World wants Bush out: poll
The world wants United States President George W Bush out of the White House, according to a poll that shows in 30 of 35 countries people preferred Democrat candidate John Kerry.
Senator Kerry was particularly favoured in traditionally strong US allies.
He beat Mr Bush on average by more than a two-to-one margin, 46 per cent to 20 per cent, according to the survey by GlobeScan, a global research firm.
The survey of attitudes around the world contrasts with US polls that have shown the American electorate closely divided.
Polls in America also show that Mr Bush has been gaining momentum since the Republican convention this month.
Mr Bush launched a US-led invasion of Iraq last year over the objections of many governments, including allies, and the first US pre-emptive war angered many people around the world.
Senator Kerry has said he will pursue stronger international alliances if he wins the presidency.
"Only one in five want to see Bush re-elected," Steven Kull, director of the university's program on international policy attitudes, said.
"Though he is not as well known, Kerry would win handily if the people of the world were to elect the US president."
The only countries where Mr Bush was preferred in the poll of 34,330 people that was conducted mainly in July and August were the Philippines, Nigeria and Poland.
India and Thailand were divided.
The survey's margin of error was plus or minus 2.3 to 5 percentage points.

One reason could be that Bush would love to invade these oil rich countries (Iran, Nigeria, Libya, Venuzuela, Saudi Arabia, Russia), and cut out the middle man. Selling Oil at $35 would be a bigger profit if US-based oil companies didn't have to deal with the leaders of those countries. |

i put this poll on another message board and got bashed by all the "bushies". first there were moonies now we have "bushies" . but they just can't accept the world does not like bush, all they want is stability in their countries and as long as bush and his bushies are in office this world will never see stability. |
