Please supply the proof to your claim about there being US military installations in mainland China. Make sure that your proof is of "full-blown" installations, not a detachment of troops.

just curious, where is the Chinese naval base located at in long beach? i spend a lot of time in that area and i would like to go by and check it out.

The Washington Times (3/10/97, p. 1) reports that "Shuttered by military cutbacks, a [sic] historic Navy base in Long Beach, Calif., is about to be leased to a China-owned shipping company under an agreement assisted by the White House."

"President Clinton twice met with Long Beach officials to push their plan forward....The deal approved by the Navy turns over the base — valued by the city at $65 million and by preservationists at as much as $300 million — free of charge to the city of Long Beach. The city has already agreed to lease it to COSCO, the China Ocean Shipping Co., which already has a small operation at the base."

"The prospect has raised some eyebrows — a U.S. government property encompassing prime port space turned over to a foreign shipping company with a recent checkered history and in direct competition with U.S. shippers...."

DID GIFTS TO DEMOCRATS GIVE BEIJING SAFE HARBOR?

"[I]n 1996, the chairman of one of two Chinese arms companies implicated in a scheme to smuggle 2,000 illegal Chinese-made weapons into Oakland, Calif., aboard a COSCO ship had coffee in the White House in an affair associated with DNC fund raising. "In December, a COSCO ship plowed into a crowded boardwalk in New Orleans, injuring 116 persons. Mechanical failure has been blamed. In 1992, the company was fined $400,000 to settle allegations it violated U.S. shipping law by paying kickbacks to shippers instead of abiding by published tariffs."

CHINESE COMMUNISTS STRENGTHEN THEIR WAR MACHINE

The Washington Times (4/10/97, p. 1) reports that "China is engaged in an across-the-board effort to buy and develop arms aimed directly at challenging U.S. military power and capabilities. According to the officials and analysts, the Chinese defense effort includes:

" Building several aircraft carriers in the next 15 years. ‘In the 2010 timeframe, China is projected to field its first aircraft carrier,’ according to a February report by the U.S. Office of Naval Intelligence.

" Replacing older warships with new ships outfitted with advanced anti-ship missiles, surface-to-air missiles and anti-submarine capabilities.

" Developing six new fighter aircraft and purchasing 48 Russian SU-27 fighters.

" Designing a new class of nuclear attack submarines and a new class of nuclear ballistic missile submarines.

" Building land-based and mobile intercontinental ballistic missiles with multiple warheads."

THE RED ARMY IS THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT

"The effort comes at a time of rising nationalism and growing anti-American sentiment in China. Analysts say those feelings are partly the product of efforts by China's rulers to restore the army's tarnished image after its role in the 1989 massacre of democracy demonstrators in Beijing's Tiananmen Square.

"U.S. defense and intelligence officials now regard China as a ‘near peer’ military competitor...."

FREEDOM OF THE SEAS IS A KEY ISSUE

Adm. Joseph W. Prueher, commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, the military force responsible for fighting any wars in Asia, says "‘We and the other nations are very much committed to freedom of navigation in the South China Sea and the sovereignty issue of the Spratlys and Paracels.’

"Other officials and analysts say Chinese statements of benign intentions cannot mask a provocative buying spree in military hardware. China's new weapons programs, they say, are a means to project power and include capabilities far beyond those needed for countering traditional regional rivals, including Japan, India, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam."

"The weapons being purchased...include systems designed for attacking U.S. ships and aircraft, including two Russian warships with SS-N-22 anti-ship cruise missiles, which Moscow developed to destroy U.S. Aegis-class ships...."

NEWLY FRIENDLY BORDER WITH RUSSIA FREES UP MILITARY RESOURCES

"The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 allowed China's military planners to redeploy massive numbers of ground forces protecting the country's northern and western borders....

"China has begun seeking high-quality advanced-technology weaponry and has focused its military strategy on projecting power along its 10,000 nautical miles of coastline as part of a ‘Two Island Chain’ strategy.

"The strategy calls for beefing up naval and air forces to project power from China's east coast to cover two sets of islands. One stretches south from Japan through Taiwan and all the way to Indonesia and Singapore. The other embraces a huge swath of the Pacific Ocean that includes all of Japan's islands, areas beyond the Marianna Islands and a line extending southward hundreds of miles west of the Philippines.

"‘The Chinese navy should exert effective control of the seas within the first island chain,’ says People's Liberation Army Gen. Liu Huaqing, head of the PLA navy. ‘"Offshore" should not be interpreted as coastal as we used to know it. Offshore is a concept relative to the high seas. It means the vast sea waters within the second island chain.’"

WHY DOES CLINTON ADMINISTRATION DOWNPLAY POTENTIAL THREAT?

"Ross H. Munro, co-author of a much-discussed new book with the ominous title ‘The Coming Conflict With China,’ says many U.S. intelligence and policy officials play down the Chinese military threat....

"China's technology exports also have caused continuing friction between Beijing and Washington. When he was CIA director, John M. Deutch told a Senate hearing last year that China continues to sell inappropriate weapons technology.

"A report last month by the Office of Naval Intelligence says China has been ‘actively marketing’ anti-ship cruise missiles for two decades but stepped up sales in the past two years."

Long Beach Naval Complex (LBNC) included Naval Shipyard (NSY) Long Beach and its four associated housing areas (Los Alamitos, Palos Verdes, San Pedro, and Whites Point), Naval Station (NS) Long Beach and its two associated housing areas (Savannah/Cabrillo and Taper Avenue), and Hospital (NAVHOSP) Long Beach.

