We've been looking at the possibility of creating a structure whereby forum members would be able to democratically rule on administrative issues regarding the board. Before going into details, I was curious if there was enough popular support for such a concept, since participation would be critical for any such plan to be sucessful. I'm open to suggestions, but this would probably take the form of an elected council to vote on board issues. So I'm gauging support for this idea by responses to this post. Well what do you think?

I feel it would cause political chaos,"we have enough of that already".It would be best if you handled any administrative issues, you all have done a great job so far in my opinion.

I think that's a outstanding idea, T. I learned as much from moderating here and administrating at Mega as I have doing anything else.I think a lot people have lost touch with the entire concept of 'we the people' and the responsiblity that comes with real democracy. I could think of probably a few hundred reasons why this would be a good idea, but I think the benefits to the individuals who chose to become involved would quickly become self-evident. It'd be a heckuva an experiment, if nothing else... I'm wondering if anyone else has tried something like this?

I dislike agreeing with emfx...but do...and if this experiment were to go on anyway, who who have their hand on the "red" button ? people who are not swayed by public opinion and are guided by a strong moral compass...are not that easy to find ------------------ T/S

Exactly. Those are traits that are learned, not something that people are usually born with. No further comment, I swear!

Thanks for the input so far, but we will need a good bit more interest for this to be workable. I'm going to gauge the response after a week to see where we are at...

Good idea.....except I agree with Seeker in that, Who watches the Watchers? Do the moderators function as proxy coordinators? This could be a microcosmic version of a true democracy, instead of a phoney, one party system masquerading as a two party. The people should vote directly for what concerns them. I say go for it.

Thermit, watches the watchers...just as he does now. He has given so much time and emotional energy to this, it would be great if a few more people could help with leadership. I've been scarce lately due to biz, Dan for other reasons...it would be nice to have back up as well as fresh input, especially regarding heated discussions and members violating posting regs. As a council we could speak with one voice instead of individuals that might be construed as personality issues. BTW, Seek, and Chem, when you weren't looking we all said "who volunteers take a step forward" the rest of us took the proverbial step back. Thermit, how would the election process work exactly?

Lord of the Flies a good read and calls to mind the self-government which takes place when people are left to their own devices
that Thermit's hand should be on the red button goes without saying...it's his ship democracy one >> This could be a microcosmic version of a true democracy<< Right on swamp gas...as in Lord of the Flies but without the naturally-arravating-towards-violent-as-required-to-survive-tendencies eh??

Leave well enough alone! This forum works as it does and with the references made to it from all locations, it's as good as it gets IMHO! BADGES? We don't need no stinkin' badges here!

If this forum is as good as it gets, then I didn't make a mistake in deciding not to take part anymore. I don't believe Chem Trail Central is any place for debunkers. They completly sicken and disgust me with their highbrow nonsense. We all know for a fact, THERE ARE MULTIPURPOSE CHEM-TRAILS. DUH !!! Today, Oct. 25th my New England skies were assaulted to an extreme. The coverage was such that in no way could it be claimed "oh, this is just normal air traffic." STUPID !!! I would also like to address the subject of foul language permitted here. We all know those degrading words, I could easily apply them all to a number of individuals who post here but I won't. Those doing so reveal themselves as the ignorant low grades that they are and havn't got the intelligence to express themselves any other way. I'd be ashamed to recommend CTC to anyone. I do believe CTC serves no constructive purpose. Jeanie PS I sure do miss Krissa and Dan, two people who really added some class to this site along with a number of others. Others too have dropped out because of the go no where attitude here.

I think Thermit doing a great job under the circumstances. And for the most part he's been pretty lenient with both for and against arguments here. What I have seen is certain people coming over here try to break up the board by posting arguments that usually end up going nowhere. The same people usually end up in a mud slinging match. That's why I try to just post only news.I like this forum because every once in a while I catch something unusal that I missed while surfing elsewhere. As long as the individuals moderating the boards are advocates of free speech....fine idea. If I have missed anyone who have gone from theses boards..it's Alpha Theta...too bad he broke the board rules because he had a lot of good things to say. I miss Gas_Mask too. Thanks for letting me add my 2 cents here Thermit! Mech
