Hey Mark, without going in to too much detail, I've retained a chemical analyst. A Good One. I'd be happy to have your samples tested at my expense. My family wants answers. Let me know if you want a second opinion. Are you there?

Old topic, but I have to say that I clearly remember seeing webstrands back in the summetime of 1985, in Milwaukee. I was six years old at the time, and at about 9 am, I went outside to put some mail in the mailbox. On my way down the driveway, I glanced at the front lawn and noticed that there was an enormous 'spider-web' covering the entire lawn (which was about 2 acres). Since I have a rather intense case of arachnophobia, I told my Dad that huge spiders have infested our lawn and the grass was going to die soon. I can't remember what he told me, though. Just thought I'd share that story with y'all.

From goldrushes stomping grounds http://www.sacbee.com/content/news/story/4351226p-5372616c.html Ballooning spiders cause scare By Ralph Montaņo -- Bee Staff Writer Published 2:15 a.m. PDT Wednesday, September 11, 2002 The Sept. 11 jitters started in Elk Grove one day early. A woman called 911 shortly after noon Tuesday because a plane was circling her neighborhood. She said tiny packages with streamers attached were coming out of the plane and drifting to the ground. "It sounded plausible at first," said Sacramento County Sheriff's Sgt. Tommy Taylor, who was on patrol in Elk Grove at the time. "It made us a little nervous for about 20 minutes." Turned out, the plane was a student pilot getting some practice, and the "tiny packages" -- which didn't come from the plane -- were just baby spiders surfing the Delta breeze. Drifting on webs, or ballooning as it is called, is a preferred mode of transportation for many kinds of baby spiders, said Steve Heydon, senior museum scientist at the University of California, Davis, Bohart Museum of Entomology. "Walking isn't very practical," even with eight legs, he said. Ballooning spiders were behind a few terrorist scares last year after Sept. 11, Heydon said. More false alarms are expected in the coming days, according to law enforcement officials. "We expect the next 48 hours to be very busy," said sheriff's Sgt. James Lewis. Last year, in the wake of Sept. 11, there were reports of low-flying aircraft, strangers lurking near bridges, and hundreds of white-powder scares. Trying to avoid a scare of its own, the Governor's Office issued a warning that low-flying California National Guard jets will be part of today's memorial service. Each scare will be taken seriously, officials said, just as Taylor seriously checked out Tuesday's report. Taylor tracked down the plane and spoke to the pilot. "He happened to work for the Public Defender's Office, so I had some explaining to do," he said. He also visited the woman who made the call and explained the spiders to her. "She was pretty embarrassed," he said. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here on the coast it has been warm 98 and sunny with exceptionally blue skies since the rain on the 17th. Very little in trail activity~ just a few low ones early in the morning on the 18th, and one Friday 6 PM with a wide disapater trail. Also one mid day Saturday (also a wide disapater). So we have webstrands falling this weekend on the fields and in the forest. Long slender single strands no spiders to be seen at this time.

I hope that the voters have more sense and vote for the best candidate and not party lines. Most people I talk to do not want to esculate the war into Iraq and want to try more peaceful measures. I did not vote for this president and do not believe in his policies. He is way out of line in telling the citizens that we will back him up. I do not believe this.

quote: I hope that the voters have more sense and vote for the best candidate and not party lines.
Well if the best candidate is not the corrupt whiner who relies on voting fraud and deception to get elected...then it's certainly not the DemocRat party quote: Most people I talk to do not want to esculate the war into Iraq and want to try more peaceful measures.
It's been tried, now the house just gave Bush a bipartisan resolution to conduct the war as he sees fit if Sadam does not immeditately go along with disarmament. Gephardt was in full support. The Senate will soon follow. The American people overwhelmingly support the president because they understand that to do nothing will result in a major catastrophe in the future, and many American deaths. quote: I did not vote for this president and do not believe in his policies.
What policies might those be? The war on terrorism? Lower Taxes?...Did you vote for Gore the emarrassment? quote: He is way out of line in telling the citizens that we will back him up. I do not believe this.
Believe it because it is the reality. Polls also indicate this. (other than that, I have no opinion on the matter)

