Trails in Sydney???

Just thought id share this. I was travelling by train to work about 8:40am on the 23 of may. In parts, when the embankment along the side of the track dips you get a great view out over Sydneys southern suburbs. This particular morning the sky was completelly clear, however there was a large *front* of heavy clouds moving in from the East.
In the sky above the southern suburbs there were several trails running from the south west to North East. There were maybe 2 running in the opposite direction so as to cross over but most were in a SW>NE direction. I only watched one being formed and this was very gradual. By about 10:30 when I was able to get to a window at work, the cloud bank had moved right over so anything that was there was no longer visible.
This area is not a normal flight path for aircraft and I work in a Hotel that is very close to the intl. airport. On this day the aircraft were taking off to the North towards the CBD.
Just thought it was a bit odd. Have there been any reports from Australia? (im not a real follower of the phenomenon)Any nfo please E-mail me. Thanx.
