'Revelation and the number Seven'

For those of us who search the Scriptures, looking for "Truth."
I'll start out with a list of the sevens found in the book of Revelation. Most of these are easy to see because they actually say , "Seven."
Seven Churches-1:4,11,& 20
Seven Golden Lampstands,(candlesticks),-1:12,13,20;&2:1
Seven Spirits-1:4;3:1;4:5;&5:6
Seven Stars-1:16,20;2:1;&3:1
Seven Lamps-4:5
Seven Recognitions by Christ. These are not as easily seen, and take a little more serious study. These types of sevens are everywhere in the Bible, and the more you study, the more you see, that these "66" books, penned by more than "40" authors, are here by Supernatural Design!
Revelation 2:2-(1)I know thy works,(2)and thy labor,(3)and thy patience,(4)and how thou canst not bear them which are evil,(5)and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: verse 3-(6)And hast borne, and hast patience,(7)and for my name's sake hast laboured, and not fainted.
Notice how "Patience" twice mentioned?
Do you see that it is once after labor, and once before? How many of us have so little patience in our labor? Every day.......
Next on our list of Seven's.......
Seven promises to the Overcomer.......
1)Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
2)Rev. 2:10-Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
3)Rev. 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
4)Rev. 2:17-He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
5)Rev. 2:26-And he that overcometh,and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:(2:27)-And he shall rule with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
6)Rev. 3:5-He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment;and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.
7)Rev. 3:12-Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
There are a few more of these types of seven's later on, or maybe some of you can bring them to the surface? (Jersey?)

From the Seven days of Creation to the Seven Seals of Revelation, Scripture is saturated with the Number Seven. Just listing all the occurrences would take several pages. Essentially all biblical scholars, regardless of their stance with respect to the meaning of numbers in Scripture, have recognized the special symbolic use of this Number. It is simply impossible to miss.
The discovery of the symmetric sevenfold Canon Wheel and its corresponding representation in the form of the Menorah is like a capstone to the study of the Number Seven in Scripture. We now can see this number emerging from all levels of the Biblical revelation. It is found in the microstructure of the text (e.g. the seven words and 28 letters of Genesis 1.1), in the plain message of the text (as mentioned above) and now with the advent of the Canon Wheel we see it shine in the largescale structure of the entire Bible. The question now is this:
Why did God do this? What is the meaning of the Number Seven? Why did He indelibly mark his Word with this Number?
Hebrew Sheva

German Sieben
Old Saxon Sebun
Sanskrit Sapta
Latin Septem
Greek Hepta
The answers to these questions yield great insight into the Mind of God, His Wisdom, and the Promise revealed in His Holy Word. I begin with the meaning of the Hebrew word for seven, (Sheva), and roots that are closely related to it. This word is often transliterated as Sheba, with a hard Bet (b), but as far as I can tell, the soft Bet (v) is more accurate. The sidebar compares the word for Seven in various languages. Note that words with both the hard Bet (b) and soft Bet (v) appear in the list. The phonetic resemblance is striking, especially since there is a strong similarity between the Hebrew and Sanskrit which are supposedly independent language groups.
Sheva is closely related to two other triliteral roots spelt with the same three consonants that differ only in vowel points. Thus, there are three Hebrew roots that look identical. Here are three representative entries from Strong's Concordance:
Strong's # Meaning
S# 7646 saba: satisfy, fill, full, plenty, satiate
S# 7650 shaba: sware, charge, oath
S# 7651 sheba: seven
The triliteral root (Shin - Bet - Ayin) therefore carries three fundamental meanings:
1) Seven
2) Full/Complete
3) Oath/Sware.
These three ideas are found associated throughout the Bible. For example, the reason for seven angels with seven final plagues is explained in terms of fullness in Revelation 15.1:
And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
Thus we have one very obvious answer to our question:
God marked the Bible with the Number Seven because it is the fulness of God's revelation!

