(You got it, RTW!) quote:
FY 2001 Defense Plus-Up May Come Through FY 2000 Supplemental Although the CBR is unlikely to include more than a very modest increase in funding for defense in FY 2001, the Defense Department may get a significant boost through the “back door” of the FY 2000 supplemental appropriation. In February, the administration requested $2.3 billion in supplemental appropriations, primarily to pay the FY 2000 costs of operations in Kosovo. The House appropriations committee added another $2.9 billion to the supplemental, including $1.6 billion to cover the Defense Department’s higher-than-expected fuel costs and $854 million to address shortfalls in the military healthcare program. In addition, on March 29, the full House approved an amendment that would add $4 billion more in defense funding to the supplemental. Importantly, this amendment specified that the funding would remain available for obligation through September 30, 2001 (the last day of FY 2001). To be sure, some of this funding, especially the $2.3 billion requested by the administration and $2.9 billion added by the appropriations committee, will be needed to cover FY 2000 costs. However, much of the $4 billion added on the House floor seems likely to be available to cover FY 2001 costs. In addition, although most of the funds in the House version of the supplemental are for readiness-related activities (O&M and military personnel), the inclusion of this extra funding may allow Congress to allocate a somewhat greater share of the FY 2001 defense budget to weapons procurement and R&D, areas Congress has traditionally focused upon.

RTW, We all "foot the tab" and they don't even tell us what they're doing up there!!!! Dang!!! Just like The World News just said scientist can create embryos for stem cell research and also, can create embryos without needing sperm....yet, I bet no illnesses will be cured! They are just crying for funding, just like everybody else. Now 2 women can have a baby without use of male sperm!!! Sick BS! I personally think the "ole fashioned way" to have babies is the one most aligned with the Creator or Spirit! What a crazy world full of mad scientists....and mad Military/industrial complex. Blessings, Jo ^j^ ^j^

Ya know, I can't figure people out for the life of me. I thought for sure this would raise your ire a bit, especially at how EXPENSIVE this has become, just a little more proof that this is real.Back to the drawing board I guess.

RTW you bet we are pissed off. With paying $2.00 gal for gas here and they get to use all they want. Damn it makes me mad!!! I can't even afford to fuel up my two cruise missles at those prices!!

Well the problem as I see it David is that you're running your Cruise missiles on unleaded premium.Personally I run my two ICBMs on solid fuels I manufacture from common fertilizers I get cheap at Costco, and alcohol for the stabilizer rockets from artichokes I grow out back.

I think I might try that cy. I was going by the note on the fuel door- "unleaded fuel only, see owners manuel"

On a positive note, gas prices are going down as I predicted they would around three months ago when all the "experts" were saying it was going to 3 bucks a gallon.Nevada is paying about 20 cents less than California though....right across the border. I just paid 1.41 for Arco Nevada unleaded wheras I payed 1.65 for the same gas sold at an Arco station here in Sacramento. Personally I think we should keep our military well stocked in fuel and prepared to fight a war.....especially after the Clinton administration depleated the National Fuel reserves under a typical liberal bandaid type plan to attempt to make Gore look like he was doing something about the Clinton caused fuel crisis during the election period.

Mark...I don't know if you know much about chart reading, and I've never seen that chart before, but see the support area at 1.40? A good rule of thumb is that if prices were to break through that support area of 1.40, old support becomes new resistance. In other words, if prices break below 1.40, we might expect what was previously acting like a floor (support) to now act as a ceiling (resistance). It's one of the most basic principals in technical analysis of charts. 1.40 is obviously a significant price on your chart. Any move below that will therefore have significant meaning.....and be good news for the consumer.

Speechless is a good description! Sometimes, through all this gross Military/Industrial Complex, TPTB crappola happening to us, it just overwhelms and you start to burn up from anger from the inside out...like ulcers and such and yes, burn-out can occurr! I feel it too, often, as we all do at one time or another. Living on a very "fixed" income and having to deal with rising gas prices, food, health-care, etc. can really be frustrating and upsetting beyond belief! My ire is up too, but so is my Blood Pressure...sometimes, ya gotta know when to hold and know when to fold for awhile...ending up dead won't solve any cause. "Burn out" is cause for a wee lil break sometimes.++++++++It is true as mentioned, Fertilizer and "I SEE B.M.'s" do go hand and hand and it always seems to be in abundance. Love and Blessings, Joanne
