That thread is about the House passing it on Tuesday. I'm talking about now the Senate passing it on Wednesday. Bush has to sign it now and it's all over.

May they all burn in hell PostThu Dec 09, 2004 1:02 am  Reply with quote

What a bunch of spineless whores. Sens. Robert Byrd, D-W. Va., and James Inhofe, R-Okla., voted against the bill, with Byrd saying that it was folly to expect a law to make America safer from foreign terrorists.

"No legislation alone can forestall a terrorist attack on our nation," Byrd said.

These political prostitutes should all be recalled, and or, impeached. They have sworn an oath to protect the Constitution and decided $$$$ is more important. Lock and load. Don't shoot till ya see the white in their eyes.More like bloodshot eyes. They'll be knocking or kicking in our doors soon. We're not in Kansas any more Toto. The red list or the blue list, coming to a Fema Camp near you.And soon. The s!@# flows downhill theory is about to get the ultimate test. We should all head south of the border, hell that's where all the jobs are any how. Peace to Everyone. Good Luck

.......- Tom Ridge, Director of Dept. of Homeland Security, Speaking to Jay Leno on 'The Tonight Show', November 22, 2002

Leno: "So how long will this 'war on terrorism' last?"
Ridge: "It is permanent..."
'Intelligence Czar ' Sounds like an Oxymoron to me. I sure feel safer now.Only 4,000 illegals will cross into Arizona tonight.Homeland Security. My Ass.
" No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare." James Madison
"Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes. And armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended. Its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force of the people. The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war . . . and in the degeneracy of manners and morals, engendered by both. No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare."

I can hear Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, Savage, ad nausem, "Madison was a Liberal".

The media is now pushing Andrew Jackson and Howard Hughes now as "colorful" Americans. Two insane sleazeballs.

I read the bill was read by no one. Just like Patriot Act 1.

Now, we await Patriot Act 2 to completely finish off the Constitution once and for all. The Constutution has been the enemy of Tyranny, Fascism, Corporatism, and a Police State for 228 years.

What's scary / funny is that CNN.COM / MSNBC.COM when mentioning the passing of the bill only say that it "overhauls the spy agencies." WTF, no mention of National DNA databases, no mention of National ID Card etc...?

I can hear Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, Savage, ad nausem, "Madison was a Liberal". Speaking of pigboy, them Bush Bros are lookin out for Mr. Oxy Contin.

Fla. Court Gives Limbaugh Extension

The Florida Supreme Court gave Rush Limbaugh an extra month Wednesday to argue that prosecutors illegally seized his medical records as part of a probe into whether he sought multiple prescriptions for painkillers.

Florida's high court extended Limbaugh's deadline for filing his written arguments from Dec. 20 to Jan. 20, but said that date is final.

Story Continues Below

Limbaugh argues that prosecutors violated his privacy when they seized his medical records. The state 4th District Court of Appeal ruled against Limbaugh, but last month it asked the Supreme Court to consider the case.

The DCA wants the Supreme Court to decide whether patients should be notified before their medical records are seized or inspected. The high court is seeking the opinions of prosecutors and Limbaugh's attorneys before it decides whether to consider the case.

Limbaugh has maintained that the investigation is politically motivated and that he's committed no crime.

Investigators seized Limbaugh's medical records late last year after learning that the conservative radio commentator received about 2,000 painkillers, prescribed by four doctors in six months, at a pharmacy near his Palm Beach mansion.

The investigation has remained at a standstill, pending a decision on the medical records, which are sealed.

Limbaugh, who has not been charged with a crime, acknowledged an addiction to pain medication in October 2003, saying it stemmed from severe back pain. He took a five-week leave from his afternoon radio show to enter a rehab program.

the actual bill PostThu Dec 09, 2004 5:20 am  Reply with quote

has anyone got a copy of what "our" congress voted to approve?
as an "employer" of the congress, i say "you are fired"
in more ways than one, yet
i would like to acually see the text they never bothered to look at

there is something very "skanky" about congress

they say adimately that they are a "D" or an "R"

they don't even read the text
then they line up on the same side together

National ID Card and others PostThu Dec 09, 2004 6:49 pm  Reply with quote

Congressman Denounces National ID Card Sierra Times

Washington, DC- Congressman Ron Paul Wednesday denounced the national ID
card provisions contained in the intelligence bill being voted on in the
U.S. House of Representatives, while urging his colleagues to reject the
bill and its new layers of needless bureaucracy. "National ID cards are not
proper in a free society," Paul stated. "This is America, not Soviet Russia.
The federal government should never be allowed to demand papers from
American citizens, and it certainly has no constitutional authority to do
so."

"A national identification card, in whatever form it may take, will allow
the federal government to inappropriately monitor the movements and
transactions of every American," Paul continued. "History shows that
governments inevitably use such power in harmful ways. The 9-11 commission,
whose recommendations underlie this bill, has called for internal screening
points where identification will be demanded. Domestic travel restrictions
are the hallmark of authoritarian states, not free nations. It is just a
matter of time until those who refuse to carry the new licenses will be
denied the ability to drive or board an airplane."

"Nationalizing standards for drivers licenses and birth certificates, and
linking them together via a national database, creates a national ID system
pure and simple. Proponents of the national ID understand that the public
remains wary of the scheme, so they attempt to claim they're merely creating
new standards for existing state IDs. Nonsense! This legislation imposes
federal standards in a federal bill, and it creates a federalized ID
regardless of whether the ID itself is still stamped with the name of your
state."

"Those who are willing to allow the government to establish a Soviet-style
internal passport system because they think it will make us safer are
terribly mistaken," Paul concluded. "Subjecting every citizen to
surveillance and screening points actually will make us less safe, not in
the least because it will divert resources away from tracking and
apprehending terrorists and deploy them against innocent Americans! Every
conservative who believes in constitutional restraints on government should
reject the authoritarian national ID card and the nonsensical intelligence
bill itself."

CITIZENS DEMAND MEMBERS OF CONGRESS READ LEGISLATION BEFORE THEY VOTE
December 9, 2004

NewsWithViews.com
Downsize.org is a citizen activism group asking millions of Americans to
sign a petition demanding that members of Congress read any bills or
legislation before they vote on them. Much publicity was given to the fact
that few, if any, members of Congress read any part of the 2400 page NAFTA
treaty which has gutted America's agricultural, manufacturing and industrial
base.
In a much publicized challenge, only one U.S. Senator, Hank Brown [R-CO] who
retired after one term, read the entire 28,000 page GATT treaty which has
led to what many charge is the abrogation of America's sovereignty to a
world body.
There was considerable outrage when the American people found out that
members of Congress weren't even allowed to read the text of the Patriot
Act, but were told to just vote on it. A few members like Ron Paul [R-TX]
balked, but the majority went along, never read the text and voted on it
anyway. .
How many members of Congress actually read the 3,200 page, $388 billion
omnibus appropriations bill which was passed during Thanksgiving week? No
one seems to know, but once again, the latest budget passed by Congress will
be bringing home the pork. According to Taxpayers for Common Sense, below
represents 11,772 earmarks at a cost of $15,780,533,623:
