So here is a present for all of the good little test subjects that have behaved well.

And TGIF too...

This is one on the stranger patents I've seen, good find RTW, very interesting!

quote:

Method of simulating the presence of clouds in a scene

Applicant(s): The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Army, Washington, D

The present invention discloses a method of incorporating at least one copy of a real a cloud into a simulated or real two-dimensional scene by extracting the radiance and transmittance from a real cloud; converting the radiance and transmittance of the cloud to the radiance and transmittance of a desired material such as brass, aluminum, copper, or graphite; adding at least one copy of the resulting cloud to the simulated two-dimensional scene; and scaling each cloud in the simulated two-dimensional scene so that each cloud appears at a desired location.

Thanks Thermit.....Enjoy your weekend playing under the holoclouds, but don't get sick. As I mentioned in a previous post, they really do need to get the color of their clouds corrected. Too much yellow tint!

RTW, Those clouds here in Louisiana today and especially yesterday, (with chems being spewed over top of them), were disgusting to look at. Without sunglasses on, the colors weren't as evident, but with sunglasses on, could really distinguish the "ugly, oily" colors to them with some other clouds actually dispersing and floating all the way to the ground...dirty, particulate looking, thinned-out sprays or mists! It was awful!!! Today, heavy, dirty, dark clouds and chems up above...could see them being made whenever a small piece of sky would show through a small "break" in the clouds. From yesterday and today, was outside a lot, had to be, and now feeling like my bones and muscles are falling apart and/or gonna rip right out of me...not a good day and feel low too. I really think the chems can affect our moods and behavior sometimes...I better grab an ice-bag and hit the sack...Don't wanna ruin any one elses Friday...just one of those days. I'll grab the ice-bag and husband won't wanna grab this ole bag as he feels a little gross himself. We love to be outside, fish, ride dirt bikes and stuff and it's hard to stay in yet chems out everyday here anymore...what the hay...Blessings and have a great week-end to all, Joanne

Thanks Thermit...I just think it is important for the newbies to read this as well as remind ourselves.Things in the sky look 2D for a reason.....The patent for making clouds in a scene...What next?

I can understand the need for a patent of this technique, but it doesn't make much sense for the actual use, of using it. The terrain maps took a long time to make taking each shot without clouds...now they need to put them back in? With all the radar and satellites we have, why would we need this? Could it be used for deceiving an 'enemy'? Or to keep actual images from the public? To create false weather 'proof'?

To take an image of a cloud and simulated it on a real two-dimensional scene is making a picture look the way you want it. Will digital television someday have the same ability?

Is it real or is it Memorex?

Christy

Thanks guys. I hadn't seen this before. So theoretically, you could transmit a picture of just about anything, I would imagine....

Clouds, planes, orbs,... ever watch a sprayplane simply 'vanish'? Not a sight you soon forget.

Now if I has an emotional need to disbelieve my own eyes and retreat into denial, This is how I'd do it.

I wonder if Prism11 saw this...?

Hmmm. Might not be a bad idea to start archiving some of these in a patents thread over at the Science forum.

I wonder if 3T3 would mind?
