interesting fly by today

Today is santa ana winds in southern cali/san diego... Beautiful warm dry weather today.. And no ct's in sight.
However, on the way to work today, I witnessed the most amazing thing.
A plane was flying STRIGHT UP... And there was a comit trail behind it.. I watched for several minutes.. As soon as the trails started getting longer behind the plane, the plane decided to start flying across the sky, thus leaving the nice trail behind it that was persistent for almost an hour.
I find it interesting, because it appeared to me that the plane was LOOKING for an altitude at which the trails would persist..
On santa ana wind days, it's very hard for them to persist, due to the atmospheric conditions, so I found it quite fascinating the way it flew up with a comit trail that disappeared until it found the right altitude..

Well, that was definately their little test.. It was so clear, and now the sky is just covered with muck. When I went to lunch I watched 6 total planes spraying the sky.. Even on a busy air traffic day, I doubt there would be 6 planes flying over Carlsbad... Lovely.
Tomorrow they changed the forecast from partly cloudy to CLOUDY.. Great.
