I was on the road going to a relatives house in Fairfield, Ca. This is the home of Travis air force base, a former SAC base and now used for mostly troop and supply movements to places around the world.
I spent from noon to 7 pm about a half mile from the base and made some interesting obsevations.

There were far more KC-135's and B-52's coming and going than usual. Most of the transports were in the usual low level pattern flying for training and or war movement exercises with a few of them coming and going from the west and south. However the KC-135's and the B-52's were ALL coming from the north or east. I find this interesting because most of the spray planes I see just prior to starting the spray, are coming from the north and east and are either black or a white color.

Most of the KC's and the 52's coming in from N. or E. were flat/non reflective light black or flat white and not one of them had markings on them. I can tell you for a fact that this base has in the past been used for some pretty scary things with most of the public that surrounds the base, being completly in the dark about it.

Now I am not saying that these plane are the responsibles but some of the spray planes that went to Nam(agent orange) came from this base.

One more thing, today I think the Sacramento Valley will be nasty. I can see them stacking the trails, one on top of the other, in long trails. And here, they are spraying in short puffs or streaks with a twist to them. Maddness continues. David

There were atomic bombs and who knows what else stored there for a long time. And this was all done within a rock throwing distance of a large population of people. (Much larger now)

During the Viet Nam "conflict", the base was used for the deployment of troops and supplies. At this time I really do not know what purpose other than transport and resupply , and training flights. However the flights go on day and night round the clock. Some stay in the pattern, more or less, and do touch and goes and I assume that these are for training and keeping the "edge".

However I have little dought that the black twin engine jets that fly this area at low level after most sprayings, is stationed there. I have seen this same type of plane flying over the Napa Valley and landing at Travis in Fairfield. On very heavy days of spray, several of this type fly the areas affected. Monitoring, info gathering, who knows, but they are there.

Yes, the Sacramento Valley grows hundreds of thousands of acres of crops that supply food to most of the nation and other countries. They grow tomatoes, corn, cotton ,soybeans, rice, apples, peachs and much much more. If you look at a map you can see that Sacramento is bordered to the west by the coastal range of mountains and to the east by the Sierra Nevadas. Nice place to trap nasty airborn stuff.
