Passing along from Brian in Lansing, MI: quote:
I'm noticing a pattern at home, in Lansing, MI. It seems that this 'spraying' (for lack of a better word) usually happens the first two weekends of the month. I usually get up Saturday mornings around 7 - 7:30. I have a ritual where I get up and let the dog out in the front yard. I'm noticing that this 'spraying' generally starts in the East, with planes heading West. This is shown in the first two pictures, which are facing due East from my front yard. Spraying usually starts just before 8:00 a.m., before most of the weekend traffic is out and active, I suppose. They usually spray for an hour or so, which lays a cloud cover that's good all day. (I still kick myself -- but in early July, I woke one Saturday morning to find that they had already started -- planes had laid out sixteen parallel tracks, from East to West, then quickly spread out over the morning sky. It then remained cloudy all day. On that particular July weekend though, the winds were stronger than normal, which meant that the cloud cover had mostly blown away by 3:00 or so. So that meant that the planes returned around 4:00, re-sprayed, and the cover remained until well after dark.)First two pics taken this past Saturday (October 14th) at 8:00 a.m. The first pic is a little more to the South-East, while the second pic is looking a little more to the left (North-East).

...the trail starts to spread -- three hours later shortly after noon, as the complete cloud cover is finished. Does this look like a sunny Michigan day?

-- looking in opposite directions from my front yard at around 6:00 p.m. that day. By the way -- in the [last] shot -- that glare ain't the sun. The sun is actually off-frame to the left.
