RESOLUTION 63/2003

of the 14th session of 4-6-2003

In Aigina today Wednesday 4-6-2003 at 10 a.m. the Municipal Council met in session in the meeting room of the Council Chambers (C. Lada 1), at the legally issued summons 5190/29-5-2003 of its chairman the Mayor Dimitrios Mourtzis.

Present at the meeting were:
1. Dimitrios Mourtzis, Mayor, in the Chair
2. Nektarios Kornarakis, Councillor, as member of the Council
3. Ioannis Tzitzis, Councillor, as member of the Council
4. Andreas Stratigos, Councillor, as member of the Council

Absent: Anastasios Amafis, Councillor, as member of the Council

The Council had a quorum, four members being present.

Subject 9 Resolution 63/2003

“Appointment of an attorney to file a suit against any party responsible for the conducting, according to press reports, of dangerous aerial spraying over Aigina in the framework of ongoing experiments for purposes of dealing with the greenhouse phenomenon”.

The Municipal Council discussed the above subject in accordance with the provisions of article 111 of the Municipal Code.

Introducing the subject, the Chairman made the following statement: “At the Municipal Council meeting of 16-4-2003 there was discussion of a written question and motion submitted by the municipal councilor Mr. Nektarios Koukoulis on the subject of information published in the newspaper ‘Ethnos on Sunday’ according to which - in the framework of experiments being carried out to deal with the greenhouse phenomenon - aerial spraying was carried out over Aigina with aluminium in combination with other chemical substances.”

With its resolution 75/2003 the Municipal Council approved, by majority vote, resort to legal action against any party responsible for carrying out, according to information published in the press, aerial spraying dangerous to public health.

The Council must attend today to the appointment of an attorney to file a suit on behalf of the Municipality.

Taking into account all the abovementioned, and following related discussion, the Muncipal Council resolves UNANIMOUSLY

To appoint the attorney Iphigenia Margaris to undertake the filing of a suit against any party responsible for the conducting, according to press reports, of dangerous aerial spraying over Aigina in the framework of ongoing experiments for purposes of dealing with the greenhouse phenomenon”.

The expense will be covered by funds reserved in the 2003 Municipal Budget for payment of legal personnel
