Technology for Suppression of Contrail Cloud Formation PostTue Aug 14, 2001 7:50 pm  Reply with quote

Fellow researchers,

Take the time to go and view/download

US patent 5,005,355

This patent describes a method for suppression of contrails using some simple and relatively cheap additives. The patent is close to being out of date so "Duncan" if you are reading this see if Boeing can get this additive added to the market so you can start suppressing the formation of contrails in your jets.

This would settle the issue of contrails being made on purpose or by accident or by changes in fuel additives or troposphere/stratospheric temperature changes.

If this technology is applied after the patent has expired you wont even have to pay royalties. The components are relativly cheap so the cost should not be prohibitive.

On military jets it will add a bit of stealth to them as well since they wont be conning and bringing attention to themselves.

The added benifit for us is that it would make it a lot harder for any spray operations to be explained away as normal since contrails would no longer be the norm.

The referenced patents also make for a good way to research into the combusion process in jet engines as well.

Thanks chemorg.

One point that I've seen made by debunkers is, why wouldn't TPTB just use this technology to make Chemtrails invisible, and prevent us from glimpsing their operations?

Well, the answer is simple. The technology is for CONTRAILS! Chemtrails are preported to be a dispersal of a liquid substance. The technology probably wouldn't work for a trail that was composed of an intentionally sprayed substance, as opposed to the relatively small incidental nature of the moisture in a contral.

This is a nice "gee whiz" patent, but I don't think that it has any current military application. If you notice, the patent states that around 12% of the weight of the jet fuel is the right amount of the alcohol solution to add to the exhaust. Also, the patent states that the solution should be added to the hot jet exhaust, not into the fuel for combustion. This would require a completely different system of tanks, pumps, and sprayers to perform the task of supressing contrails. And this doesn't take into account the addition of 1,400 pounds of solution to the 11,600 pounds of gas, 4,200 pounds of bombs, 900 pounds of missiles, 200 pounds of bullets, and 1500 pounds of exterior pods and such that I carry on board, anyway. More solution and weight=less payload.

I like the idea of supressing contrails to keep the bad guy from seeing military aircraft during a war, but there is a much simpler and less costly solution already in place: Don't fly at altitudes where contrails form behind your jet! Change your altitude if you are conning until you aren't conning anymore.

This system could be a reasonable addition to an unmanned or solo-type aircraft where there is no wingman flying nearby to tell when you are conning. I just don't see it being used on aircraft that normally fly at conning altitudes over enemy territory like F-15s and F-16s because of the extensive modifications required and other reasons already discussed. This is also precisely why I don't see a civilian application for this, either. Does it increase safety or decrease operating costs? Nope. Airlines won't go for it because they aren't required to do it and it won't save them any money.

This patent also does nothing to inhibit the formation of aerodynamically-induced contrails, something that happens quite often when military aircraft maneuver at altitude.
