Powell Jeered at Development Summit
Johannesburg Accord Passes; Activists Say U.S. Watered It Down
key paragraph:
"The United States is taking action to meet environmental challenges, including global climate change, not just rhetoric," Powell said as the protesters erupted in more boos and the police removed about a dozen. "We are committed to a multibillion-dollar program to develop and deploy advanced technologies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions."
So where are those intrepid reporters of the American "free" press asking questions as to just what this MITIGATION program is? They probably couldn't get the clearance of their handlers.
Could this multi-billions dollar commitment be the whitening of our skies with atmospheric aerosols? It certainly isn't through a reduction in the emission of greenhouse gases.
Don't bother to ask about the health consequences.
But it does seem to me that you are allowed to ask just where that money is going...it is your tax dollars.
Of the people, by the people, for the people. |

Well, maybe one can still ask, but.....

Overview of Changes to Legal Rights
Some of the fundamental changes to Americans' legal rights by the Bush administration and the USA Patriot Act following the terror attacks:
* FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION: Government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigation.
.....it's questionable at this point how far they will get, now that the following little modification has been made to the Bill of Rights:
* FREEDOM OF INFORMATION: Government has closed once-public immigration hearings, has secretly detained hundreds of people without charges, and has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records requests.
....."has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records requests."..... And not a minute too soon, it sure does appear.
* FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone that the government subpoenaed information related to a terror investigation.
* RIGHT TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION: Government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between attorneys and clients, and deny lawyers to Americans accused of crimes.
* FREEDOM FROM UNREASONABLE SEARCHES: Government may search and seize Americans' papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation.
* RIGHT TO A SPEEDY AND PUBLIC TRIAL: Government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial.
* RIGHT TO LIBERTY: Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them.

I wish I had that on tape. Once the hecklers and boos started, did you notice his reaction? Man, I thought he was going to pass out. The nervous reaction during and after he made above statement was so sudden and lasted pretty much the rest of way through. If anyone has the means ,it would be well worth watching that again. I don't think he's quite cozy with bushgangs agenda, and speaking with a forked tongue is definately not on his list of skills. Like to hear some takes on what posters think about old powell, I used to think he was an honorable man, don't know what to think of him now. But from that latest nervous nilly display he appears to be a man trapped into doing the devils bidding. Any thoughts?

I would tend to agree with that at this time, based on my own observations. In fact, I'm betting that Powell will remove himself from his current position as soon as he considers it possible to do so gracefully.
