Can anyone explain, in layman terms, what a gui is and what is it used for? |

It came up in the windows task manager box on a computer that I was moving to a different room. All that was done to the computer was to turn it off and move it upstairs to a different location in the house.Still can't get the computer back up.Had to replace it.The second one in two months.Looks like this, FBI gui.Application running.???This computer is not connected to the internet when this happens. It's all greek to me.Pun intended. |

heh..sounds to me like this program encounters a critical error when the connection online is interupted..That being the case, the program is kind of 'dumb' to betray itself that easily if it's malware.
Can you get a screenshot of the windows message and post or send it to me? |

In simple terms, it's what allows you to more easily navigate your computer using nifty icons, toolbars and menus etc. as opposed to the old fashioned, pain in the ass DOS commands like back in the day. _________________ "You find me offensive? I find you offensive, for finding me offensive" |

maybe, then again, maybe not. Looks like a basic windoze icon to me.
When you did your system restore did you use the supplied factory disc for that specific machine, or did you maybe use a vanila windows installer? If so this would cause all kinds of hardware failures, including keyboard. |
