Pregnancy proposal makes quick exit

quote:
Under Miller's proposal, anyone who was not married would have been banned from using artificial insemination, donor eggs and sperm and in-vitro fertilization to create a child. Even married couples who needed donor sperm and eggs to produce a pregnancy would have been required to undergo the same assessment now demanded of adoptive parents.

quote:

Families have been pounded by many social, political and economic forces in recent decades. The urge to protect children and the institution of marriage is commendable. But Miller, an Indianapolis Republican, went way too far with her proposal.
