What would this be? (Black Line)

I posted a new photo in the New Image Database (the NID  ). It is called "Frontal Beam..." something or other. What is it? Three jets were chemming here next to each other and this middle one shoots out this dark line from it's front. Not back and not a shadow from another trail. I saw it clearly with my eyes and snapped a photo or two and enhanced it a littlke to bring out detail. The trail and surrounding ones are large and spreading and I have those shots as well. Some beam to check what? Any ideas? Does this happen with commercial traffic?

I put 2 photos in the database: one is the trail made by the dark beam jet and one is the photo shown here untouched (as I adjusted it for easy viewing on first post).
The dark beam jet is making the middle trail in the submitted photo. |

here's a photo of a "shadow" that you can see in front of the plane as well as beside it...
give it time to load it's large...also if you are operating behind a firewall you will not be able to see it, I have to disable mine to view any pictures (homespun) at my site (yahoo)....

eyesopen, You do fabulous work there,...really great photos and videos, and info. that you have done and found from Raven also. TS, got it that time. What do you think is up with that? Same thing as what I captured? Why would a dark beam be in front of a plane while it is flying? Seems a tad unusual. |

eyes, those black lines are just shadows of the trails on the cloud deck above...I have a pic somewhere of a shadow that looks like it is a beam cutting through a cloud...
joanne, I think chem is attending a convention on "getting in touch with your feminine side".....
me, I just been watching the clouds go by today...
