Bush Calls for Compassion on Christmas

WASHINGTON - President Bush on Saturday urged Americans to help the neediest among them by volunteering to care for the sick, the elderly and the poor in a Christmas day call for compassion.

"Many of our fellow Americans still suffer from the effects of illness or poverty, others fight cruel addictions, or cope with division in their families, or grieve the loss of a loved one," he said in his weekly radio address.
"Christmastime reminds each of us that we have a duty to our fellow citizens, that we are called to love our neighbor just as we would like to be loved ourselves," Bush added. "By volunteering our time and talents where they are needed most, we help heal the sick, comfort those who suffer, and bring hope to those who despair, one heart and one soul at a time."
On a day relaxing with his own family at Camp David, Md., Bush turned his attention to military personnel working the holiday away from theirs. Close-by, he was spending time with the Marines who protect the presidential retreat during a dinnertime visit to their mess hall, according to White House spokesman Taylor Gross.
And over the radio waves, Bush assured U.S. troops overseas that they are in the thoughts and prayers of their fellow Americans.
It was a message that has become a fixture of Bush's annual Christmas broadcasts, but one with added poignancy this year, coming days after a devastating attack on a U.S. military dining hall in Mosul, Iraq. Fourteen U.S. service members were among the 22 killed.
"In Afghanistan, Iraq, and elsewhere, these skilled and courageous Americans are fighting the enemies of freedom and protecting our country from danger," Bush said. He called 10 members of the U.S. military around the world and in the United States on Friday to thank them for their service and to share holiday greetings.
"By bringing liberty to the oppressed, our troops are helping to win the war on terror, and they are defending the freedom and security of us all," the president said. "They and their families are making many sacrifices for our nation, and for that, all Americans are deeply grateful."
Bush and his family are spending a long Christmas weekend at Camp David.
"Santa did, in fact, come by," Gross reported, adding that the president gave his wife, Laura, dessert plates that match her china set. Mrs. Bush, in turn, gave the president a raincoat.
After Bush's visit with the Marines, he was to sit down for a Christmas dinner of turkey, sweet potatoes, cranberries, gravy and pecan and pumpkin pies, Gross said.
On Sunday, Bush flies to their home in Crawford, Texas, where he is scheduled to remain until Jan. 2.
Aides say Bush's holiday vacation is true down time. After a hard year of campaigning and managing a grinding war, he intends to unwind, and will not be interviewing candidates for key Cabinet posts. The two vacant Cabinet jobs are the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Other pressing business that will face Bush in the new year include drawing up a budget and shaping his proposal to revamp Social Security.

It's good to say what you think of the stupid redneck cocaine sniffing aspartame damaged dry drunk half-wit DUMBYA.
Being involved in the arts and music, I know a lot of gay people, and I can't agree with you that all homosexuals are deviates.
Many are kind and caring people, and I know some heterosexuals that you count your fingers after you shake hands with them.
I take everyone as an individual, even poor lost souls known as Bush supporters.
Didn't know Laura Bush was a lesbian. I know she ran over a guy and killed him, and got away with it.

When i referred to homosexuals in my posting i was referring to the bad homosexuals that are used as unwitting pawns in the Nazi Illumnatis game of death. Like most Jewish people are kind and caring, there is a diseased Zionist Cabal that will lead Israel to be nuked by either Saudi Arabia or Iran, or even both. The types of homosexuals that the Bush Crime Family give jobs to are heterophobic, anti-family and hate male-female relationships. In the UK, it is well know from statements made by British Members of Parliament, that over 50% of the elected MPs are either gay or lesbian. Most of them care little for heterosexual people or husband and wife marriages. This is one good reason why relationships are so f@#$% screwed up in the UK. We have the highest rate of single parent families and girls as young as 9 are losing their 'virginity'. That is paedophilia. Pure and simple. In Fony Blairs Cabinet, there are 6 ministers who are either gays or paedophiles. Anyway, changing the subject. Tony Blair announced on British TV the other day, that we should all be grateful that he and the Chief Redneck have brought 'democracy' to Iraq. They reckon the deathtoll from all these earthquakes in South Asia and Southeast Asia will reach over 200,000 fatalities. BBC News and Talksport Radio have announced that thousands of Australians and New Zealanders are missing as well as the hundreds of thousands of Sri Lankans, Indians, Indonesians, Malaysians, Singaporeans, Sumatrans and Burmese. OK, I agree that sex with 9 years old, either straight or gay, is not right. Here in the US, most of the perverted priests are heterosexual, so there is no qualitative statement that would encompass perverts, and whether they are straight or gay. The divorce rate amongst Born-Again Christians is much higher than atheists, long term gay relationships, and agnostics. In fact, there are sites dedicated to Christian Porn!!! There is one when Jesus and Mary Magdeline take on more positions than a Kama Sutra Demonstration catalog, but at the end, he renounces what he did, and he is saved.