How interesting Kevin! I didnt realize there were seven promises in Revelation! Sorry I didnt get to this sooner! I went back and copied all my Revelation & Seven comments from our other threads. I just shifted it around so it reads easier in this post. I wanted it here so it can all be together again. As in 7 = Completion in Physical Reality heh, heh. LOL!
All this should give meaning to the expression Seventh Heaven!
The numerological evaluation system AND universal symbolic interpretations that I live by are based on the 22 Chapters of the Book of Revelation. The themes of the 22 chapters is what assigns an evaluation to the numerological system. To give some of the BASICS:
1 = New beginning in eternal now
2 = Duality (for every positive there is a negative)
3 = Perfection in Creation
4 = Elements of Physical Reality
5 = Christ Mind
6 = Physical Balance
7 = Completion in Physical Reality
8 = Abundance, Timelessness
9 = 9 Aspects of Mind of God, Completion of Series of Cycles
10 = God Mind, Last Stage
11 = Merger, Unification
12 = 12 Rays of the Mind of God
13 = Completion of Physical Reality (13 is NOT unlucky!!! They want us to fear this number!)
14 = God Mind in Physical Reality
15 = Completion of Physical Balance
16 = God Mind in Physical Balance
17 = God Mind in Completion (Physical Reality)
18 = God Mind in Timelessness
19 = God Mind in Completion
20 = Going Back to Beginning, Cleansing Out Beginning
21 = New Beginning of DNA and Perfection
22 = Transition of Physical Reality
The numerological interpretation of 7 = Completion and Perfection in Physical Reality. These 7 Levels coincide with the 7 Churches in the Book of Revelation. There are many symbolic aspects attributed to these levels, but I will list ONLY the very basic ones.
Ephesus = Physical Body = Earth = Red Chakra
Smyrna = Emotional Body = Fire = Orange Chakra
Pergamum = Mental Body = Air = Yellow Chakra
Thyatira = Etheric Body = Water = Green Chakra
Sardis = Causal Body = Space = Ice Blue Chakra
Philadelphia = Light Body = Time = Royal Blue Chakra
Laodicea = Soul Body = Salvation = Violet Chakra
If you take the 22 Chapters of the Book of Revelation and divide them by the 7 Levels of Physical Reality, you get Pi (22 divided by 7 = 3.14). The Greek letter Pi stands for the power of intelligence. There is so much more numerological symbolism in the Book of Revelation, but that is another subject in itself.
Seven appears 54 times in the Book of Revelation. 5 + 4 = 9. Interesting how 9 is the only chapter in Revelation that does not have a title. 9 represents a completion of a series of cycles within the Aspects of God Mind. Although you could technically say that there are 10 aspects of God Mind because 10 is the final stage and it encompasses the previous aspects (God = no beginning, no end). So, 9 represents the completion of a series of cycles whereas 10 encompasses the cycles = last stage, God Mind.
Depending on the Bible version one reads, some of the sevens in Revelation might read differently i.e. mountains might be hills. This list shows each time a particular seven appears. I always liked the fact that the last new seven to be introduced was KINGS. How appropriate! (I corrected the few typos I had in my original list).
Seven Churches - 1:4 1:11 1:20 (2X) = 4 times
Seven Spirits - 1:4 3:1 4:5 5:6 = 4 times
Seven Golden Lampstands - 1:12 1:20 (2X) 2:1 = 4 times
Seven Stars - 1:16 1:20 (2X) 2:1 3:1 = 5 times
Seven Lamps - 4:5 = 1 time
Seven Seals - 5:1 5:5 6:1 = 3 times
Seven Horns - 5:6 = 1 time
Seven Eyes - 5:6 = 1 time
Seven Angels - 8:2 8:6 15:1 15:6 15:7 15:8 16:1 17:1 - 21:9 = 9 times
Seven Trumpets - 8:2 8:6 = 2 times
Seven Peals of Thunder - 10:3 10:4 (2X) = 3 times
Seven Heads - 12:3 13:1 17:3 17:7 17:9 = 5 times
Seven Diadems (or Crowns) - 12:3 = 1 time
Seven Plagues - 15:1 15:6 15:8 21:9 = 4 times
Seven Golden Bowls - 15:7 16:1 17:1 21:9 = 4 times
Seven Mountains - 17:9 = 1 time
Seven Kings - 17:10 = 1 time
One of the Seven, is an Eighth (beast) - 17:11 = 1 time
There is also a reference to Seven (Thousand) People in Revelation 11:13, but that is not included in the numerological evaluation since it is of a different factor.

