Secret Iraqi Missile Plant Uncovered

A German intelligence agency has pinpointed the location of a super-secret Iraqi missile factory just 25 miles from Baghdad, proving that Saddam Hussein has not given up his attempts to build weapons of mass destruction despite his failure to secure missile parts, including navigational instruments, from Russia and North Korea.
According to Germany’s Bild newspaper, the German BND foreign intelligence service discovered the plant where they say some 250 engineers are working to perfect a new missile capable of hitting targets as far away as central Europe.
The spy agency reports that the plant known as "Al Mamoun" consists of several well-hidden buildings far from any main roads. Some of the facilities are underground.
Bild reports that the spy service "has now provided proof of what Western intelligence services have long suspected" – that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is still developing non-conventional weapons.
The plant is currently producing a solid-fuel short-range missile which has a range of only 90-plus miles, but the significance of the discovery of the plant, according to the intelligence service, is that it shows that "the Iraqi will and personnel for developing missiles still exist."
According to Bild, the intelligence service believes that Iraqi technicians are now working to design and build missiles with a range of 1,800 miles which have both a chemical and biological capability.
With such a range the Iraqis could hit targets not only in Israel but also in central Europe, noted Bild, which quoted intelligence officials as saying there was "a very real danger that, rather sooner than later, Germany will also fall within range of these weapons."

not at all...they have been hiding s!@# for years...and using bioweapons for years...have a track record of doing it... saddam and company were very bad dudes...we did business with them at one time...big damn mistake...the war was justified...a thousand times over when the first child was let out of prison...
(all children who did not want to participate in the baath party were put in prison)

WASHINGTON – While President Bush's critics continue to claim he hyped the Iraqi nuclear threat in his State of the Union Address, a recently declassified Central Intelligence Agency assessment obtained by Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin shows the CIA took very seriously Saddam Hussein's efforts to reconstitute his nuclear weapons program.
The report, "Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction Programs," dated October 2002, concluded Baghdad would "probably have a nuclear weapons during this decade."
"Baghdad hides large portions of Iraq's WMD efforts," the CIA report said. "Revelations after the Gulf war starkly demonstrate the extensive efforts undertaken by Iraq to deny information. Since inspections ended in 1998, Iraq has maintained its chemical weapons effort, energized its missile program, and invested more heavily in biological weapons; most analysts assess Iraq is reconstituting its nuclear weapons program."
The CIA was also reporting the following four months before President Bush's State of the Union Address:
Although Saddam probably does not yet have nuclear weapons or sufficient material to make any, he remains intent on acquiring them. How quickly Iraq will obtain its first nuclear weapon depends on when it acquires sufficient weapons-grade fissile material.
If Baghdad acquires sufficient weapons-grade fissile material from abroad, it could make a nuclear weapon within a year.
Without such material from abroad, Iraq probably would not be able to make a weapon until the last half of the decade.
Iraq's aggressive attempts to obtain proscribed high-strength aluminum tubes are of significant concern. All intelligence experts agree that Iraq is seeking nuclear weapons and that these tubes could be used in a centrifuge enrichment program. Most intelligence specialists assess this to be the intended use, but some believe that these tubes are probably intended for conventional weapons programs.
Based on tubes of the size Iraq is trying to acquire, a few tens of thousands of centrifuges would be capable of producing enough highly enriched uranium for a couple of weapons per year.
Bush's critics, some of whom have even hinted at impeachment over what they see as deceptiveness in the State of the Union, zero in on 16 words in the Jan. 28 speech: "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."
British intelligence, as well as British Prime Minister Tony Blair, have stood behind its report on efforts by Iraq to secure uranium from the nation of Niger. The CIA has said it could not independently verify the intelligence.
The controversy started July 6, when an envoy sent by the CIA to Africa last year to investigate the uranium claim contended that the Bush administration ignored – and possibly manipulated – his findings. In a New York Times op-ed article, Joseph Wilson, former U.S. ambassador to Gabon, said it was highly doubtful that any transaction took place.
The next day, the White House acknowledged that Bush should not have made the claim because of concerns about the intelligence behind it. Some documents allegedly showing an Iraq-Niger uranium connection turned out to be forgeries.
Democrats in Congress and on the presidential campaign trail demanded an investigation into whether Bush exaggerated intelligence.
But the CIA report dating back to October 2002 would seem to show clearly that U.S. intelligence was indeed concerned about Iraq's efforts to reconstitute its nuclear weapons program. While not specifically addressing the Niger issue, the CIA was warning that if Hussein could secure uranium, he could develop a nuclear weapon within a year.

And like I said, Seeker, if people like Mech were in charge, God help us all. Saddam would have had to have built and used a nuclear weapon before these America/Bush hating leftists would do anything about it.
There are many things I disagree with Bush regarding domestic policy and compromising with Democrats...but his foreign policy has been absolutely spot on. Without Bush, Saddam would still be killing and torturing and starving his people. The Middle East would still be a breeding ground for terrorist mosquitoes, without any fear whatsoever that there would be any repercussions for attacks on the US. The Taliban would still be training terrorists and oppressing people in Afghanistan. Al-Queda would still be an efficient well organized group of terrorist bent on obtaining a nuclear weapon. ...
Look at the situation now....Israel and Palestine are actually in negotiation. The Al-queda is on the run and in almost complete shambles and disarray. The Taliban no longer exists. Saddam and Bin Ladin are no longer threats to anyone....Saddam's evil sons are taking dirt naps in Hell....Iraq is no longer building WMDs....and we don't have to wonder how soon Saddam will be a nuclear power. Saddam is no longer paying Palestinians to blow themselves up. Now the entire Arab world takes us seriously.....They know the US word is good, and that nations who harbor terrorists face the imminent possibility of their own destruction...This is miraculous...
All thanks to GW Bush. I'll live with some of his concessions to Democrats, and somewhat liberal governing style, if the man accomplishes these feats in the grand scheme of things...I don't believe there's another possible US president, who would have had the guts to do the same, to protect the worlds free nations for future generations to live in peace.
Four more years for Bush, will secure America's future...if not the world’s….
