Same thing for Christy's new board, no topics. I guess I could try Netscape...

You obviously post a long text message, that may crash your message data.

Long text messages dissapear? Nice.
And check out this exchange when I enquired about Aimmo spamming my board..

Conker, I didn't come here to defend network54, but the laundry list of complaints you have are completely untrue. First you claim that there are NO admin or mod options(?!?). Then you state the the mod features are 'highly annoying'.
Which is it? Non-existant or highly annoying?
Well they exist and they are at least as flexible as Aimoo. I even have the option of deleting spam from my forum! Hardly annoying.
Believe me, Network54 is far from perfect. And I didn't get paid to come here and post disinformation. I am making an honest attempt at addressing issues and gathering information.
To answer you're question, Anakin, the network54 servers appeared to have problems with handling a high traffic forum.A traffic increased, my dial-up users complained of slow load times and browser lock-ups. So I thought I'd try a different service.
Aimoo has addressed the problem of my disappearing threads and told me that 'long text messages' had a tendency to vanish. Check the other thread and see for yourself. This is obviously an enormous problem for a larger board and one that should be rectified.
So perhaps we've all learned something. If an important thread simply disappears from your board, at least you'll know why.
Will I stay? Probably not. Do you care? Probably not.
But I'm going to give some advice to the folks out there reading this and contemplating making a decision on what solution to use when selecting a forum provider.
If you've got a small user base that doesn't get caught up in long threads, say over 40 replies, and you don't mind the spam or are willing to pay $60 a year to avoid it, then Aimoo may work fine for you. It certainly has a lot of features.
If you have a larger user base and longer threads, use another service. Network54 has worked beautifully for me, but dial-up users may encounter long load times.
If you are serious about your website and your forum, pay UBB the $199 licensing fee, install it and reap the benefits of having control over your forum. Most of these services have fallen on hard times since the bottom fell out of internet advertising and many are going belly-up. Building a strong user base and having to transfer them to a different service is an absolute nightmare. I wish I had ponied up in the first place, believe me.
Good luck,
Chem