Even though I believe the fear factor is being used and events are being manipulated to portray that the end is coming, I found this informative nonetheless. BTW, this does not mean I do not believe some prophecies will be fulfilled according to natural design.

The Purpose For This Index
The Rapture Index has two functions: one is to factor together a number of related end time components into a cohesive indicator, and the other is to standardize those components to eliminate the wide variance that currently exists with prophecy reporting.
The Rapture Index is by no means meant to predict the rapture, however, the index is designed to measure the type of activity that could act as a precursor to the rapture.
You could say the Rapture index is a Dow Jones Industrial Average of end time activity, but I think it would be better if you viewed it as prophetic speedometer. The higher the number, the faster we're moving towards the occurrence of pre-tribulation rapture.
Rapture Index of 85 and Below: Slow prophetic activity
Rapture Index of 85 to 110: Moderate prophetic activity
Rapture Index of 110 to 145: Heavy prophetic activity
Rapture Index above 145: Fasten your seat belt

emfx, how come you didn't write the "7" words?
Gen.1:1; In the beginnig Elohim created the heavens and the earth.
Kee reyshiyth Elohim barah shameh kee erets.
These are the only words that I could come up with that equaled "7".
The hebrew letters only equal 23, so I can't figure it out, can you please follw up. Also, you may be abe to actually write the letters and scan them, I don't know what kind of comp. access. you have. It's great to see that others on this site are on track, and seeking truth.

I went over yor list of "7's" . You missed a lampstand in 1:13. Guess what, I have a Bible called the "Sacred Scriptures" and I noticed that "seven" was not in 6:1 for seals, or 16:1 for bowls,(vials in KJV), in the King James. So there are "50"-"7's" & "5"-"7ths" equaling "55". |

I can not believe I left an "n" out of beginning in, "In the beginning." If I were a scribe I would have lost my job and been cast out of the Temple!
Back to this "55". Oh yeah, here is another good example of the Bible polluted, this time in the form of editing! Usually I catch these things on my own, but then again that just goes to show you, I never catch these things on my own! "55" makes more sense to me because of the "11" factor. I haven't read your link yet Jersey, but my life has been filled with "11's". My first son, Joshua was born at "11:11" I could write a list that would take pages! I heard once before that there was an entire religion devoted to the number "11". I just never looked into it. I don't know why I didn't look into it, I may have been afraid of the results. I don't understand why you eliminated the "7" thousand from the whole scheme. It seems to me that they're very important. Enoch and Elias come back,(or some scholars say, Mosheh and Elias, because of the miracles that they work), and, Rev. 11:13-And in that hour there was a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell; and there were killed in that earthquake seven thousand persons: and the rest were terrified, and gave glory to the Elohim of heaven. This seven thousand persons was not an exact number of persons, but again this was a number of completion. You guys know that these people were being tortured mentally! ues!!!Not just having their rain taken away, or their rivers turned to blood, or being killed with fire, and let's not forget the other ten plag They were SO GLAD to see them dead,(thanks to their saviour), that they were giving gifts to one another! They left their bodies in the street and danced around! Notice how I'm putting everything in past tense? That's because I'm not gonna be here! I'm a pre-Trib Man. We can get into that on a whole other topic, but here's a spark; Rev.4:1-meta tauta, the here after. The here after, you have got to think about that one.

Boy do I hear that!,
I had a little break tonight at 7:30pm est. I went to see my oldest daughter, April, in her middle school play. She played the Vampire Duchess, in, "The Canterville Ghost." Heres the little Billing they gave her...Freshman April Parsons (The Vampire Duchess) has been looking forward to working with the Schuylkill Haven Masquers, and we're all happy to have her as a member. April recommends the drama club for any one who likes having fun....anyway it was good for me and now I'm back....I'm so glad you have an open mind. Besides the "7" Promises, there are also tose "7" Recognitions to consider also. Maybe while you do that I can try to dip into some of the material that you gave me to look at.

It was her High School play, they just held it at the middle school. I have a question for you ,Jersey,(2 parts). a)- NIV? b)- Whatever Bible you read, in Rev. 1:11, does the verse start with;"Saying, I am, Alpha and Omega, the first and the last:"...?