NS and NSY are located on the south side of Terminal Island within the boundaries of the cities of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The NAVHOSP is located in the northeast corner of the City of Long Beach. Palos Verdes, San Pedro, and Taper Avenue housing areas are located in southwestern Los Angeles County within the community of San Pedro in the City of Los Angeles. Whites Point housing is located south of San Pedro and Taper Avenue housing within the community of San Pedro in the City of Los Angeles. Los Alamitos housing is located east of Orange County in the City of Los Alamitos, and Savannah/Cabrillo housing is located in the northeast corner of the City of Long Beach. LBNC has been an industrial facility for over fifty years.

The NAVHOSP, and NS and its associated housing were identified for closure in BRAC II. The NSY and its Associated Housing were identified for closure in BRAC IV. The NS and its housing areas were closed 30 September 1994. NAVHOSP activities ceased 31 December 1993 and was officially closed 31 March 1994. NS is now in caretaker status. The NAVHOSP was transferred to the City Of Long Beach in May 97. The NSY and its housing was transferred September 97. The Shipyard closing came on top of an estimated 17,000 jobs lost in 1991 due to the reassignment of 38 ships based in Long Beach to other west coast home ports.
By early July 1994 a construction project to benefit navigational safety for the US Navy and improve the environment of the city of Imperial Beach was completed. About 233,000 cubic yards of sand were dredged at Naval Station, San Diego from 30 feet to 37 feet. The dredged sand was placed about 600 feet off the coast of Imperial Beach. The dredging improved US Navy ships' traversing Pier 2 and increased the width of beaches in Imperial Beach and beaches further north on the Silver Strand. The Navy awarded a $1.1 million contract 01 April 1994 to Great Lakes Dredging of Oakbrook IL. Great Lakes Dredging began work on the project on 19 May 1994.

The Chinese state-run China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO) shipping firm, a tenant at the Port of Long Beach since 1981, had been negotiating with the Port for additional terminal space for the past few years. The expansion of Pacific Rim trade and the deep-water and rail infrastructure in the Long Beach-Los Angeles area has resulted in a substantial increase in volume. The Port of Long Beach planned to build and to lease to COSCO a $200 million container terminal on 145 acres of former Navy property, using a 10-year lease with additional five-year options. Annual lease payments, estimated at between $13-15 million, or about $100,000 per acre would be consistent with rates paid by other Port tenants. However, on April 21, 1997, the Long Beach Harbor Commission voted to cancel the lease with COSCO.

I'm quoting my own letter because it has not been answered, as is typical of who it is directed at. I'm still waiting for your answer to my question, NSASucks, not your insults and a sidebar about a small Chinese operation in Long Beach. That has nothing to do with my question. Even still, I think that even by your post that your Long Beach Chinese Navy base can hardly be considered a "full blown" installation as you claim. It sounds more like they rent out a dock to ship goods back and forth.

I'm curious about my fellow U.S. military members serving right now in China. Care to tell us about them, since you know it's a "fact" that they are there in all of their "full-blown" glory? I'm still waiting.

There are NO chemtrails. There are no military bases. The chinese don't have 16,000 personell in Long Beach. It was all my crack pipe imaginations. Thanks to you, I got my mind RIGHT. You have convinced me. I must have been crazy to ever question YOU.

Carrots, Eggs and Coffee

A young man went to his father and told him about his life and how
things
were so hard for him. He did not know how he was going to make it
and wanted
to give up. He was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as
one
problem was solved a new on arose.

His father, a chef, took him to the kitchen. He filled three pots
with water
and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to a boil. In the
first,
he placed carrots, in the second he placed eggs, and the last he
placed
ground coffee beans. He let them sit and boil, without saying a
word.

In about twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He fished the
carrots out
and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in
a bowl.
Then he ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to his son, he asked, "Tell me, what do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," he replied.

He brought him closer and asked him to feel the carrots. He did and
noted
that they were soft. He then asked him to take an egg and break it.
After
pulling off the shell, he observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he
asked
him to sip the coffee. The son smiled as he tasted its rich aroma.

The son then asked. "What does it mean, Father?"

His father explained that each of these objects had faced the same
adversity-boiling water-but each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after
being
subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its
liquid
interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside
became
hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique however. After they were in the
boiling
water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" he asked his son. "When adversity knocks on your
door, how
do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean? "

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but
with pain
and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with
the heat?
Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial

hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff. Does
my
shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a
stiff
spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot
water, the
very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it
releases
the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are
at their
worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When
people talk
to you, do you praise our Lord? When the hour is the darkest and
trials are
their greatest, does your worship elevate to another level?

How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee
bean?

Without wanting to take up too much of Mark's allotted gigabytes, I'll just post some of the highlights of the Clinton administration sellouts, that perhaps jeopardized this nation's future, and placed us in a postition wherby we may soon see war with China....(this doesn't even go into the sales of ICBM or supercomputer technology):

We still need to know why China tried to smuggle into California enough weapons to equip an army....

GIVES CONTROL OF THE PANAMA CANAL TO CHINA… President Clinton has allowed a company controlled by Chinese communists -- Hutchinson-Whampoa Ltd. -- to take control of the Canal cities at both ends of the Canal. Further, under Panamanian Law #5, Hutchinson-Whampoa will determine which ships are allowed to enter the Canal and many of the Canal's operations. This is utterly absurd and frightening…. "