"It's been tried, now the house just gave Bush a bipartisan resolution to conduct the war as he sees fit if Sadam does not immediately go along with disarmament"That's of course, assuming that there are two parties at work. There is one party. Big Corporation running that party with the illusion of liberal and conservative sides, with both greasing each others butts. "What policies might those be? The war on terrorism? Lower Taxes?...Did you vote for Gore the embarrassment?" The war on Terrorism is Cheney's plan for world conquest. Lower taxes? Who will be paying for this Orwellian Eternal War? The outcome of war can never be predicted. "Believe it because it is the reality. Polls also indicate this."
Depends on the poll. Take a poll in New Jersey or California, then take one in Idaho or Oklahoma. You will get different results. Polls are as corrupt as the current administration and previous administrations. But to use the same standard as Yoda says, the rest of the world is positively against a war in Iraq as indicated by polls........As we wait for the final showdown......China vs USA......Very bad.......Nostradamian in nature......Maybe they all need to light up a doob

What's the point of even making the statement SG if it's an obvious lie? Anyone who has half the brain God gave fence posts, and is following political events even casually, can see both parties are most definitely NOT the same. Do you know what an unqualified statement is? That's when you just say stuff regardless of the actual truth or fact. For example, if I said "SG is a flaming homosexual pedophile who likes to dress up in drag and rape nuns and small farm animals..." Just because I say that, does it make it true? No. That, and what you just wrote are unqualified statements. They have no bearing on actual truths... This point will be lost on the hopelessly deluded I'm afraid.

Members are now prohibited from posting libelous remarks against other members in the form of a hypothetical as a ruse to avoid direct libel. Such behavior is grounds for removal from the forums. And speaking of removal... Cy, you (for some unknown reason) previously forced your own removal by your childish antics, as you readily admit. These antics, including the immature deletion of the content of your previous posts, are equiv to defacing public property. You have also broken the forum rule regarding posting under multiple IDs and registering new IDs to circumvent your banning. Your motivations I do not understand, however I don't want to see a repeat performance of your previous meltdown. However you may be interested in the Rumpus Room.

Yoda's Breath said: quote: The American people overwhelmingly support the president...
Overwhelmingly support?! Where the hell did you take your poll....Langley? Or have you not turned CNN off yet? Here's Time Magazine's poll: quote: Should the U.S. attack Iraq? Yes: 16.9% No: 83.1% Total Votes Cast: 607287 NOTE: This is an unscientific, informal survey for the interest and enjoyment of TIME.com users, and may not be indicative of popular opinion.
Hmmmmm......wonder why CNN has completely opposite numbers. You can vote yourself somewhere on this page: LINK quote: .....because they understand that to do nothing.....
To do nothing? Why do you think that opposing war automatically means "doing nothing"? Ever hear of alternatives to war? Such as shutting our borders down? Shutting aid off to terrorist countries (like Isreal)? Hey, I got it---how about stop screwing around with other people's countries so the terrorists will go home? Never thought of that, did you? quote: .....will result in a major catastrophe in the future, and many American deaths.
This upcoming war in Iraq WILL be the major catostrophe in the future, resulting in many American deaths, not unlike a future terrorist attack.

Yes, we love you too, Yoda. Thanks for those figures, Gas Mask. Hey, us gases should stick together. Actually, I like the Noble Gases, 8th group.Pat Buchanan and Ralph Nader both think that there is no real difference between the two so-called parties. It all comes down to where Demublicans and Repulicrats can get the votes. Liberals go for the poor, while ignoring the middle class. Conservatives go for the rich, while ignoring the middle class. Meanwhile, we are paying welfare for both the rich and the poor., while they all belong to the same country clubs. Buchanan and Nader, I think, are more true liberal and conservative.

Has this been posted - sorry if a repost:Spider webs float through Santa Cruz SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Long, floating spider webs are bobbing through the skies of Santa Cruz this week, confusing some community members concerned about biological weapons, UFOs and other phenomena. The gossamer-thin, shimmery "sky webs" are between 18 inches and several feet long, and have been seen drifting through the sky, sailing along the coastline and, at times, catching on fences or draping on trees. The webs come from young spiders that launch themselves on their homemade parachutes after hatching to be blown to a new home. Independent television producer Bob Andruszkiewicz said he called police after becoming worried about biological weapons, "but then I thought, why would they pick Santa Cruz?" People looking for UFOs have called the gossamer webs "angel hair" and "aerial anomalies." Web sites say it could be an indication of extraterrestrial beings or a spirit presence. No such thing, said University of Wyoming molecular biology professor Randy Lewis, a leader in spider web research. "It's not a government plot or anything," he said. "This is just a way for spiders to get out and find a new place to live." In Wyoming, said Lewis, dozens of the webs can been seen floating across the prairie in the spring. "Nobody out here would probably even think about it," he said.
