Recently we went on a roadtrip to the Texas Hill Country. Spraying had been very intense in the Houston area and we were hoping to get out to the country to get away from the trails for a day. We watched them spray Houston right above while passing through the Katy area. After spending the night in our destination of Bandera (the Cowboy capital of the world ) we woke up to a beautiful morning. While walking around outside noticed a long horizontal trail to the east. Bandera is about 20 miles west of San Antonio. Took a picture of this suspicious trail which was the only thing in the sky all around, no clouds at all, wonderful blue sky. A few minutes later another horizontal trail was laid very close to the first. Thru the morning, more trails were laid off in the distance including a vertical trail. The lines spread to form a hazy psuedo-cloudy area in the quadrant of the sky towards SA. Later in the day it was time to head home, we needed to travel thru SA to get home. As we neared the city, the trails became closer and closer until, when we reached the city, the trails were directly overhead, stretching out everywhere. San Antonio was getting sprayed hard. We watched planes leaving trails in every direction, single lines, parallel lines and, of course, the X's. As we hit I-10 which basically runs east-west between Houston and SA, the haze and trail remnants were still overhead. Looking to the east or west while driving on the highway, no end could be seen to the hazy mess, but very interestingly, if you looked to the north or south, the end of the blanket of haze could easily be seen, many miles of in the distance. This situation contined for at least a hundred miles. What struck me was the scale of coverage that the spray planes had generated, hundreds of sqare miles. Nearing Houston, the sky became overcast with real clouds and we could no longer detect spraying activity. So much for fresh country air. We took many pictures of the San Antonio activity, from outside the city and inside. Will post these as soon as I can get them uploaded.
