I think the problem is literal posting of Biblical Scripture. I don't mind talking about the Bible, as long as it is in Scientific, Technical, or Historical, terms.
I think you should calm down about everyone other than Christians being devil worshippers. That's a little extreme. For instance, I am a long term herbivore. When people take issue with it, I give heath, environmental, and moral information connected with it. I can back up my belief system with hard data...and lots of it. The problem with trying to relate scripture is there is no baseline on which to compare it to. If there is data showing being a Christian helps the human race more than say, Hinduism or Paganism, I would be curious to read it. But just saying we're all damned is a bit emotional.
I'm just saying this because I understand what it is to try and relate something that means a lot to you, and people don't want to hear it. I also know that REAL Christians are the target of the Neo-Cons. People will look at all these "Born-Again" Christians like Bush Jr, Bush Sr, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Rove, ad nauseum, and it gives all Christians a bad name. Then, the concept of The Prince of Peace is tainted, and the population thus will dislike what Jesus the Essene was saying. It was like tying in the Hippy Movement to Charles Manson. It's all propaganda to make Peace and Anti-War people look bad.

ssallen, I suggest the next step in your path to enlightenment should begin with a serious study of the Albigensian Crusade. You know that great Hollywood line, "Kill em all, God will sort em out?" That didn't originate with Ahnold the Terminator, it originated with Abbot Arnold of Citeaux. The reference is to a question on how to prevent the accidental killing of Christians living peacefully amongst the Cathars when the order was given to slaughter every Cathar man, woman & child in the entire region.
You are intellegent enough to find your way to places like this and see that all is not what it seems in your world and that people in authority may be abusing their power with consequences to you and people you care about. By extension, is it so difficult to consider the possibility that you have been spiritually manipulated by history's first Crowd Control manual. the New Testament?
I suggest you read the Apocrypha and the Nag Hammadi texts. I suggest you reasearch the Essenes and the Cathars. Peripherally, I also suggest researching the begining of the Indian Caste system, and how an entire continent was conquered by a small group of Iranian horsemen. Ponder the dubious connection that was indoctrinated in the Indian people that if the struck out at the foriegn upper castes they would be reincarnated as worms & insects. Playing on someone's natural fear & uncertainty is THE manipulation of choice in group suppression, and Christianity is no exception. Ask yourself why there is no mention of Hell in the Old Testament as a place of Human punishment. THAT little detail didn't evolve until the NEW testament. Why? Because social control was a critical factor in Rome when these texts were decided for inclusion into the New Testament at the Niccean Council of 325. The fall of Rome due to excessive saturation of foiegn immigrants left the Catholic church the ONLY intact structure in Europe. This left an organization of dubious authenticity with no controlling factors whatsoever. It could be reasonably argued that ANY organization falls to corruption once a certain threshold of power is crossed. You see it every day in the works of world leaders, but you refuse to see it in something as pervasive as the Church that's sat at the neck of humanity for two thousand years?
You blood has probably been conditioned to boil at the mere suggestion that Jesus & Mary were man & wife. Are you seeing red yet? And no, I'm not saying that shifting to Cathar or Essene belief is in order here; corruptions of those memes gave us the Templar/Freemason quandry that we have today. It gave us insanity. Just like Christianity did. Christianity didn't patent Morality.
