Air Force Sprays to redirect Isabel!!!!!

Recently I was down in Charleston, SC where only one week ago Isabel was lined up for a direct hit for Charleston. Today it will strike well north of Charleston sparing Charleston. I was involved in a tense D&D game at 4am and noticed the sprayers taking flight from Charleston Air Force Base. All day they left trails over the city and out over the ocean.
These sprayers are big 4 engine planes that can ommit a lot of trails.
A little over 10 years ago Hugo almost destroyed the city. Just a few years later these sprayers were stationed in Charleston. The city has yet to be hit by a hurricane. |

yeah I bet that is news to them too, that they have never been hit by a hurricane.
So now the C-17s have been configured into spray planes huh? |

How many spray planes do you think were used?
Edit to add: What density of coverage did the spray planes?

I saw at least 6 aircraft on the morning they started spraying. I believe the spray aircraft are C-17's. They have about 30 C-17's based in Charleston. I have spoken with others in the Charleston area who tell me these aircraft are constantly flying and spraying. There is almost always one of these aircraft in the airspace over Charleston and the surrounding areas. I am trying to learn more about the Air Forces spraying operations in this area. If anyone has any info please post it. |

So a fleet of 30 aircraft sprayed an area the size of say Virginia? Must be a tuff chemical.
Now tell me how those chemicals changed the steering winds that altered the storm track.
And when did they start spraying since most of the computer models pretty much pegged the storm track a week before land fall?

I don't know when it started.... I am trying to find out the answers.
It really worries me the amount of spraying in this ecological gem. There is an interesting pattern in todays sky.
What are the patterns looking like over the Eastern shores where Isable struck? |

So the AF uses their most modern, highest tech, best airlift aircraft to just spray Charleston? Wouldnt they have a few better uses for it than that? They need more of those plane and are thinking about ordering more, just because they are short of those for existing airlift missions
Can you show us some photos of C-17s doing spray runs over the city? |

I'd just like someone to please explain the physics of how 30 planes spraying (something/anything) can change the course something as big as a hurricane. I mean the cloud seeders around here sometimes send several planes to a single thunderstorm and it still moves with the steering winds.

That dynomat company makes a gel thats supposed to soak up moisture but I don't think man will ever be able to harness a hurricane, no never. |

Hey dude...
Your football game is waiting for you.
Go munch on some MSG and drink some aspartame and soak in those TV waves..
But judging by your last post it's somthing you are used to doing anyway.
Yall' is a Bush worshipper it's plain to see.
Yall should try a different forum more suited to your mentallity.
I suggest any mindless sports trivia site or perhaps mabye..even better..pub31 at www.ezboard.com
You will fit right in..."yall".
