But what does the white area represent?Is it an area being heated up to steer these things,or to intensify the hurricane? |

Dunno. I'd be inclined to call it an artifact if I didn't see it in multiple areas, and also the fact that the coloration is extending beyond the white area. White blocks like that usually signify an oversaturated pixel in a CCD camera, but..
These images need to be cross-indexed with other types of imagery to verify if it's not an artifact. I looked at recent water vapor and infra-red from GOES 12 and did not see anything like this, but the time the images were taken that I viewed and when yours were taken has at least a period of an hour between them.
Someone needs to go fishing through some archives.
