Yes, that cold front that was north of Missouri came through today Tuesday and about 5:00 or so it actually RAINED, it was quite a welcome event. It is sprinking precip right now as I type. It is cloudy, and much cooler than just yesterday.
Joe, you mentioned you felt that maybe the aerosol applications were causing drought and I understood you to mean intentionally?? I admit like many others the thought has crossed my mind too, say for groups set out to withhold rain for 'financial' gains, or conversely others financial losses perhaps. But also I have wondered could the droughts be caused as simply a side effect of the cloud creation programs that seek mainly as their possible objective to hold down temps. My understanding is that the polymer/aerosol clouds hold moisture in order to be more effective heat shields and even though it is known the effect will be disruptive on rainfall the priority is given to cooling. Any other thoughts on this.
And then again too, possibly the drought pattern is all or partially simply cyclic, as drought of course seems to occur naturally and regularly. Though I understand those we 'choose' to lead act recklessly and murderously far too often, I try and leave room to believe that at least a FEW of the programs we pay for in taxes might really be designed to 'help' mankind if only temporarily or as a band-aid solution. Too, it does occur to me that possibly these aerosol programs are simply a way for the U.S. Empire(and world) to continue it's oil burning ways, while skewing warming data and actually bringing down temps locally regionally through the use of the Sky Shield  (Though at the cost of drought)

Orwell, one problem with this is they have demonstrated long ago that artificial Cirrus interferes with release of infrared radiation at night. It may serve to block incoming radiation by day, but evidence also shows that it traps heat at night. All the scientific data I have read suggests that a program of direct forcing of planetery albedo would cancel itself out due to retained infrared heat.
And what also throws a big wrench in things is when you take into consideration that they 'spray' at night like I have observed them doing several times. If we KNOW that false Cirrus traps infrared heat at night, that by itself almost completely dispenses with any kind of 'solar shield' theory, as that action only contributes to warming issues..

It could be that the Sky Shield is not to reverse global warming, but to block UV-B from reaching dangerous levels. If you look at all the so-called "debunkers" of Global Warming (Is is accelerating because of excessive fuel consumption as one factor amongst many), they never fight the Ozone depletion issue. It is strangely absent fron their discussions.

That seems to be a valid concern about whether shielding would block more heat than it retained, possibly a physics related one and one I can't answer at this point. It does seem on the surface however that these massive aerosol releases that block out whole sections of the country for often times weeks would have a net cooling effect such as the oft sited Mt. Pinitubo effect etc. though nighttime cooling might be a bit slower. But also of course rain plays a factor I believe in cooling, and if this shield is causing the artifically created cloud systems to hold moisture then what is the overall loss ofcooling affect with lack of ground moisture (drought) figured in? Where's an honest weather person when you need one?

That is SO true. It's a really sad state of affairs when you can't even trust your local forecasters anymore!
At least there are a few honest meteorologists around with the courage and integrity to speak the truth...
Scott Stevens is one of them...
SmT, I don't know if you're aware of this guy, but in my opinion, he's one of the few really true professionals left in the business these days... and he tells it like it really is. Check out his website. By the way, he just recently updated it...

Deadly heat wave lingers in East
Rain brings relief for some
Wednesday, July 27, 2005;
NEW YORK (AP) -- People headed for air-conditioned buildings and water parks Wednesday and shaded their pets and livestock as a deadly week-old heat wave lingered across the eastern United States.
Heat warnings and advisories were in effect Wednesday for Washington, D.C., Virginia, North and South Carolina, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and parts of Pennsylvania, New York and Georgia, the National Weather Service said.
Business was booming at ice cream shops and water parks.
"The heat is definitely driving people to the water," said Emily Ball, manager at Wild River Country in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
The heat has been blamed for at least 28 deaths in the Phoenix area, most of them homeless people, along with at least four in Missouri, two young children left in hot cars in Oklahoma, and one each in Kentucky, Ohio and Mississippi.
A cold front promised relief Wednesday for Arkansas and other states. By late Wednesday morning, rain and thunderstorms marking the front stretched from Texas to northern New York state.
The front touched off storms Tuesday that battered parts of northern Ohio with hurricane-force wind. At least 30,000 FirstEnergy Corp. customers were without power Tuesday night.
Cooler air behind the front promised highs only in the 70s Wednesday in northern Ohio and elsewhere in the upper Midwest.
Ahead of the front, however, Central Park in New York City cooled only to 80 degrees during the night and headed for a high Wednesday in the upper 90s. Meteorologists warned of a third straight day of dangerously hot and humid weather in parts of the Southeast.
Florence, South Carolina, hit a record high of 101 on Tuesday, toppling the old record of 99 that had been on the books since 1949, the Weather Service said. Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, also peaked at a record 101.
The heat was blamed for at least 1,200 cattle deaths in Nebraska.
Farmers across the Midwest have been using everything from electric fans to cold showers to protect their livestock from the oppressive heat.
Tracy Swank, who raises sheep near Toledo, Ohio, said she has been opening more barn doors to increase air flow and filling more troughs and buckets with water.
"Animals are pretty resilient. They'll adjust, but you still have to give them plenty of water and provide some shade," she said. |
