Letters to the Editor
Dear sirs:
As foul as it is to engage in the underhanded and malignant, it is just as corrupt to be aware of them and not acknowledge it.
It has been announced that the govenrment has given United Airlines permission to completely void its four major pension plans for its employees, essentially cutting their entire work force off without any savings. The government has agreed to take up the slack for a large part of their benefits, that is, they agreed to rape the taxpayers even more, to make up for the portions of United employees' earnings that the CEO's appear to have stolen, and that the government doesn't intend to make them give back!
This is part of an overall pattern of major companies, such as US Airways, also, being given immense bankruptcy leverage and protection by the government! US Airways was also relieved of any obligation to follow through on its contracts to its employees to provide them their own money! This in the day of the Senate, Republicans and Democrats, all but unanimously voting, in their evident quisling way, to pass laws making it more difficult for members of the "rank and file" to declare bankruptcy! Presumably because that places a strain on the tax coffers!
Expanding the evident insult against intelligence, and decency, it is reported that other airlines, seeing the deals that the administration has cut United and US Airways, are declaring that they cannot effectively compete, if they aren't also provided the same breaks. If a private individual declared the need to be provided the same assistance that government provides big business, government would laugh in their face!
And just try to find the kind of solace from government, if you try to weasel out of a contract with big business, that big business finds when they try to weasel out of their contract with you!
This seems yet another in an ever expanding list of instances demonstrating a pernicious double standard in the running of what passes for a civilization in the United States. Namely that big business and the rich can, basically, do anything they want, while the "rank and file" are constantly hobbled with rules. And a large degree of the burden placed on the "rank and file" seems to be intended to make up for the damage caused by rich and influential being allowed to do anything they wish! There are two systems of rules in the United States, one built around the principle that the wealthy and powerful are allowed to do whatever they want, and another around the principle that the "rank and file" have to be ruthlessly exploited like "beasts of burden", so the rich and influential can have universal carte blanche!
It has recently been demonstrated that certain video games, like "Grand Theft Auto" have a propensity for instilling homicidal tendencies in certain individuals. At least to break down certain systems of foresight and insight that would lead them to think twice before taking someone else's life. The connection between the game and certain violent crimes seems unmistakable. Yet the government refuses to act! They have to do a "study"! That is evidently because the company that makes the video game, and other games that apparently figured highly in such things as the Columbine shootings, Take 2 Interactive, makes a lot of money! They even have a place on the Wall Street ticker! If a private citizen, by whatever way, shape or form demonstrated the ability to aggravate violence in others, even to a lesser degree than "Grand Theft Auto", the govenrment wouldn't ask any question; they would apparently just ship the person out of the country against their will! "For the good of the nation"!
But big companies being allowed to do whatever they want - to continue operation, even if they pose a threat to society - is apparently defined by governmewnt to be even more "in the interests of the nation"! Apparently defining the depraved changling concept that the "free market" has become to be the of-all-and-be-all of the United States, government conveniently asserts that putting even the slightest regulation on corrupt corporate machinations would be to "endanger what America is supposed to be about"! Their evidently perverted version of the "meaning of America" makes promoting big business' "right to make a profit" more important than preserving the liberties and protections of the public! Big business continuing and making an obscene profit for their criminal bosses is, evidently, the sole reason that politicians see for the existence of the United States! The purpose of the U.S. is only to provide the uncontrolled atmosphere of wanton corporate control of taxpayer money, and an evidently quisling Armed Forces, to make more and more money for the CEO's! Big business must survive, and profit, and whatever it takes to guarantee that, government is evidently more than unethically prepared to do! Protecting corrupt corporate/government plots to commit international criminality is so important to Washington, in fact, that they willingly demonstrate overt and bald-faced hypocrisy in enfranchising them!
