allowing of the usurpation of our very freedoms by which we live?" I recalled something from my childhood that for some reason stuck vividly in my memory.

What was the answer, what power could sway two-hundred fifty plus million people? The answer is very simple. The answer is tried and true and NEVER fails. The answer is FEAR!

When I was a kid, the big event of the day (besides playing cops and robbers) was going to the movies on Saturday. Televisions were very scarce then and news was obtained by news papers, magazines, current events in school (yes, they actually taught), or "watching the radio." Yes, we actually sat and watched the radio. In the movies there was always a "News Reel" providing capsulated updates of world events. You wouldn't think a ten year old, or twelve year old child would pay much attention to world events, but children see, and hear, and understand, much more that we give them credit for. For example, my children were raised on the Viet Nam war, sitting in front of the TV watching foreign children and families shot and burned to death and then turning to me and asking "why Dad" why are we killing those people? But, I digress. Back to the fear element.

Watching those News Reels I was always impressed with how people in other parts of the world lived. I knew nothing of politics of course, but I did understand sadness and grief. When the people of Moscow were shown in Red Square coming and going about their daily affairs and business during some type of news coverage there, I couldn't help but notice that no one, I mean not one person in the camera's view ever smiled. No one stopped and chatted on the streets as we do in America. There were no children playing and laughing in those news reels, only drudgery and silence. There was always a look of fear and suspicion on their faces. I thought, what a dreadful way to live! I thought at times it might be the cold inclimate weather, as it always seemed to be winter time there in Moscow, but it wasn't the weather.

When a news correspondent would walk up to a citizen to interview them, they (the citizen) would look around cautiously as if being watched and observed, you could see the fear and distrust in their eyes. There were always uniformed soldiers standing around, observing, and no telling how many under cover spies. Even as a young child I thought how lucky I am, this could never happen in America. WRONG! I saw the same type of scared look when I saw people from the Republic of China being filmed, that look is unmistakable.

I see events transpiring in America today which will change American life forever, all due to these so called Terrorist Acts Bills and laws now being put in place. I recently read where a poll was taken which indicates that as many as 75% of American's are willing to sacrifice liberty and rights for safety. My God! How pathetic. I am only glad that these same American's were not around to be depended upon to win our liberties some 200 years ago, we would all still be speaking the accepted English language and drinking cups of tea while being subservant to some King George. Hmmm, King George? Isn't that a little ironic?

Yes, the greatest weaknesses in the world are ignorance and apathy, while the strongest weapon, stronger than any thermonuclear warhead, is FEAR.

The article is but another bomb in the arsenal of tactics for total tyrannical government with fascist leaders, but, what do I know? Voices of reason have been drowned out by propaganda and fear throughout history, this will be no exception.

America, the home of the brave and the free......at least for a short while longer, so enjoy it while you can, the puzzle is almost complete now.

some might think it's right around the corner...

a good read, some snippets below :

Retired astronomer and desert rat Chuck Clark has a new hobby. He's prowled the hills and deserts of Lincoln County for several years now, has photographed exotic aircraft in the skies, and keeps an eye on the top secret base known as Area 51. He's even written a book about the place. Over the past few months, he's discovered that the military has been installing secret sensor devices on public lands surrounding the base. Using a frequency counter device, he can tell when his vehicle trips a sensor. When that happens, he looks for the hard-to-spot wire atop the device, and then he digs them up, takes pictures, and puts them back.

Two days later, FBI agents, working with Air Force intelligence and the Joint Terrorism Task Force http://www.fbi.gov/terrorinfo/counterrorism/partnership.htm, raided Clark’s home and seized photos, records and his computer. Is it legal for anyone to touch military sensors hidden on public land? The government doesn’t think so, although Clark hasn’t been charged with anything, is the military trying to silence this outback gadfly?
