After being online for 2 years, and having served-up 137,000,000,000 bytes to our visitors and members, we have outgrown our current webhost. We've been running for the last few months at the very limits of our bandwidth and disk space allocations. You may have noticed that the Image Database uploads have been disabled for a little while now in order to conserve space. I'm currently moving the site's contents to a new host that is going to provide almost 4X the bandwidth and almost 8X the disk space so that we have plenty of room to continue our growth...
I want to give our members a heads-up that we will need to restrict posts to the forum for a few days before the time that the switch to the new host occurs. This is so that we can make sure that the latest threads, etc. have been moved to the new host. Also, we will temporarily disable registrations, new links in the Link Database, and Private Messages. At that point editing of old posts and changes to your profile should be avoided as these changes may not get saved.
I'm going to try to open a temporary forum as soon as possible while we wait, so that posting isn't completely blocked, however any posts to this temporary forum won't get transfered to the new host. These changes will begin soon, after I get all the kinks out at the new host. Until then you can continuing posting in all the forums. We appreciate your understanding and support during this, hopefully, brief pause of the forums and databases. Thanks to everyone for your participation and your patience as we work to provide a better site.

i would like to congratulate you on you steadfast site no downtime or crash gaining altitude on the World wide Web you have blown away what the "media" seek to sweep under the rugand stayed up with the posts of us common people as we turn over every rock we find and send it here no matter if we find a "waterdog" (local slange for salamander) (a small protohuman jellything amphibiouse in nature) we can send it on the web from this place

does that graph really indicate 700K hits between April & June? WOW. if the planes were any busier we'd about have the whole web tangled w/ our posting - I would deeply regret not having this forum - I have come to depend on it as a source of unarguable evidence & gobs of other important links that have sometimes spun my head! Most sincere thanks to Thermit & the other site managers.------------------ The soul takes flight into the world of the invisible, and there arriving is sure of bliss and forever dwells in paradise. - Plato

The graph is of accesses, as opposed to hits, so you can't read too much into the actual numbers, but it does show a true relative depiction of activity at the website. Thanks for your support everyone. I think everything has been transfered now, except the latest member profiles, posts and replies. Getting closer...

We're not done yet, mark, but hopefully soon.I'm about to begin the process of transfering threads to the new host. As mentioned before the regular forums will be closed until the transfer is complete in a few days. Look for the temporary posting forum to show up within an hour or two of now. As mark mentioned, seamless is exactly what we'd like. I hope it will be. Thanks for bearing with us as we move forward into the great unknown, hopefully emerging unscathed from the digital metamorphisis. Keep your fingers crossed!

P.S. Remember, any edits to your profile or old posts won't be saved until the transfer has occured, so don't bother. Thanks.