Today, May 11, 2005, for example, a pilot was taken into custody for flying apparently innocently and accidentally inside Washington, D.C. airspace. Rules against creating even the potential for a threat to the Oval Office are strictly maintained. Yet, for a decade, the United States willfully, and apparently illegally, violated the sovereign rights of Iraqi airspace, by patrolling the skies in the extreme north and south of the country, shooting down any native Iraqi planes that ventured in that area! Apparently, the administrations were working to protect al Qaeda chemical warfare labs, that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld admits were working in the north of Iraq, from being shut down by Saddam Hussein! While the airplane was over Washington, employees and politicians could be seen scurrying indiscriminately back and forth, looking for protection, the sheer ignominy not being lost on many commentators. The "irony" that was touted was that of the "greatest nation on the earth", what is incessantly represented as "the last superpower", running in fright from an innocent Cessna two-seater! But there is a lesson here. The conniving and corrupt are always timid and skittish, even in the face of a nonexistent threat! Part of the reason is their evident psychotically overarching feeling of self-absorption, placing their personal interest above any other concern in the universe! The other reason is the apparent realization in all that they have grievously assaulted God's plan, and offended God, Himself, and they always walk around with the feeling of a hunted individual, wondering when the Almighty will exact His righteous vengeance against their malignance!
The emphasis on "security" in the United States, today, seems less a response to "terrorism" - if it even exists as the administration paints it! - and more the determination by an inherently corrupt and criminal political structure to try to avoid God's anger for what seems a century or more of wanton international criminality, in the name of greed! When you think of those who promote the evident fiction of the "war on terrorism", think instead, it appears, of a criminal coward terrified of one day being taken to task by The Lord for their corporate/political abominations!
And they seem to have no compunctions about increasing the size of the list of their offenses against the law of God! The CEO's of United and US Airlines apparently absconded with tens of millions, if not billions, of dollars of corporate funds, yet the government is apparently doing nothing to pursue those funds, and order them restored to their workers! Instead, they are telling the workers, "Too bad! You were stupid enough to believe that the government could be counted on to make big business toe the line! Now, ya gotta pay! We'll throw you something, but not what you deserve! We're not gonna give ya yer own money! Whaddya think, we're stupid? We're not dummies, like you! We know how the game is played! We play the game! Pieces of crap like you, you're just the game pieces! Y'think we're gonna give a second thought about what happens to you? We use trash like you for toilet paper! We're not gonna take the money out of our noses to see to it that you get what you're owed by law! The law is only for those who own it! Don't forget that! We'll give you what we don't need to pay for our heroin and whores, but don't even think about asking for more than that! Remember, you're here to make life better for us! Not the other way around!"
Don't expect anything like the government putting the CEO's of the airlines on the stand, and making them make good for the money they evidently stole! A lot of that money, remember, is apparently in the pocket of every Senator, Congressman, Supreme Court Judge and member of the administration! For them to reveal what they did with all the money they apparently robbed would mean listing every politico that they bribed to facilitate their raping society! And that, the politicians, it appears, would take great pains to avoid doing!
Nor should the public expect anything as paltry as "voting the rats out of office” to necessarily do any good! Because the rats always seem to be replaced by new rats! And that is evidently because all politicians are criminals, continually engaged in active corrupt machinations to rape the public, and enrich the already obscenely wealthy! A reason for this seems to be the very nature of the political system of the country, itself! There seems no hope for anything even remotely resembling ethics and the rights of the “rank and file” until an entirely new system of government is instituted!
Part of this new system will be a critically diminished power to politicians! Most, if not all, decisions will be enacted by public mandate alone! No money will be allowed to be funneled to anyone even remotely associated with any politico at any level of government, local to federal. Lobbying would be outlawed! Politicians would not be allowed to make more than $50,000 total per year! And, once out of office, will be prohibited by law from trading on contacts from when they were in office! And, instead of making the “rank and file” their personal piggy bank, big business will be forced to pay each and every man, woman and child in the country, each year, for the right to remain in operation!
Until govenrment shows anything near the ethicality that they are paid to demonstrate, the people must take the responsibility for decency in this country!
They must flood editors’ desks at magazines, newspapers, and radio and television media with letters demanding to be informed about the criminality that government evidently perpetually commits!
They must deluge politicians, from town councils, to mayors, to governors, to Congressmen, to the President, to let them know that the public are aware that government seems to be capable of nothing but crime!
Most important, though, the people must involve themselves, deeply and determinedly, in the workings of government, so that they will always be ready to condemn every instance of corruption in office, whenever it occurs!
